- I’m not a theologian and Im not a Christian or an atheist. I’m just a dude who likes the idea of Jesus.
I’m not here to debate any theological fallacies or any conflicting ideas. This is an off-the-dome expression of where I’m at.
I’m totally open to hearing any criticisms of my ideas as long as they are constructive and well-meaning.

It takes a lot of insight and self reflection to ponder these things honestly. I think you’re doing a great job there. Some of my friends have been in very similar situations to you. Leaving other religions, atheism, etc, and developing their own thought paths, deriving meaning from the texts according to what they have known to be true in their lives. I Believe Jesus Christ is God. And no matter who is correct, nobody is 100% correct. We can only be as truthful with ourselves as possible and let God lead our hearts. My mind goes back to this “ Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” I am praying that the Holy Spirit will work in you, and that the truth would reveal itself in us.

Everyone in the world needs a role model. It’s funny how they say never to meet your idols because then you might see their imperfections, so how cool is it to have a role model that lived literally a perfect life and paid a debt for you that you can never repay. You almost feel guilty at first but then it turns into empowerment.
