RECIPE FOR HOW TO REGAIN FAITH ---> If you don't know how to regain your faith in God, here is a recipe for you because I went through the same thing and I think this is the right recipe for it: a more peaceful approach is always better because this way you look down on others, convinced that you are really right because you stuck to a purely logical conclusion and view of things (that's how it looks from the side) and it's as if you don't leave room for what even you, so intelligent, don't fully know, and the question is whether God as such can even be understood logically , despite the fact that we possess or have been given such an understanding, even a doubtful one. Faith is not a matter of reason. And the logical mind cannot fathom many things, we are also rationally limited beings. Don't get so much used to this world and that you know how it really work, because you really don't. You just noticed some patterns. Remember that you are an SOUL. Think like one. Remember how is it to be one: You can never learn everything about this world, you just started. Stay unaccustomed, stay in tune, stay in anticipation. Stay faithful IN your ignorance, not TO it.
I hope you will not hear this message of mine in a wrong tone, it was written with good intentions and a calm spirit.

Great gospel presentation, one of the best I heard, I would say flawless. Honestly this is one of the few reformed preachers that offered the gospel to sinners without distinction between elect and reprobate as the scripture commands us to do. It is tiresome to hear bad gospel presentations coming from reformed theologians, where sinners are not given Christ for them to embrace. Whether it is Michael Horton or Steven Lawson, please learn from Kevin, he did not say once that Christ died for his people or that Christ died for those that would trust in him. Because every time Michael Horton and Steven Lawson say this, they are not offering the gospel to sinners but to believers, and by doing so they are denying the free offer of the gospel to everybody, in short they are not preaching Christ crucified for sinners as scripture commands them to do. Kevin DeYoung brilliantly included himself with all those that need Christ, implying that Christ is offered to all men without distinction, and this is the proper way to offer the gospel to all mankind including the members of the church. The tax collector said God have mercy on me a sinner and went justified, this is the kind of preaching we need. We must stop preaching a Christ for his people or for those that trust in him, nobody needs to hear such a pharisaic message, whom unlike the tax collector thanked God that he was not like that tax collector that cried to God have mercy on me a sinner. Christ did not die for his people or those that would trust in him as I heard so many times from Michael Horton and Steven Lawson, this is not the gospel, the gospel is that Christ died for sinners (all sinners without distinction between elect and reprobate) so that we (all sinners) would trust in Him. There is a big difference, the love of God precedes our faith or trust in Christ, God so loved the world that whosoever believes in Him will not perish. Michael Horton and Steven Lawson instead preach that God so loved those that will not perish, God loves the elect, his people, those that trust in Him, all this may be true but it is not the gospel as it ought to be preached for evangelism. It may be appropriate in a church setting, were believers are the only audience, but it certainly is not appropriate when trying to explain why everybody should believe in Jesus, something that Steven DeYoung did magnificently here. When doing evangelism it is paramount that we preach to unbelievers that God loves them and is merciful to them, before they believe and it should be the chief reason for them to believe in a God is merciful to them while they are his enemies and are in unbelief, every time we say God is merciful to his people or those that trust in Him we are missing the point, we are not preaching the unconditional mercy of God first to both believer and unbeliever without distinction. God loves sinners unconditionally before they come to faith while they are still enemies of God, and faith is the response to this unconditional love of God for sinners (both elect and reprobate without distinction). But if we do not preach this unconditional love of God for sinners (unbelievers), it is impossible for sinners to come to Christ properly, that is to embrace him as Savior who died for them and loved them before they believed (while they were still enemies Christ reconciled all sinners to himself without distinction between elect and reprobate). This is the gospel, and Kevin DeYoung preached it perfectly.

      @gerritreinders3003 Před 3 lety +1

Hello, Emmy. I am a Christian so I will try to answer your question as best I can. I will not know everything because I am not the most knowledgeable person out there, but hopefully I can help answer your question:) I think the best way to start answering your question is to answer what sin is in the first place. Sin on the most basic level is not living in accordance with God. God created all things so he has certain attributes to him. Most famous among those is that God is love, and God is good. Whenever we as individuals fall short of being good or loving we miss the mark of God, and the bible teaches that God is perfect and always good, he can do no evil thing, so in order to not sin we have to be perfectly good, and perfectly loving. Now if you think like I do, then you are probably thinking that being perfect all the time is impossible! That is true, even browsing through the comment section of this video it is easy to see that people are not being very loving or kind. Now the bible teaches that everybody makes mistakes and fails, and therefore everybody sins. Now what I say next might take some thinking, but I will try my best to explain it clearly, and I promise it is relevant to what I just said about sin. God is perfect in everyway, perfect in love, prefect in kindness and creativity...perfect in everyway you can possibly think of, but he is also perfectly good and just. What that means is that if God created us and we are his creation we are his, yet we disobey him and sin against his very nature of perfectness. Now if God is just then he must bring to justice the deeds of our sins (think of it like breaking a law and having to pay the penalty). This is bad news for all sinners, which as I have stated Christians believe is everyone including themselves, including me too, and that we deserve the punishment of God for our sin, which the bible teaches is death (please just take that point for the time being and I can address it later if you want:) ) But...and here I am going to share with you the what we Christians believe to be the best news ever and the whole reason the bible was written. God is love, perfect in love, in fact God is love, he created it and it flows from him, so how can a God of perfect love and perfect justice deal with sinners? His justice dictates he must punish us, but that conflicts with his mercy and love. So to solve this and fulfill his love, God sent his son Jesus to earth, Jesus was born among men but was God. Jesus lived a perfect life as God in the flesh of a man. He never sinned, the only person ever to do it. Jesus was always kind, always loving, always good. Then he was murdered near the city Jerusalem on a cross. When Jesus died his perfect life was poured out for all sinners. Jesus willingly gave up his life and took all the punishment of our sins upon him. God punished a willing Jesus or our sins that we might have eternal life. And so God fulfilled justice and love at the same time! And you can have your sins lifted off of you too, if you accept Jesus as your savior. Believe that he was God and that he paid for your sin. Then he will send his spirt to help you live victoriously for Him! I know this was super long, longer than I intended, but I still feel I left out so many details because it was getting so long. I did not write this to prove a point to you Emmy, but because I truly believe this and I care that you are saved too:) I hope and pray this comment finds you swiftly. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.
      God bless

Hi! first of all, I read a comment that says as Christians we would be told to kill you?? no that's not true. In fact the God we believe in is one of infinite mercy and love, not rage and murder. I saw that there was a long answer to your sin question but I thought I'd give a reason as to why we believe in all this stuff because the video does a poor job. After going on a search myself to figure out if it is reasonable to believe that Jesus is God I decided that if He really rose from the dead then he is God. After watching debates and reading about the resurrection I have come to the conclusion that it is more reasonable to believe that the man named Jesus rose from the dead than him not based on historical evidence. One book that really maps out this argument and the evidence is "The Case for Christ." This book is written by an atheist journalist who ended up converting to Christianity after finding and analyzing the historical evidence for the resurrection. I totally recommend reading it if you're interested in why we can reasonably believe and say that a man rose from the dead! I wish you the best, and if you want to talk more feel free to comment back : ) thanks for reading this!

@@gerritreinders3003 hi Gerrit, thank you for the kind and well explained reply, I find it very understandable, yet I do have more questions, such as: what devines good and bad? Within wicca, i pledged an oath to never use magic to harm (this is for multiple reasons such as law of three-fold, but also as it is a principle to set a responsible example from the perspective of love and respect to all), therefore empowering someone's health, as long as they give me permission (which is a must, never force yourself or your good intentions upon one), should be viewed as "good", from a general perspective (I hope we can both agree on that). I understand that Christianity does something equivalent to this, pray or light a candle. From a Wiccan perspective, I would do more or less the same, only I would call upon the Lord AND Lady (the universal energies of masculine and feminine), and all the elements that surrounds us, to be with this example person who is unwell. I'd love to hear your perspective on this example! What makes Christianity view the Christian way of trying to heal one with prayer and lighting a candle for them a non-disobediant "ritual" to do, but the Wiccan way, a sinful way. I hooe this does not make you feel like you need to defend yourself, I hope for a good dialog! Have a wonderful day!

No man whether in the old testament or the new testament are good enough to keep the ten commandments! The ten commandments are written on all men's heart, no matter the culture or people group, thats how we know we are sinners. People before Jesus were saved by believing that God would one day send a savior and messiah to save them from their sins and people after Jesus look to Him as their savior and messiah that has already cleansed their sins, because they put their trust and faith in the finished work on the cross. If you believe that God sent Jesus to die for your sins, because he is perfect and never sinned and rose from the dead on the 3rd day, then you will be saved and become a child of God, because ,through that faith in Jesus he has restored the relationship between God and man once again. Reading "The Case for Christ" a book written by an atheist journalist who examined historical facts - originally seeking to disprove Christianity- ends up converting, this book is the main factor of what convinced me that the resurrection happened. The 1611 KJV has him as the Greco-Romanized Iesous because Greek doesn't have a "Ya" sounnd or a "sh" sound (ref the Sibboleth/Shibboleth issue, Judges 12), and all Greek men's names had to end in the suffix -us. The Bible is a guild and rock people can use in time of stress, prayer, celebration, etc. Just because a lot of people have failed to use it correctly, christian and non, doesn't take away from the power and knowledge that comes from the Bible and God.

He was claiming it is history but didn't go into the details. I have recently been on a hunt for why we should believe in the resurrection and after watching debates and reading various things, I have came to the conclusion that it is more reasonable to believe that Jesus rose from the dead then him not. I recommend reading "The Case For Christ" which is written by an atheist journalist, Lee Strobel, that through looking at historical facts ended up converting. I recommend going on your own journey and looking at the historical evidence for yourself (and maybe reading the book to help you do so). : ) thanks for reading my comment! also I have been commenting on some other peoples comments to, and I might look like a bot cause my comments are similar but I'm not lol just genuinely trying to help people out.

People HAVE adequately accounted for the claim he rose from the dead; they have rationally identified a legend. What evidence do you have that he actually came back from death? There are only stories in a book from late second hand sources--at best. There are simply too many assertions in this video. This claims to be a video trying to convince people to believe; it think it is just here to reinforce the rational of those who already believe. I don't see how this could ever convince a sceptic.

      R. Miller! I thought I might see you on one or more of the TGC video comments again. Have you read any more apologetics since our last convo a month or so ago. I must say that I am curious about your curiosity of these videos. I think these are less apologetic and more personal. My guess is they are taking their proverbial professorial robes off and speaking like they are meeting the listener over a coffee. If you lived near me I would offer to buy the coffee for at least a first talk. I very much enjoy the push back of a friendly debate...not an attempt to 'convert' you. I'm *not* in the conversion business, but I do like discussions that lead to truth & learning.

I have read theology extensively. That is one reason why I still subscribe to the GC channel. I used to follow all the blogs there (DeYoung included). I was a deacon in a Reformed church who held to the Three Forms of Unity. A lack of knowledge of theology is not why I withhold belief. There is simply zero compelling evidence to believe. Theology is only an area of interest for someone who thinks the Bible is inspired--that's no longer me.

      R. Miller what’s your litmus test that makes something compelling enough to believe in anything? 50/50? 90/10? Because the evidence is clearly there about Jesus life, death and resurrection (at least no good explanations have debunked that it’s not at least as likely then not that God actually did raise Jesus from the dead. I’m just wanting to know what your criterion for “compelling” evidence is? The last time I flew in business I thought” I have no idea whether this pilot is drunk, yet I put my life in his hands”. The evidence is there , it’s just what your threshold is- I’m a Christian and I’m not 100% convinced- haha but I’m 99% for sure based on personal instances where God absolutely was the only way something could have happened- I sure hope you are realistic with your burden of proof-

    Listen!
Jesus Christ is not a man. Throw that image out of your head. Throw that shape of a man out your head. Throw that name out of your head.
You are perceiving it as such in your mind because you have been deceived, and you are in the flesh, never in His Spirit.
    God.
    God’s Word.
    God’s Spirit.
“For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.”
    ‭‭
    Isaiah‬ ‭53:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬
To try to look at Him on His physical appearance, there was nothing great to see. He would have had looked messy; torn clothes, dirty feet, thin.
People were only first attracted to Him because of His miracles and healings, as they wanted to fill their stomachs.
The elders despised Him for His simplicity but the world was at His feet.
...but there is none like His nature! None! I cannot explained it here. You must know Him! You will tear, not from your eyes, not from your mind but from your heart; from the core of your being; if you get the chance to see any one event, where His nature is shown to you. I truly cannot explain this. It is beyond this world. He is beautiful. SELFLESS is a not word: nor a word: that can be use to define His depth. Even the word; SELFLESS fails to describe Him.
He was a vessel through which God spoke. Forget His hair, His body, His appearance for you have been deceived by movies; pictures and images and emotional experiences, but remember to remember every word that has been spoken out of His mouth. We need to follow Him, as for many times He said, “Follow me”
Follow my commands. Follow my words.
    Follow my nature.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
    ‭‭
    Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Ignore His physical appearance. Nothing there to see. This is why for when Christ comes again, He will come to judge on who followed the words that were spoken out of His mouth. His physical body in Nazareth was God’s vessel. His throat was God’s voice. His hands were God’s healing power. Many were not able to recognise Him there and then on His earthly lifetime. Think of Him like as Book of Law. This book will be opened during judgement. This book is on God’s right hand. All that has been spoken by God through Christ on earth is written on this book, and this book is used to judge all mankind.
God Himself had come and show us how to live His commandments, He showed us The Way, The Truth and The Life, for we must take this path, each one of us, to live in His Kingdom.
We must follow the word, only then the word saves. There isn’t any long haired man saving us; there is; but I am not going to speak about that evil now.
Follow me. Follow my commands. Follow my example. Follow my nature. Follow me words. For my words lead you to the Kingdom. This is God’s salvation plan for humanity.
He came. He died, He is risen.
Follow me. Follow this path which I have created for you.
This does not mean, that you will be nailed to The Cross. The Cross is an idol. The Cross symbolises, death to one’s self through sacrifice.
I’ll give you an example of The Cross.
    Paul’s cross;
“Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.”
    ‭‭
    2 Corinthians‬ ‭11:24-27‬ ‭KJV‬‬
For the love of the word? Yes but no! For only through the wearing or following the word you can enter into the Kingdom of God, and He cannot stop sharing it!
Most of them are not chosen to be called, because they do not have a heart at all in the first place to know Christ! You must be qualified to enter the Kingdom.
Do you understand? You have been deceived, but you have a heart and God wants to reveal these to you through me so that you can wear it. There are certain things that you are not doing, that if you die today you will not be able to enter in to His Kingdom because you failed and you became disqualified. This is His mercy. He is reminding you.
Not a long hair figure coming to save you. The doctrines are twisted. The reason this is happening to you is because you do not know who satan is! At all. Your definition of satan is your husband, your brother, the drug addict, the prostitute; as an example. Satan is real.
I know him very well. The moment you hear the words the angel of light, it is just a mere word for you, as it does not mean much to you, but I know him very well.
I love you more than words can explain, but you have to buckle up and wear the words.
Remember, you must be in the Spirit to start. How? You put on the Spirit? That is how you have been operating. Wrong. Start with the flesh. Take the first step. Wear His word. He will send you His Spirit at His Will.
Remember, God’s name is represented in His nature. Only when you have His name which is His nature, the demons flee! The sick are healed! The word is preached! My faith is so little when it comes to speaking about the dead being raised but I know my God, the dead will be raised if it is His will and His name will be glorified!
