- From 2003-2009 there was a great alt/punk station out of Los Angeles called Indie 103.1. It gave us Jonesy's Jukebox and so much more. I loved it and listened a lot. Here's my memories.... Enjoy!

I’ve listened Steve Jones quite a bit, he’s the funniest punk guy out there.
yeh i havent listened to him in ages but used to love his show
I watched the " Best Of " Jonesy's Jukebox on CZcams & listened on KLOS FM in Los Angeles. He always had A list guests & understood their stories & they his. That first Bloc Party album is flawless.
yeh i dont know why i stopped listening to him after this station went under and he moved to KLOS.
Radio stations definitely influenced our music tastes great video Steve 😀
indeed jack
Steve,you need 10K
dollars? you can say that again.
Cool video, Steve. There’s an excellent independent radio station in Rochester; WBER I’ve been listening and supporting it for years. Like you, I’ve discovered so many great independent bands listening to that station. They do have an Internet presence.
i gotta check em out. i honestly dont listen to the radio much anymore. prob much like all of us i just got so much stuff ive bought i need to listen to that radio has fallen by the wayside.
Sounds like this was a very interesting radio station. All of the best stations either die or get taken over by commercial interests, it seems. I keep mentioning CFNY, which was the best radio station in the word, in the 80s. Now, it's a generic so-called alt rock station. I still miss the glory days.
yeh i know what ya mean Brian. radio aint like it used to be. even satellite radio doesn’t impress me much. Feel like any time i happen to rent a car that includes SiriusXM and I listen i hear same ol’ same ol’….
'Let's go Blitzkrieg Bop.' Never heard of Indie 103.1 but that was past my time when I was hanging out down there. I remember in the 80's and 90's listening to K-Earth 101 and KLOS when in town. Sounds like a station with a great format.
Little side note, Slater -Kenny is from Olympia, WA and I saw them when they were nobody back in the day.
Sleater-Kinny!
i assumed you had seen sleater-kinney back in the day. probably for $3 too. hahaha. Indie 1031 format was so great. Miss it a lot.
@@STEVEHEROLD I first heard of Sleater-Kinney in the mid 90's on a college radio station called KEXP (it was the first station to play Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc.) I saw them in a place called the Velvet Elvis for probably $5.00 with a few other bands. I had no idea they would become who they are now.
@@tarrtruck2869 i’m very aware of KEXP. I could prob do a influence video about them. Not so much listening to the actual station but they have their KEXP Song of the Week in iTunes that I’ve been getting singles from for ages. Lots of times I’d just download and hope for the best. Have discovered a bunch of bands that way.
Great video as always - you worked for Broadway Video (isn't that Lorne Michael's company) - how amazing is that. What a career you've had.
yeh Broadway is Lorne’s company. it was a cool place to work for a few years. then like anything it became a hassle. we used to have a great time hanging out on the roof of the Brill Building where our offices were. Overlooking Broadway down to Times Sq. Fun times….
@@STEVEHEROLD Sounds like must've been so cool...at least for awhile
