  • Zephyr here with another installment in the Foundry Basics series, this time, on Tiles. We'll go through all of the ins and outs of tiles in base Foundry: tools, configuration, the context menu, manipulating tiles within a scene, and understanding the height of tiles with the console.
    Whether you are brand new to Foundry or a veteran user, this video is intended to be a handy reference for you the next time you're working with tiles in Foundry VTT. Whether you need the absolute basics, a refresher on all of the Overhead Occlusion modes, or an understanding of how tiles stack on top of each other, we've got you covered.
    This video exclusively discusses base, "vanilla," Foundry features as of FoundryVTT v0.8.9. For tutorials on Better Roofs, Levels, and Monk's Active Tile Triggers, see our videos on those modules:

    Another useful tip courtesy of Sharkey on the BW discord: you can hold down the ALT key while resizing tiles to maintain the aspect ratio.

    These videos are great. I get overwhelmed with some of the crazy cool stuff you are all doing. I need basics, thank you!

    Love the channel, started using Foundry to run a game in Greyhawk using the GURPS system. Stuff like this helpful.
    More so since I’m a gen-xer so I’m struggling with comp stuff, lol

    hi there, great video, as always. Not sure which one is better, the great foundry maps / tiles you provide or these amazing videos. One question: what is the preferred choice for video -> animated GIF or MP4? If it is MP4, how do you handle transparency? THX!

    • @Baileywiki
      @Baileywiki  Před 2 lety +1

      If you're talking about the tile video format, then WEBM is the preferred. And it handles transparency. I'm not sure I've even tested any other formats 🤔

      @@Baileywiki Ah ok... If I may ask, where do you get these animations? Or do you create them yourself?

    • @Baileywiki
      @Baileywiki  Před 2 lety

      I picked up most of my animations from the Gorgon. Check my video descriptions for link to his Patreon.
      JB2A, Jack Kerouac, and others are also good sources.

    Hi! I am new to Foundry and love it so far, your videos are a great help, thanks a lot! I do have a question though: I created several folders in the tile browser to manage my assets. Now I am unhappy with the structure and would like to move tiles to a different folder or even folders into other folders…. I just cannot figure out how to do it…😢 any thoughts?

    • @Baileywiki
      @Baileywiki  Před rokem +2

      You want to go into your Foundry data folder from your PC (not from within Foundry itself).
      Then you can manipulate your folder structure and files as much as you like.

    Thanks for the video but when I release the mouse button I don't have the popup to configure the tile :/
    Anyone have an idea for this issue ?

    • @Baileywiki

      Double click the tile. Or double right-click it. Don't hold the mouse down.

    Where do you get all of your assets? Like the castle walls and whatever else you use to build your structures?

    • @Baileywiki
      @Baileywiki  Před rokem

      For the base assets, I used to use Forgotten Adventures a lot. These days I produce my own assets, and dip into assets from Tom Cartos, DungeonQuill, and Epsilon.
