Great refresher on basic lighting. I like these beginner/basic videos as much as the advanced/complicated ones.
Unreal! Super creative use of lighting to create those lava effects! Thanks for sharing, awesome video
I could imagine lighting effects getting so advanced as to create primitive animated spell effects. It's not far off.
People coming to this video on v10 (and maybe newer).
Vision Limitation Thresholds has now changed to Global Illumination Threshold.
As another note if you have Perfect Vision the slider will be replaced with a button that will open up the settings. Which will not have a slider but just box to input a number.
Thanks Mute!
Thanks Zephyr!
Please do a deep dive on Monk's active tiles with tagger and/or how to use sequencer Thanks love the vidoes!!!
Copy that! There are some new developments in that area that are also worth exploring in such a video. I'm on it!
Definitely agree completely. Ty for working on it, Bailey.
This is awesome. Liked and subscribed
Thanks mate!
Hopefully someone is still answering questions here. I’m trying replicate how your example here had the entirety of the outdoor part of your map lit, but the interior was dark, WITHOUT putting a bunch of lights outside.
Unfortunately, as you can see on the top right of their example map, they did use a lot of light sources to light up the outside.
I don't think there is a way to do what you want, unfortunately. If you found a solution though I'm all ears.
Hey! I am using Foundry V11 and I realized there were some changes... I can't find gradual illumination (but I think I can set values for dim/bright illumination and use attenuation to get the desired effect) and I also can't find the option of dim/bright vision for tokens. Is there a way to get this feature in V11?
same, don't know what happened, but no longer a seperation of dim and normal/bright light with a torch to my PC's tokens. Can't seem to find a concrete fix for this
Play with your advanced settings and sliders.
How do I make it so that one player can only see what's up ahead while another player can't. i don't want players sharing the fog of war reveal but i can't seem to figure out how to make that work.
I would like to know if and how I can do a darkness effect. Like the Dungeon & Dragons 5e Darkness spell. Usually I draw a black circle but then even I as a GM can't see anything. Would be cool to know if there is a way to set up a light that removes all light and vision from tokens/light sources
Check out the light config. Change the dim radius to a negative number and see if that does it for you.
@@Baileywiki This is unfortunately not doing it. It get a relatively dark circle but even after playing around with saturation, contrast etc. it is not fully dark. And even worse if the character stands outside of the light source he can see everything normal
@@Eydamos The module Perfect Vision
Dim and Bright doesn't denote any difference, any idea why?
I recently installed the free Baileywiki Maps Pack. Installed all the required modules, imported all the macros, but when I open the Magic Dungeon Mega Demo scene, I see these exclamation marks all over the map, like some art or tiles could not be found. Any idea why this is happening?
Hmm, Stop by my discord and drop a screen shot of what you're seeing in the #report-a-probem channel.

Is there a good light effect for a Rippling water? TY
If there is, I haven't found it. Wel, beyond the lava effect from the video
Quick Q: Have you found a way to make a light that switches between two colours (say red/yellow) like an emergency light? Looking to figure out something for my Alien RPG campaign
I was just use a MATT tile that runs on a loop, changing the color value from one to the other with some kind of delay in between
@@Baileywiki that’s what I was thinking, but MATT isn’t showing up in my Aliens system (v10) :(
It's been updating a lot lately. Have you tried updating today?
@@Baileywiki Unfortunately the v11 doesn't work with the V10 Alien system so it wasn't even showing up. So to use it I had to roll that back and Now I can see it. Of course that rolls Monks back on all my game systems. (on the Forge)
Basics: Lighting ... followed by Advanced VTT mapping.
So which is it? Basic or advanced?
It's both. As a body of work, we also cover basics. Everybody start somewhere 🙂
