  • This time we have a composition by Josef Kling, Bernhard Horwitz from Chess Studies and End-games, 1889. We arrived at an endgame which white has double pawns on the D file, while black only has one. It’s white to move and win the game. What makes this endgame so important is that if white would have only one pawn, this game would actually be a draw.
I hope you enjoyed Josef Kling study and learned something valuable from it. Even if at the first glance this endgame is easy when doing it as a puzzle, you may have a hard time doing it In a real game scenario. You saw how easy the game could turn into a draw if you don’t make the correct move order. So as always, keep practicing your endgame and never give up. Cheers

What if in the second move, the black king goes back to d8?

black would lose, he must maintain opposition and not let white king approach

I mean, after 5:20 instead of going around, maintain opposition by going back to d8, then keep blocking the white king as in the other cases.

@@ChessCrafters-lk4dvthe mission is to get black pawn with the king so you can get a new queen or 2 😝, move both pawn is a must for white and get king to e8 or c8 to remove the fkn pawn, so the goal for white is to move away 2 or 3 to timing the white king squares to opposite direction of white king and then move back to make the game endless
