@@pawoon Its pretty close to perfect in terms of Governance the imperfections at the moment are simply due to the fact it was once feudal 50 years ago and it takes time for those values to change, you cant just force the older generations to change overnight. But in terms of how the Government is working, its pretty perfect really, always going in the right direction always pushing never forcing. Beautiful country to live in.

As you say Luke, it’s early days yet and it’s hard to tell which way the Labour government will go - as there’re so many different factors at play.
A good guidance for Sir Keir and David Lamy (Labour Shadow Foreign Secretary) would be the formulation taken by the current Australian labour government… “We will cooperate where we can, disagree where we must. We will engage in our national interest.” What’s left unsaid is that we are nobody’s sidekick or lapdog.
The new UK government must also learn to stop the grandstanding megaphone diplomacy which the Tories had engaged in under Boris, Truss and Sunak.

Utterly blind to the sufferings of the British common people and that was why he and his Torie s have been tossed out - which is really a warning to the incoming Starmer Labor Party as well - "you work for the people as THEIR public servant or else ..." - which is something that our politi cal leaders just don't seem to get it.

The UK is past, once important but less relevant year after year. Regarding UK Visa free to China FORGET IT. The UK visa process for Chinese is the worse process ever. I know several Chinese who went through the Tourist visa process and in 2023 and 2024 and they will NEVER EVER visit UK again. This includes one person who has had Schengen Visa's in past, as a valid 10 year US visa and permanent residence status for Canada.

UK government always go after business interests and working with China is in the right direction … however, US demand is also important - after all, western democracy needed to be seen superior through military and economy might but how? Actually, US hard on China even embargo has benefit Europe businesses in the past - Chinese government open doors to the world in the 70s and started businesses with UK, Germany, France, Italy and Scandinavia through trading houses in Hong Kong while Japan businesses did it through Japanese trading companies and government sponsorship as a post WWII friendship gesture. US businesses enter China much later in the 80s and then everybody after 2000 or WTO.
