The actor who played Frank (Mike Reid) died in 2007. They subsequently killed his character off-screen.

Pat died in 2012. They killed her with Terminal Cancer only finding out not even a month before she died that it was Terminal. Pam St Clement who played Pat didn't want her character killed off, she asked the BBC for a break, and to which they decided to kill her off. Barbara Windsor who plays Peggy was NOT happy either that they decided to kill Pat off, and even said it was one of the worst decisions the BBC made was to kill Pat off as you don't see characters like Pat anymore. (Barbara said this in Peggy and Pats Back To Ours episode).
