  • Riding my new 2023 Husqvarna TX300 Heritage Edition back to back with my 2023 Beta 300 Race Edition on an old school GP track. Back to back rides are a great way to get a feel for the different characteristics of each bike. Thought on each bike....
    2023 Husqvarna TX300 Heritage Edition: Lap Time 2:08.6
    Big power that is controllable with strong linear partial throttle torque. Chassis is a great mix of cornering and stability. Stock suspension is very adjustable for different rider weights and conditions though AER forks are polarizing. I have a set of WP Pro Components Cone Valve spring forks on for this ride. This bike looks like it is 1983 all over again!
    2023 Beta 300 Race Edition: Lap Time 2:08.4
    Super smooth power with a full flywheel feel that is easy to modulate. The KYB suspension feels plush especially on the little chop. The Beta chassis has a quick front end steering feel. Nissan brakes with Galfer rotors are strong with a Brembo like aggressive initial bite feel. Beta Race Edition models look so good!
    Only a 0.2 second lap time difference between these very different 300 2-strokes!!! High tech fuel injection vs the simple carburetor! These 300's are so much fun to ride. More back to back rides soon!

      The Beta engine is so quiet and the power so smooth!

    Thanks for all the time that you put into your videos, I personally appreciate all your videos, they are the best. I have asked you questions before about these two bikes, it’s a tough comparison both bikes are very nice, each with their own strengths. Their is one question that has alluded me in regards to the Beta, I cannot seem to find any concrete information on HP we know the TBI has around 55, but I have no real idea about the RE I have hear 39, 42,44 does anyone know definitively the true HP on the Beta RE? Hopefully someone knows! Either way thank you always for your time!

      Glad you enjoy the channel! There does not seem to be much focus on the rear wheel hp of the Beta 300 2-strokes! MXA and Dirt Bike do not publish dyno runs on the Beta 300's. Riding the '23 Beta 300RE back to back with the '23 300XC or '23 TX300 there is noticeably less peak power and the Beta builds engine RPM's more slowly with a very rider friendly build of power. Still plenty of torque on the Beta and still feels fast. The 300 TBI engines are very responsive and very powerful and combined with the lightweight of the bike make for a quick responding machine - too quick for some riders. Both engines make fun to ride broad linear 2-stroke power!

    Good video, I have a couple 300’s too. 2017 KTM XCW with Keihin and a 2021 Husqvarna TE300i. Both are great, but very different power delivery. Thinking of adding a 450 to the stable, but not sure which one? 450 will be doing mountain trails in summer and Timbersled in winter.

      @mxengineer1  Před rokem

      If you want to stay with Austrian bikes similar to what you have the 2023 KTM 450XCW is a sleeper bike...finally unrestricted from KTM (full power), 6-speed for woods/open riding, comes with full lighting. Seems like a great choice for your planned usage plus there is a rebate to dealers on them now so that makes the deal even better. The '23 YZ450F is a beast and would rip the snow in the winter so well...of course a 23/24 KTM 450SXF would do the same but these full on moto bikes have that tall 1st gear and tight MX transmission ratios. I've never ridden a Timbersled - looks like a lot of fun!

    Beta sounds very clean and crisp. Carbs are not obsolete yet! If I had to pick one to fix on the side of a remote trail would 100% pick the Beta!!! LOL!

      I know you ride in some remote places up there in BC so yes the more simple Beta would be my choice for trail side repairs!

    Love my 2023 Beta 300RR. Rekluse clutch is my favourite add on. Smart carb 2 is going on this spring. Still like my Yamaha WR 450 for open country though. Baja style. Cheers from north eastern Ontario Canada!

      @mxengineer1  Před 4 měsíci

      Oh Canada! Been to Aliston, Ontario many times. I am curious - my 23/24 Beta 300RE's both run so clean for my location I have little motivation to try different jetting let alone a complete carb change.. I am just curious why do you want to switch to the Smart Carb 2?

      @vladbronnikov9813 recluse clutches are really good for woods especially because some have it to where you don't have to use the clutch in 1st or 2nd making it nicer for Enduro style riding

    Have a 22 300rr, looking at 23 tx300 and 23 beta 300 RE, what is top speed with stock gearing ? Thanks great videos.

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před rokem +1

      I have not checked top speed on either bike! My seat of the pants feeling is the Beta has a slightly taller 6th gear so perhaps a few MPH higher top speed....I think either of these bike will 80~83 mph in 6th gear

  • @ridendrive

    If you were going for a 300 SX bike. Would be choosing KTM 300SX or Beta 300 RX?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před rokem

      Both great choices. The KTM offers latest technology with throttle body fuel injection and electronic power valve which gives the bike very strong partial throttle linear torque. Motocroass Action magazine test on the '23 KTM 300SX shows 55hp at the rear wheel - very strong. The Beta offers a simple engine and carb that simply works and is easy to dial in with the power valve preload spring. KYB suspension on the Beta has a slight edge over the more polarizing AER forks on the KTM. No wrong choice!

  • @usa45v26
    @usa45v26 Před rokem

    One thing i noticed is the KTM 300XC (in previous back to back) sounds deeper than the Husqvarna and the Beta. Maybe just audio in vid or maybe open airbox?? Do you notice any difference?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před rokem

      You are very perceptive! The air box opening is under the seat in a more open area on the 23 KTM 300XC. On the Husky TX300 that opening under the seat is closed off the and intake is a slot on the left side cover. The TX300 does have a little less intake noise. Power or throttle response wise I do not notice much of a difference - both are fast! I do notice the smaller radiator shrouds on the TX300 and the thinner seat - little lower seat height.

      Yes the 55HP TX300 (like the 300XC) is a beast of an engine!

    I have a 24 300 RE. Seeing these sales on Ktm Husky, I am going to pick one up this week. Just curious what other bike you would pick to go alongside your Beta? 2t or 4t - what would your experienced self pick?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I still have my '23 TX300 and now have a '24 Beta 300RE (dual plugs are twice the fun!), and for moto I have a 24.5 KTM 450 Factory Edition. I also still have a well sorted '21 KTM 350XCF Kailub Russell Edition. With the latest rounds of Austrian Rebates I am very tempted to pick up a '24 FX350 to try out the latest spring forks and that model comes with Brembo brakes and an o-ring chain for 24 model year. But I like the updated chassis on the 24.5 450FE and think it would be even better on a '25 FX350 or '25 KTM 350 Factory Edition...nice to have choices! My garage always has a 300 smoker(s) and 350(s) thumpers so I'd say pick up an Austrian 350 thumper - all of them are on sale. Red sure is a nice color so maybe get on the Gas Gas?

      @@mxengineer1 does it makes sense to only have two 300 2t’s? That’s what I keep asking myself 🤣

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před 2 měsíci

      @@Shareeftraish Austrian 300 TBI and the Beta 300RE are both so good - each has their own character and both very fun to ride. I will say the lightweight, smooth power, low engine inertia, no engine braking on the 300's can make a thumper feel kind of heavy and slow to respond!🤣

    I was going back and forth between the two and got the 23 tx 300 husky because of fuel injection, and less vibration. The beta does look nicer though…
    Just got back inside from ripping my tx300 on my farm in the field. Nothing like banging through the gears in powerband with the front wheel off the ground, love doing wheelies also.

    • @mxengineer1

      I've not experienced any clutch noise - the engine in my '23 Beta 300 Race Edition is very quiet - less mechanical noise (even on the clutch side) than my '23 Husky TXC300.

    Great bikes for hard Enduro and very expensive unless you're made of and I think 90% of the people that by them would probably be just as fast or faster in the woods with the Honda crf250f even if they won't admit it just my two cents
