    Would love to know your thoughts on the Cone Valve vs KYB fork? I have KYB on Sherco now and they are great. About to pick up a TX and wondering if CV will be better than the KYB I’m used to. Big debate for me on spending the extra $$$

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před rokem +2

      I regularly ride a lot of different bikes. You may be surprised just how well the stock AER forks work on a TX300 (especially the '23 model). Give new AER forks a good 4~6 hours of ride time from new to fully break in and also spin the clickers and try different air pressure settings. KYB forks generally work for a broad range of riders and terrain and the '23 Beta 300 RE KYB setting is very good off road. WP Cone Valve spring forks are also very good when set up properly for the rider (which does not always happen). The WP CV's have special coatings to reduce friction which can make the movement a bit more supple on the little chop. Lots of opinions about which is the "best"...the only opinion that matters is yours! Enjoy your new TX300 and us know your thoughts on the bike. I just picked up one yesterday and will have some ride review videos posted shortly!

    You can put good quality zip ties around that rubber exhaust connector (pipe to silencer) where the 2 indentions are. That will stop the oil from splattering on everything.

    I really appreciate your content, it’s always technical and on point. I understand that the KTM is more powerful and spec wise has more ponies to offer up, but is it much faster in the wide open stuff, basically I guess I’m asking does it flat out stomp all over the Beta, and if so by how much, I understand it’s a-lot of opinion and preference when it comes to reviews everyone likes and prefers what they will, would you mind if I just ask which one you would prefer if you could only afford one???

      @mxengineer1  Před rokem +3

      Glad you enjoy the channel and reviews! If I can only have (1) the engineer in me give the edge to the '23 KTM 300XC TBI. The level of power and controllability is impressive and almost no engine vibration and no need for jetting. However some riders I know get into the mountains far from their trucks so reliability and being able to fix a bike on the trail becomes very important so these riders may prefer the very simple yet effective Beta.

      The Beta 300 Race Edition has simple carbureted and mechanical power valve engine with very smooth power (less than the 300TBI bikes) and a quick steering/handling chassis and off road focused KYB suspension that works very well. The '23 TX300 has a quick revving and ery powerful 300 fuel injected engine with strong partial throttle torque response with a great mix of cornering and stability and very adjustable suspension. What do you think about your TX300? If I could only have 1-bike... czcams.com/video/F4Q9MlBxTRU/video.html

    Which bike do you recommend of the two

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před rokem +2

      Depends on what characteristics your prefer. Some riders like a smoother power, simple technology, and KYB suspension so the Beta is appealing. The new KTM/Husky 300 TBI engines set the bar for partial throttle linear torque response in a 2-stroke and are also simply very powerful 2-strokes (MXA magazine test on the 23 KTM 300SX said their test bike made 55 hp at the rear wheel - that is a lot of power). Personally I give a slight edge to the KTM as I like the power and response of the engine and with a counterbalancer there is almost no vibration

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před rokem

      Great question! Pick the characteristics you like. Beta has the simpler 2-stroke engine with classic carb and mechanical power valve with broad smooth power. Beta has well sort KYB suspension (on the Race Editions) and Sachs on the RR models (which also come with oil injection) and a linkage rear suspension. For carb bikes Beta's run clean over a wide range of temperatures.
      KTM offers gas and go simplicity with the TPI 300EXC which has both fuel and oil injection. The TPI bikes run clean with no jetting and also have more parts including fuel pumps, sensors, injectors, etc. The PDS non linkage rear suspension is simple and lightweight offering plenty of clearance over obstacles along with minimal maintenance.
      Nice to have choices!
