On the Grape-kun story: They took the cut out down to try and get him to court real penguins, but he got so depressed they put it back up, and he went right back to trying to court the cut out.

Another thing worth noting is that humboldt penguins typically mate for life, however his mate had basically "divorced" him for another younger penguin in the same enclosure, and had lead to the other penguins in the enclosure to reject him, which is likely part of the reason he was drawn to the cut out.

If no one has said it yet, the Who Killed Captain Alex with that "Video Joker" is the original. There isn't really a version without that, basically what happened was pirates would put a track like that on stolen movies so they could legally call it transformative work and sell it internationally but, people were used to seeing movies that way in Uganda, so when the director and his neighbors made that movie they decided to include one themselves. It also starts immediately upon putting it in your DVD player because in his words, many people in his home town have lost their remotes so that makes watching the movies easier.
Also for clarity, Fyre did offer that 12000 dollar ticket but there's nothing to indicate anyone bought one. The majority of people were there on the cheapest pass available for the full week. The media did clown on the guests by suggesting everyone there was ultra rich but most people involved were just like, normal middle class couples and families suckered in because the lowest price package was actually cheaper than going to Great Exuma and staying in a big hotel. Supposedly this was part of their downfall, because Fyre planned to pay for everything using ticket fees but they didn't actually charge enough to pull it off.

Lucid dreaming worked for me. I kept a journal and took melatonin and 5htp and kept the doces marked in my journal. My reality check was trying to make a ball of flame in my hand. I would wake up every morning and do it, while listening to a lecture or whenever I felt odd. I actually stopped because my sleep schedule started to become bad and one month in I started to up the dosage of 5htp. I would sleep super good but felt tired when I woke up. Definitely controlled my dreams and it was awesome.

yup i also practice lucid dreaming, it starts with keeping a dream journal and memory exercises. unfortunately it does have side effects. personally i never have sleep paralysis but this is the number one thing i warn people about if they want to try this, it can apparently be very nasty for some people (i did used to have this when i was very young, which is prob what spawned my eventual interest in lucid dreaming, ofc i was too young then to know what sleep paralysis was, and i think many children have it normally). i also fear i also impacted my own brain in a minor way with sleep deprivation so i would NOT suggest depriving yourself of sleep.

However when I try to pull those out, they wouldn't at all and after doing so for some time realize that I was in a dream and my mom wakes me and sits besides me. I try to get the pieces out but they wouldn't at all as my mom asked me what was I doing. This repeated twice before I actually woke up.

The company makes plushes that are alien-like in nature and people want to buy them because, well, just look at them. A lot of the people who make fan videos of their ItemLabel plushes are not always paid by the company to show them off, I think that’s just the fanbase showing their collection or are in on the joke. The videos and ads they do make on CZcams, TikTok and Instagram are also random in nature so to speak. They advertise their products in a way I haven’t seen before, however, that’s the charm of the company and the products; it’s silly and doesn’t make sense, hence why it has us fans.

I got really into lucid dreaming a few years ago. It sounds too good to be true, but it really does work. Consistently doing reality checks can be tricky, as well as finding a check that works well for you, but once you make a good habit out of it they work like a charm.
From what I know the dream journals are more for better remembering your dreams - I'm not sure how much they actually improve your chances for lucid dreaming. But they certainly work well for remembering dreams, and even if you don't have lucid dreams it's pretty cool to be able to remember the crazy shit that can happen in dreams.

In my experience the best method is using guided hypnosis videos designed for lucid dreaming. There are some really good ones on CZcams. Once you figure it out, you can go directly from being awake to "waking up" in a lucid dream, fully in control. No need for reality checks or any other stuff that requires "work". Just be prepared to potentially have to deal with sleep paralysis for a few moments when you regain consciousness, which can be very scary for the uninitiated.

29:26 The Elisa Lam case has mostly been solved. Its been stated she was suffering from a severe mental disorder and off her medication at the time of CCTV footage, as well as testimony from her hotel roomates days before she dissappeared. The water tank was found with the lid open, meaning Lisa could have opened it in a state of panic and disorientation and entered the water where she lost her life. Its still a mystery as to how she was able to get roof access and her more peculiar movements during those days off her medication, but this largely explains her dissappearance and death.

I wouldn't call their business model "viral marketing schemes" in the sense of relating to #youth but rather that their brand actually appeals to the internet.
It's a project by a lady in Japan who makes a lot of weird, eclectic art. The theme song was made by her, and it showcases her off-beat taste. Their staff is equally into surrealist humor, and the main social media outreach guy (Jamz) is a PS2-era styled Vtuber/content creator who also creates his own assets.
All of their branding, music, and in-jokes as well as the "universe" theyve created is very clearly brought up through genuine passion and fun, and they love to interact with their community. They don't try to appeal to anything but their own image.

You could make an entire video on Bir Tawil (and many people have). Short version: Egypt and Sudan have a border dispute based on interpretations of documents that former colonial powers set out as their borders. If you look at what both countries claim as their territories, neither claim a strip of the Saharan Desert called Bir Tawil. To say it's not claimed isn't entirely accurate; it's just that both countries insist it belongs to the other. It doesn't mean the piece of land is "up for grabs" for anyone to be able to say it's theirs; nobody would recognize such a claim and to actually be a country would require some sort of international recognition. As a practical matter, the land is in the middle of nowhere and has no services or infrastructure that would allow anyone to well, live independently there, much less rule it as a sovereign nation. Hasn't stopped some from trying though most attempts were probably just jokes.

Library of Babel was actually based on a short story of the same name where they found an infinite library with random combinations of letters in each book. It talks alot about how people reacted to it, with some throwing their lives into a religious quest to find some meaning out of the nonsense, while others decided to cleanse the library by destroying any test deemed indecipherable or nonsensical. Eventually humanity lost interest in the library, with most leaving, dying of old age, or even killing each other in disputes over what should be done with the library. Very interesting story that is worth the read, and I'm somewhat disappointed that it wasn't brought up in the iceberg.

Super surprised to see Phantom Limb Syndrome on here, I am an amputee and I experience Phantom Limb Syndrome.
It is a really interesting phenomenon to be sure. My personal theory is that being that we are born with said limb we have neural pathways to accept stimuli to and from the limb.
Once we lose the limb we still have those same pathways and (possibly) in an effort to not lose them, as that could lead to those pathways dying, our brain randomly triggers them so they are still being used and therefore staying alive.
That may sound weird but that is my theory, though I know from experience that even bad weather can effect the phantom limb so I don’t think it is an airtight theory.
But I was surprised it was on the iceberg especially because it looked like it was a bit far down, but isn’t really *disturbing*

In the occult and esoteric world of the metaphysical, it is known that living beings are composed of multiple bodies, with the physical material body being the lowest and most tangible. The self is composed of multiple bodies like the mental body, the etheric body, etc. That all overlap each other and work together to create your conscious existence on earth. Though a limb of the physical body may be missing, that limb continues to exist on the mental/emotional/etheric plane intact. Perhaps this may be the answer to the phantom limb sensation that many wonder about.

On Pool's Closed: it goes a bit deeper.
The habbo pool was specifically closed because it was infected with aids and that's why people blocked it.
When it gets weird is someone posted an image of the black guy in an afro and a suit (the habbo character) on a local swimming pool somewhere with the caption "pool's closed due to aids".
Some woman went there with her children a week prior and thought that someone put up that poster because her children were black (not the case it was just a meme). So there was a big local news article on it, and so later someone photoshopped that woman in an afro with the caption "pool's open" which again attracted media attention. Also the raid wasn't because of the mods banning dark skinned characters. The raiders would constantly say nigger and stand in swastika formation, I can guarantee they weren't concerned with habbo's supposed racism.

Don't get "Paris Syndrome" about lucid dreaming, guys. It's not life-changing or psychedelic.
I have lucid dreamed since childhood. When I was an older kid, I found it kinda interesting, but the appeal wore off really quickly. It's like if you were acting in a play and suddenly started being like "oh, this is fiction, isn't it?" It's awkward. On the other hand, I ended up lucid dreaming the other day by accident. I was dreaming about a sort of mystery plot and was talking to my (in real life, estranged) brother. He had nothing more to say beyond what he had already told me, like a video game character, but I so desperately wished he would act like the real him that I became lucid. Sure, I could control myself, but I couldn't hang out with my big bro again because I knew this wasn't him.
I couldn't play along with the plot anymore. I don't think straight while lucid dreaming, so I just kept trying to talk to him over and over. I woke up totally heartbroken. I did such a poor job of hiding how bad I felt that my partner chose to push back his work schedule to comfort me.
Also, the sleep quality is very poor. You don't feel like you got a full rest, probably because it's a part of your brain being woken up when it's supposed to be asleep.
It's not awful, it's cool to have an unusual experience, but don't dope yourself with dodgy pills over it. Go to a rave or climb a mountain or something, it'll give you a way deeper experience than becoming aware that you're sleeping.

Some additional info regarding some of these factoids:
    - Jim Davis himself has acknowledged the existence of "Garfield Minus Garfield" and has said that he likes it, considering it an interesting interpretation of his work. Jon's perceived loneliness was later addressed by finally pairing Jon and Liz the veterinarian after several years of a "will they, won't they" dynamic.
    - Tommy Wiseau has admitted as of recently that he was born in Poland, as people speculated he was Polish because in "The Room" there is a scene of Johnny and Mark's confrontation at Johnny's birthday party where he refers to Mark as a chicken and says, "cheep cheep cheep", which is the Polish interpretation of a chicken clucking. He has also said that he funded "The Room" using money he received by importing leather jackets from Korea.
EDIT: An additional factoid about "The Room" is that the HD version of the film is lost media. Wiseau before filming began purchased two professional movie cameras, one in 35mm and one in full high-definition. This goes against standard filmmaking protocol as cameras are usually rented rather than bought as it's cheaper and keeps production cost low. During the movie's development, Wiseau requested that the film be filmed simultaneously on both cameras, but eventually decided to simply scrap the HD camera entirely, making the HD version of the film lost media, as Wiseau presumably threw away the existing footage along with the camera.
