  • England rugby star Joe Marler opens up on the stigma surrounding mental health issues in rugby, and how opening up on his own battle paved the way for others to express themselves.
    Marler's well-documented mental health problems almost culminated in him taking his own life, but he found expressing himself through the medium of a documentary helped ease the pain.

    Physical strength and mental strength are poles apart. I can see that not wanting to let fans or teamates down meant joe would run through a brick wall, but that same desire to succeed the strain must be overwhelming. If you havent read it already read his book its brilliant. One of my all time rugby heroes

    Thx for sharing. It’s so important for us men to feel we can be honest with ourselves and others. The more be can break down the barriers of being expected to be invincible the better. This is a great step in the right direction. Keep communicating.
