A beautiful guitar with a beautiful tone as well. The inlay work on the neck and headstock is incredible, just a pity that this was not shown in the build sequence along with the rib contouring. Outstanding craftsmanship throughout. My appreciation for showing your skills, sir.

So great to see a builder bend by hand. Everyone has gone to machines and hand bending is a dying art. They dont even teach it in the luthiery schools. Ive been hand bending for 40 years.

@@micheloderso I think the producers of the video are out to highlight Japanese craftsmanship and are not trying to do a 'guitar build walkthrough'. Still, it was pleasure to watch. Their other videos are great.
@@marekbage Yes of course. I love Guitars made in Japan, i own two Ibanez made in Japan. The craftmanship is undiscussed and outstanding. But if you title a video "Making of ....." - a special Instrument, and you see the Production of 5 Guitars then you should be irritadet.

I understand why companies would think leaving the top of the rosette open would be the best for the top. But it actually creates a weak point. The rosette is not just a decorative feature but a structural one that is needed to reinforce the top around the sound hole. That is why it should be made around the entire whole, not just what is visible.
That makes little sense, since there is both, the fingerboard glued to the top and reinforcements on the inside of the guitar glued to the top that strengthens the soundboard in the area where there is no rosette inlay. Compared to fingerboard and bracing the rosette adds very little reinforcement to the top.

00:17, why is he tapping the back of the guitar? I don't believe the back is responsible for much of the acoustic qualities of the guitar. It's also leaning on the player's abdomen while he plays.

Pricings? I have no clue...but start with how much time it took to build, mulitply by how much YOU would charge for your time...and then double that! This craftsman is absolutely amazing!!

Dermot McIlroy makes quality hand - built instruments in N. Ireland. I’ve been to his workshop and seen how it all works. Real skills. I couldn’t make a piece of 4 by 2 so I’m always awestruck by this stuff

Nice video. But it's kind of a shame to have one minute of setting up and not even a second devoted to critical steps and design choices like fretboard making, the side port of one of the guitars, the making of both type of cutaways, the rebate in the sides or the pearl inlay.😢
