I had a stalker for 9 days on a cruise and he truly almost got to me, cornered me alone in an elevator very late at night. A random couple got on and the woman noticed me giving her a look, so she pretended to know me and I got off with them. No idea what would’ve happened if they hadn’t saved me.
@@arbigodaj6442relax, it's just a joke. Besides a lot of the creepiest Chilla's Art games (that Sean had played) are females, and the plot revolves around the social issues they faced

@@arbigodaj6442 This is the second of your comments I've seen replying to comments about people saying that women being stalked is unfortunately a common problem. I understand that men and boys can be attacked and stalked but the theme of these games and these comments is commenting on how, unfortunately, common it is for these sort of things to happen to women who live of their own, this doesn't mean that they are demeaning mens problems or saying that these things can't happen to them (which obviously it can there are many true crime cases where men have been stalked and killed by a woman or another man), they're just saying and highlighting that this is a common problem that women have to face and bringing light to it. Women should be able to complain about things that happen to them without men bringing up that it happens to them too. Both men and women should never have to be stalked and both men and women should be believed when they reveal to others that they may be being stalked but in this video and in these games they are focusing on women. There are plenty of games where men get stalked if you want to watch those instead.
@@arbigodaj6442 "once in a blue moon"? more like every single week. i have a group of female friends and some of them post on instagram. they get creeps and weirdos following and messaging them all the time, including this one guy who tried to get with all of them. its extremely common for women to go through things like this but you are just being ignorant
Fun fact: the guy in the shop was talking about "Hassaku-san" ...and the detective in the closing shift was named Hassaku! so parasocial definitely happens after the events of the closing shift! and the barista who took our order looked a LOT like Funahashi senpai, the guy that was our manager in the closing shift

yes continue to politicize something as unrelated as a short story horror game made by an indie developer. Not everything is a representation of how hard it is to be a man or a woman. It's a basic setting for a game, not a hidden critique of society's issues regarding problems that men have or problems that women have. This game is based off of Vtubers which a a big part of video content and creation and the problems within the horror story are related to real-world problems of stalking, parasocial fans that don't know boundaries, etc that can occur to any video creator. Drop this bs and just enjoy watching the video and sean.
and also those two girls whose conversation we overheard, where one was fatshaming the other, were also from the closing shift, except they were highschoolers in that game and here they're working adults
I was stalked by a guy I smiled at in passing on my way to school. No idea who he was, never met him before. I was just in a good mood that morning so I smiled at him. It’s scary how little it takes for someone to resort to stalking.
i never know whether smiling might invite someone into thinking i wanted something more then to just be friendly, or if not smiling could set the wrong person off one day and have them assume im cold and stuck up. there is no safe option.
Wow.. that's freaky.. 😨 That's why sometimes i just look straight ahead and not even try to glance at men while walking past them.. you just feel like a prey around a predator.. Some would just outrightly assume that you're into them if you showed even just a slight of attention or interest to them. It's upsetting that you could not even attempt to just be nice without your actions being interpreted into something else anymore 😓
Same. I was smiling to that one customer as my "work smile". And then I saw him outside of work for over a week or more. Only after I said to him I have a bf who's more older,he left me.
It's a saying in Japan, ohana tsumi ni iku, which translates to "I'm gonna go pick flowers". It's code for "I'm going to the toilet". They translated that way too literally lol.
Can I just say? The employee that stopped the boyfriend is a great person man, like if you see someone being harassed in public, step in, and protect the person being harassed!
A it just me or did anyone else notice that Mayumi and Mari were literally the high school girls from The Closing Shift game. And now they're grown up and literally talking about how they missed their high school days while they're in the same coffee shop which means it's still their usual coffee place. Also Mayumi needs new friends considering they're STILL being so mean to her even as mature adults.
I feel like that friend is actually okay since I'd rather have someone tell me my wrongdoings than indulge me in a path of mistakes. In this case, become fat and unhealthy.
@@Eurelia-nv7vi I get you and I agree. I just believe there is a nicer way of saying things especially to a friend. Altho I guess if they dont take the advice and you're genuinely concerned a bit of tough love would be needed 🤔
A lot of Chilla's Art other games were featured in this game. The truck at the beginning is from the delivery game, obviously the coffee shop for the closing shift (and senpi and the character you play are behind the counter) the convenience store is played for a bit. And an extra bit of info. The first game ILoveNina! sent in the stream's chat is the layout of the stalkers apartment where you find Asuka. And all the games after that are references or complete copies of the places she's been. And the games context of taking the woman away from the "evil" police, is the stalkers reference of him saving her and locking her away. Sorry for the long explanation😅
God, that is so cool. Chilla's Art is fantastic at little details, they're one fantastic example of how any developer can make an engaging, immersive, and (in the case of horror) terrifying experience without relying strongly on graphics or groundbreaking mechanics
for the people who’s confused about the boyfriend pathway and what’s wrong, it’s basically that the boyfriend had paid or idk, basically exchanged so he puts Nina in that horrifying situation, and then he swoops in and “saves” her and so she feels indebted or changes perspective on him so she goes out with him again or she gets attached to him. basically, he got what the wanted.
He's a dang crazy obsessive ex-boyfriend.. Setting up everything just to get back with Nina and even getting his own mother in on it, like what the actual heck.. 😨 I would want to live in another dimension if there are actual real people in this world who would go on such extreme lenghts just to get something they want.. god it's terrifying.. 😰
@@reinlee5542 unfortunately, there are these kinds of people in this world. Catfishers are similar in this tactic, sometimes they make their own "friend's" accounts on multiple phones. And when you're suspicious that they're catfishing you, one of the "friends" that in reality is the catfish, they will gaslight you. One of my old friend groups was like this where this one guy catfished as some influencer with edits on his face, as his model brother, and even as his brother's wife. In reality, he was some asian kid. He managed to gaslight everyone and for those who pointed him out, his gaslit followers were the first to jump to his defense and ended up ostracizing them. And in this game, essentially the boyfriend got people involved in order to gaslight Nina into thinking she was in danger, that her friend was against her, and that she was actually being stalked all in order for her to get back together with him due to feelings of gratitude.
Worst part is there are people in real life who try shit like this just because women sometimes go for guys who seem like heroes to them and make them feel safe. They put the woman's life in false danger to make them feel safe with them.
As a Japanese citizen, I feel I must give context for the 40 degrees thing on 14:36 for jack😂 That 40 Celsius shown on the wall is about hot water for the bath/shower/sink (給湯means “give hot water” if translated directly). In japan we have a machine that shows the number how warm we can make the water, and turn it on and off. We Japanese ain’t lizards, trust me😂❤
Yeah I loved that, it’s something more people definitely need to realise. Although I do hugely sympathise. There’s a lot of people out there who literally just want a friend, a connection with someone. So having a person seemingly devoted to entertaining ‘you’ must feel so, alluring. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using them as a placebo, just to know there is a person out there who appreciates you (even if just as a fan/viewer) But, that’s definitely where it should end. Any kind of co-dependent relationship is extremely unhealthy
@@Wayrail boundaries is a HUGE topic so I suggest checking out some books about it! Boundaries by Townsend and Cloud is typically the one we refer clients to. To give a brief description, setting boundaries is all about assertiveness. Being assertive is often confused with being aggressive when communicating, when in actuality assertiveness is just communicating in a way that upholds your self-respect, while respecting the other individual. Boundaries should revolve around your values and limitations you have/set for yourself. Like I said, HUGE topic so I suggest doing more reading and research! A CZcams comment cannot do the importance of boundaries justice!!! Lol
@@ambertaylor1770 I feel so dumb right now lol I should have asked my therapist or any therapist I know to help me explain what it means to be assertive about your boundaries. I had to learn how to set boundaries and maintain boundaries but when my friends asked me for tips on how to do it, I had a really hard time explaining that setting boundaries doesn't mean saying no to everything and being aggressive with people.
I really appreciate that Chilla’s Art puts emphasis on something way too many women (and people) experience. Even if you’re in clear distress, people are so quick to question whether you’re imagining things or exaggerating for attention, and you end up being weary of everyone constantly. Woman simulator 10000 😅
Yes this… a few instances in the game have happened to me in real life like being stalked or having to always check around to make sure I’m not being watched. Also the police being useless or unhelpful is such a big one… :/
It's crazy how no matter who you are, woman or man. There will always be someone who is just like "nah you're faking it" and not help you. It makes me lose faith in humanity
I'm a man, I'm 6"2', I have a gigantic beard, and I own multiple guns. I would still never tell anyone that I live alone 😅 It's such a terrifying thing to say out loud.
It’s also such a dumb thing to ask, you wouldn’t convince me that you’re a danger more if you put a pistol to my head. Might as well carry a neon sign, spelling „SUS” at all times.
I’ve never been stalked or anything before but I am so scared of going into places alone, even during the day because idk who could be around. EDIT: I also love how upset Jack got about the girl calling the other friend fat, such a good guy.
@@samwarren6008 It's a phrase mainly used by girls, but it's well-known amongst everyone. It's like the japanese equivalant of saying "answering nature's call" or "drain the snake." it isn't meant to be taken literally.
25:48 Hasaku was the private investigator from the previous game Closing Shift, looks like his body is still missing so his student doesn't know he is already dead. Nice little details. It also confirms this game happened after the incident in Closing Shift.
You can see the protagonist of the closing shift working in the background as well. Proves she wasn't killed in her house afterwards... just sexually assaulted probably :/
@@nostressjustcress-fr1uv I think there was also a theory about the heroine from the Closing Shift having PTSD and thinking the stalker is still out there. Some people theorized her narration at the end didn't make sense since she dropped a brick on a guy's head, that definitely knocked him out but he somehow managed to get away and Hasaku's body was also dragged away where no one can find it. So people also thought she's just living in a perpetual state of fear that she isn't safe and he isn't out there. Either way, it sucks for her.
1:07:49 I think this is exactly the feeling the game is trying to instill. The fear of having a stalker permeates into every moment of your life, causing you to second-guess every interaction you have.
It only just hit me that the ex sends you a pic of Asuka and the stalker, but in doing so he just revealed that he knows who’s been stalking her, otherwise why would Asuka and a random man talking be weird to him? For all he knew she’s only talking to the guy because he came up to her in the street and harassed her or something, but the ex was the one right there ready to take a photo, ready to make Asuka look bad. In the end Asuka knew the stalker because she saw Nina’s photo earlier. I still feel kinda sus on her tho, since Chillas games tend to have the characters always experience the same outcomes no matter what the players do, so why in the boyfriend ending do we not find out Asuka was kidnapped? Maybe she felt guilty for conspiring with the boyfriend in the end and showed Nina the photo? God this game makes you question everyone lol
Keep in mind asuka had a bag on her head and was implied to have been drugged by the movements. I have a feeling she didn't realise she was kidnapped in the boyfriend ending
Word of advice to anyone who ever runs into a stalking situation: *document* *everything* ! I can’t stress this enough that the more evidence you have to show that this person is stalking you the better case you have. It can help you file restraining orders against the person, and bring up charges against them for trespassing. Also check if there’s personal security companies that are willing to help you. Hopefully this helps.
The problem is when you don't know or have seen that person, a competent stalker will know how to conceal themselves well. Which is why I have 3 types of weapons in close proximity to me when on my property, which is range, close, and definitely legal explosive tools (the bombs one is a JOKE).
Fun (not so fun) fact: the most stalked occupation isn't celebrity, it's actually news anchors! It's because the person watches them daily, gets both news and light chatter from them, so it becomes a weird attachment. And because it's the news, their real name as a reporter/anchor is easily findable vs a celeb who might have a fake/stage name, PLUS they're often much more local and accessible to run into compared to a proper celebrity. I do wonder if the rise of streaming challenges that top spot, though.
A couple decades ago in the early 90s, I was a housecleaner (chicago suburbs). One of our clients was one of the Chicagoland TV news weatherman. His home was absolutely gorgeous. He was always gone when we came to clean, so we had the key to his home to let ourselves in to do our job and leave. Housecleaning has a LOT of boundaries and trust between client and cleaner, obviously. Weatherman fully trusted us and we never did a single thing to make him or his life feel uncomfortable at all. We never snooped. We never stole a thing. We never did anything with the house key except let ourselves in on cleaning day twice a month. It only takes a second to destroy trust. I heard this saying long ago and it needs to apply to everyone: The most important thing a person has is their word. And once that trust is broken, once the person lets the other down, that's it. Reputation is tarnished or even destroyed. Forever. No matter what happens in the future, there will never be 100% trust in that person again. Always a doubt in the mind even if the one who broke whatever trust before NEVER does it again. They may be 100% loyal to their word for the rest of their life, but to all others, the suspicion will always be there. The most important thing humans have is their word.
I love horror like this. Extremely realistic. Most women have experienced being stalked and this is super sped up but shows the way it starts to snowball until you’re in actual life or death danger.
so true. i was cyber stalked by my ex girlfriend (i am also not a man) and she literally made dozens of accounts to harass me. both online and real world stalking are traumatising as all hell and terrifying. i had to move accounts multiple times and almost had to change my number
1:37 That "Yeah" response is such a mood oml. 11:12 "'Your face is nice,' Calm tf down chat. I'm a Vtuber you can't see my face you don't know what I look like." - Jack 5 seconds before disaster.
I love how Séan was so worried about the stalker finding out where he lives at as the girl in the game after the stalker literally shoved a note through her appartement door already. Also him saying 'mood fenu' at the café afterwards cracked me up so much I had to go back and hear it again xDD
I like how Jack called it from the beginning. He saw the blocked ex bf and called him the killer. He saw the open door with construction tarps and said they lived next to him. He didn't trust the cop immediately after meeting. He knew it from the beginning without even knowing lol
Yeah if police comes up to me saying 'Please be careful at night, you know it's not safe, especially for young women. Please come talk to me whenever you need help.' I'd be like 'wait why do you want me to go to YOU specifically? 🤨'
As the sister of a V-Tuber who had his face exposed during stream, I can tell you wholeheartedly it was something he was constantly afraid of, and when it happened, his chat spammed just like this. It ended his streaming career after creeps tried developing personal relationships. Facebook, Twitter, all socials had to be deleted because of it. It's not as easy as most people think.
I don't know how, but Chilla's games somehow capture the exact same fear and unease in me that my anxiety gives me, and due to PTSD, I struggle to trust anyone and over-read into things very often thinking it's 'suspicious' or something. I adore these games, but I am so glad I have Jack to make it sillier so I can actually handle them in the first place!
it's pretty meta how they've also included Chilla's Cafe into the storyline. for anyone who doesn't know, Chilla's Cafe is the setting to the game The Closing Shift about a female barista getting stalked. a lot of viewers commented how it felt like every person you meet in the cafe could have been the stalker, and even theorized that there are actually two stalkers within the game. i love how Chilla explored that idea and made another thrilling game.
The hooded scumbag that was absolutely covered by everything was indeed one of the 2 stalkers... and it's even worse that the barista you play as in that game is also there if you noticed💀 21:47 wouldn't it have been hilarious if she sneezed for some reasons?
The one thing I love about Chilla's games is their ability to catch the feeling of paranoia. Suddenly every guy is a danger. You don't know if he's the creep or not but you can't take the chance to find out. Just like with their coffee stalker game, every guy that came in was a suspect and put you on edge.
@@unal.05the mom was in on it though? So they actually go far enough to say that family *will* enable this behavior, even if it's another woman right?
i watched this before work today and thought about it during my entire shift... no other chilla's art playthru has gotten to me like this one and i *think* it's because this one really effectively utilizes the feeling you get of a true girl friend's devotion. like it should be kinda scary that asuka is right there, whenever you need her, at a moment's notice, right? because that's something a stalker would do. but no. asuka and nina's friendship is just that deep. it's such a fun twist and utilization of an experience two girls can have, where you're just so ride or die for your bestie... it's very very clever.
One thing I respect about Chilla's Art is they always put those subtle like the guy taking the trash you could miss that completely but when you see it it makes it all the more terrifying
i love how he's worried about the stalker but then leaves the door wide open when he leaves the apartment and doesn't even realize that the door was shut when he got back to the apartment.
luckily i believe i heard a long time ago that such a thing has been made impossible with modern vtubing software, though i cant remember where or when i heard that so take it with a block of salt
same throwback to nightshift when you play as the barista. nightshift is still the creepiest chilla's art game i've seen so far, just from how realistic it is. you are just trying to do your job and live, then one day you smile or are nice to someone just cause, and they stalk you. it's way too scary.
@dionemartins0212 I know you might not see this, but I just rewatched the closing shift to see if the barista was the same, and she is the main character of The Closing Shift! Funahashi Senpai (yes I checked for his name before writing this comment) is the man who takes your order. Also when Jack goes outside to see the man who was being suspicious in the corner of the store, you can see his face, which is the face of the stalker of the barista! Hope this answers your question!
You've gotta admire the writing here. Chilla art has a really good grasp on portraying social anxiety and the paranoia that comes along with it. It's a form of horror that hits really close to home but is surprisingly difficult to portray well.
Chilla is so good at creating the dread of being preyed upon as a woman. I get this feeling everytime I go home late at night, and have to check that no one is watching me while I unlock the front door.
I remember one time I was taking a walk and passed a guy on a motorbike, and then all of a sudden he started driving towards me, and it freaked me out so bad cause I thought he was following me
That minority is bad enough but like half the people who will flood in at the slight implication of feeling unsafe specifically as a woman to tell not allllll meeeeeeeen. Tiring. Yes all women.
22:30 what if from now on in Chilla's Art Games, James keeps appearing and he is this sort of omnipresent being who know's everything that's about to happen and let's things play out however they're meant to... like The Watcher☠️
12:22 Hi, VTuber here! YES. The webcam/phone doesn't show you, at all, it only tracks your face. But personally, I am ALWAYS still kind of terrified that it'll break and just project my face onto my stream. It's highly unlikely, infact I don't think it's ever happened before to anyone. But the thought is always there in the back of my mind, and I'm sure other VTuber's minds too! It's not really something we have to be actively wary of though.
Additionally: Depending on what software combination you use your Vtube-software is not handling the camera at all, it receives the tracking data from another program, so no "bleed over" possible.
Pretty sure it happened to a vtuber once. I don’t remember his name. I believe he had the doge as his avatar Up until I heard of that guy I hadn’t thought about the potential risk of your face being shown on accident. Glad if it doesn’t really happen anymore coz I can’t imagine how much that would suck
Loved it!! It feels like these days the word "parasocial" gets thrown around too easily. Whenever some famous person has drama going on that reveals they're actually a piece of shit there are the people making fun of those who are disappointed. It's immediately like "well, that's what you get, you shouldn't have a parasocial relationship with people." Like... My guy, I know this person is not my friend, but I can still be sad and disappointed that someone whose stuff I've watched for years and that I was entertained by turned out to be an asshole?
Yes. We get entertainment, and he gets money. It's just business, basically. Of course, people are gonna be disappointed when their favorite CC turns out to be a terrible person. Companies get shit for working with terrible people, too.
This is such a fantastic game for exactly the reasons Seán mentioned in his wrap-up thoughts: this is unfortunately all too realistic and things like this happen all the time. The way this game has you second guessing every person you interact with, the fear it invokes in you doing even simple everyday tasks, the violation of your home which is supposed to be a safe place-all of this is exactly what real stalking victims experience. Truly chilling.
Yes, but the contrivances of the plot kind of annoy me. You can’t order Uber eats but it gives you the option to (to shoehorn in the boyfriend). You can’t ban the obvious stalker in chat, you can’t stop streaming for a few days, you can’t call the police. You can’t confront the stalker with any sort of weapon. It makes Nina seem very reactive instead of proactive in what could/ almost definitely is a life or death situation. Why would Nina continue playing the game? Just because she was threatened to? That’s not how a normal streamer would react to these series of events. A normal steamer would put 2 and 2 together and assume the threatening message came from the viewer who gave them the game. Meaning that “ilovenina” (obvious stalker name) would get banned for either of 2 reasons. 1. Because the game is clearly a virus or malicious. 2. Because the chatter probably threatened her.
As someone who’s been stalked this really shows what it’s like. Not being able to trust anyone and even having the people closest to you blew you off and not take it as seriously. And when there finally caught and taken to jail the feeling of relief and the people close to you realizing oh crap it was serious. And yes my stalker was my ex just like the game.
I wasn't even hardcore stalked by my ex and it was terrifying. After we broke up because he cheated and was abusive, he started coming by my house at midnight hours to leave me presents at my door. He would call me constantly and when I blocked him, he had people watching my socials. I had to delete all my social accounts that had my real name and face. He kept at it for 3 years until I reported him to the police.
I have so many things to say as a woman living in Japan, but I can’t find the right words. I do know watching this after getting home from work at almost midnight has unnerved me more than any of the other games so far. I’m glad my building doesn’t have any sketchy hallways. :S Also, Aquarius > Pocari Sweat. Not sure why, but even though they’re similar I am team Aquarius! Edit: There have been stories like this in Japan where the police haven’t been proactive and things have happened to the woman, so that was really really on the nose… I appreciate how realistic Chilla’s Art is with bringing awareness and representation to this stuff. It’s really heavy and really scary, but it’s real stuff. I’m glad my walk home isn’t completely dark even more these days. Ugh.
Why are chilla’s art like lowkey feminist icons when it comes to really putting players into the perspective of being a women and the fear of just living that comes with it, like I really applaud them for constantly telling stories about women and the experiences that so many go through especially as two men themselves
Just commenting good vibes before the incels come in crying because you mentioned the forbidden word and say something like "men are stalked/harassed too".
Mad respect to Jacksepticeye for the speech at the end. I feel like I see way too many content creators say that everyone who watches their stuff is their “friend” or “family” or something like that. Like bruh no. Jack keeps his private life very much separate and I respect that heavily. Good on you, Jack, and keep up the awesome content!
I'm stumped when I hear streamers say their family watches their channel. What if someone in chat asks for advice on, uhm, tough love parents, and your parents call you like 'AUNT CARLA JUST CALLED ME SAYING YOU'RE SPOUTING OFF ABOUT US ON STREAM. WHAT DID WE EVER DO TO YOU?!'
I agree with his sentiment but I can't help but laugh at the irony of Jacksepticeye speaking out against parasocial relationships when he literally made a paid documentary that revolved solely around his personal life. It's very annoying when creators get on their moral high horse and act like they aren't also complicit.
@@breadeater123 That feels separate to me though. There’s a difference between a locked documentary and every video and stream acting like we’re all bffs. Thats where you get shit like the Ryan Heywood debacle and Miranda Sings

i was one of those fans in 2016 that had very parasocial relationships with the youtubers i watched. i would spend so much of my time reading everyones tweets and posts and watching every stream possible that i would be overwhelmed with interest and the need to keep up with everything every youtuber i watched did. 7 years later i think it was heavily affected by me being 15 and having the tendency to get so incredibly sucked into whatever interested me at the time (i have an adhd diagnosis now lmao). but yeah, it is definitely embarrassing afterwards, i think i fell to my knees crying when i met jack at pax east??? thats not normal, thank god my memory is so bad i cant remember it well lmaoo anyway im glad its behind me now and i am thankful that this is the kind of content i got so heavily invested in instead of some next level brainrot stuff. i am so very sorry for having been very painful to be around back then, and i am also so very thankful that i can come back here and still see the same familiar content, only better
My heart stopped when the stalker jumped inside the elevator. This is so much scarier than ghosts. Especially if you are a girl... this hits hard af...
I was once attacked by a literal stranger in a literal dark alley. Except it was the alley where my building was. So I ran inside and he followed and my stupid ass saw that the elevator was on the ground floor and hopped in. Of course, he followed me in there, too, and my next memory is of running across the street to a 24/7 arcade for help. I have NO idea how I got out of that elevator. Like, that was so terrifying that my brain blocked it out. But I fled it in seconds. I must have dodged under him somehow. Guys, if you’re being harassed, attacked or stalked - take the stairs. Vtuber here. I use OBS and it only uses the view of the software I use (Vtube Studio), not a direct camera feed. So there is no "ups, wrong button, this is the real me barely clothed and sweaty because it's warm af." moment. However, I know some people still worry. Bad dreams and unrealistic fears easily happen in people and depending on how your stuff works and on how much they know. We're all humans, anxiety happens. ♥
I think I’ve talked about this before, but as a trans guy/trans masc I experienced ALOT of creepy older men trying to hit on me, flirt with me or follow at the age of 13!! and so to this day I’m afraid (especially now that I’m a content creator) that people are going to find my location or follow me home or even k/i/l/l me, it’s a genuine fear I have. I think it’s nice that Chilla’s Art is able to so perfectly put this experiences into a playable game where people who haven’t gone through it can see what it’s like for the victims.
I just realized that the REAL strength of Chilla's Art games is just how they made their people. Is it incredibly high quality? No. Doesn't have to be either. Every character is just unsettling. And it's PERFECT. It makes you so hesitant to trust anyone in any of the games, regardless of their intentions or not. And, frankly, with the constant theme of anxiety showing up, it's such a perfect design for their games.
That's what I say to myself every time!! Their characters are so perfectly disturbing because of that weird quality that there is just no one you wanna trust. They move weirdly, their faces are unsettling, you never know what they are trying to emote and it makes the game ten time scarier!
That's definitely a big part of it. Sets you to being uneasy, just from the uncanny valley effect. You're also always alone or in quiet places, where it's easy for a creepy rando to run up with their creepy faces and scare you 😂
I'm not sure if Sean realised but the girl working behind the counter in the Chilla's Coffee part of the game (20:42) *is* actually the main character in The Closing Shift - the girl with the ponytail & fringe. You can tell it's her bc not only is the guy working behind the counter the same (the asshole Senpai in Closing Shift) but also because when she's being stalked in Closing Shift you can see her face in the picture one of the stalkers left her on the table - seeing her ponytail and fringe. Because it's the same location and Closing Shift is set during winter it's clear that this is spring or summer maybe half a year before the events of Closing Shift. It's cool details like that which make Chilla's Art games so refined! Edit: This might be speculation but also I think the man who takes the rubbish early on in the game is the boyfriend since they both have the same face, and in the coffee shop scene the hoodie stalker guy also is eating a matcha cake (28:03), possibly because it was what Nina asked for too. These could be re-used textures or character models though!
I think it's set after the game! The detective (Hasaku) is mentioned to be missing, and the two girls which are high school girls in Closing Shift are the ones you overhear talking in this game about being in college)
Yeah I def thought it was her ! But it’s after the game since the “friends” have graduated. But didn’t she die? Did she survive somehow? I need more answers 😭 ..so she’s alive but does that mean she’s still dealing with that stalker?
@@yb.2992so there’s multiple theory’s about this that are discussed in a later thread. Basically one theory is that MC of the closing shift (is that what it’s called?) has ptsd from being stalked, that when she killed the stalker and went home afterwards he wasn’t actually there but that she was scared and would forever live with that fear of “what if” (makes sense bc the brick would’ve killed him bc of how dense it is and how high it fell from so it could’ve just been her ptsd and anxiety from the events acting up but she was actually safe) another theory is that he didn’t kill her but he did sexually assault her and then the last theory talked ab was how there could’ve been 2 stalkers, the one that lived in the cafe and then the phone guy, and while she killed the cafe guy the phone guy was still alive and in her apartment and he’s the one who got to her. All are very good theories but I personally think it’s the first one (the ptsd one) I feel like it just makes so much more sense especially bc of how chillas games usually go and I feel like it would’ve been accurate to portray ptsd like that.
The circle would truly be complete if after ordering the coffee he had to wait 20 minutes to get his order while they tried to figure out how to put the sticker on the cup. I love these games and especially love how they are set in the same universe.
I absolutely love Chilla's art games, but they do solidify my fear as a woman of living alone *Edit* For some reason I have to clarify this, but I do not currently live alone. I only made this statement as someone who when I do move out, I am not living alone. I simply stated that I didn't want to live alone before and Chilla's art games make me just a little more certain I will be living with someone. I don't know why I even have to say this.
Same, luckily I atleast have neighbors looking out for me, a while ago things got sketchy with my other neighbour (because of a disorder and not taking meds, hes doing great now and usually a very nice guy) and all the other people in the street kept tabs on me and looked out for eachother, that was a scary week but actually feeling that people do look out for eachother was so nice
Chilla's Art never fails to make you feel like you cant even trust the monitor you are using to play the game. Definitely the most stressful games I have ever played 😂
Nikujaga is a soup dish that consists of potatoes, cubed meat, onions, and sometimes carrots. I think it's a soup, don't quote me on it. My mother (who is Japanese) made this dish quite often when my brothers and I were younger. It's really good! Also, nikujaga means "meat and potatoes."
What Sean mentioned about the whole “feeling uncomfortable and anxious around every single person you see, paranoid that they’re the stalker” thing is exactly how women feel on a daily basis for just existing
It's important not to generalize cuz it also causes problems. There're men that face such problems as well, or really it can happen to just about anyone.
Nikujyaga which Asuka mentioned(2:18)is a Japanese ordinary meal. Niku means meats, and jyaga means potatoes, so we cook Nikujyaga by stewing meats, potatoes and other ingredients.
To answer your question, vtubers do tend to fear that, in my experience, but you know OBS well enough to understand why it’s not a thing that could happen. The avatar is displayed by streaming a program that displays it, like adding an extra game display on OBS instead of a camera. The program that accesses the camera to animate the avatar doesn’t display a camera feed, so if somehow the program that displays the avatar fails, the stream just loses that display completely and the character vanishes, leaving just the game display running. So the fear of your camera being seen instead is more a paranoid one than a real danger.
it is still something in the back of your head that goes "but what if" t all times but yes there are plenty of protections in place so it's nothing that is truly something to worry about thankfully
It also depends on the method. Most apps won't even show a visual of the camera (if used) though for example for me, I use VTubeStudio's iPhone tracking, so the PC never sees any kind of camera input.
I had a stalker for 9 days on a cruise and he truly almost got to me, cornered me alone in an elevator very late at night. A random couple got on and the woman noticed me giving her a look, so she pretended to know me and I got off with them. No idea what would’ve happened if they hadn’t saved me.

God that's so much worse
God, that is so cool. Chilla's Art is fantastic at little details, they're one fantastic example of how any developer can make an engaging, immersive, and (in the case of horror) terrifying experience without relying strongly on graphics or groundbreaking mechanics
yea they even mention stigmatized property which is another one of their games
I love Jack screeching at every single npc and accusing them of being the stalker... and then being right
for the people who’s confused about the boyfriend pathway and what’s wrong, it’s basically that the boyfriend had paid or idk, basically exchanged so he puts Nina in that horrifying situation, and then he swoops in and “saves” her and so she feels indebted or changes perspective on him so she goes out with him again or she gets attached to him. basically, he got what the wanted.
He's a dang crazy obsessive ex-boyfriend..
Setting up everything just to get back with Nina and even getting his own mother in on it, like what the actual heck.. 😨
I would want to live in another dimension if there are actual real people in this world who would go on such extreme lenghts just to get something they want.. god it's terrifying..

Yeah I loved that, it’s something more people definitely need to realise. Although I do hugely sympathise. There’s a lot of people out there who literally just want a friend, a connection with someone. So having a person seemingly devoted to entertaining ‘you’ must feel so, alluring. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using them as a placebo, just to know there is a person out there who appreciates you (even if just as a fan/viewer)
But, that’s definitely where it should end. Any kind of co-dependent relationship is extremely unhealthy
is there any more to know about boundaries beyond making sure that people are comfortable around you, and vice versa (with open communication)?
As a human being, I give Jacky boys boundaries talk an A+
@@Wayrail boundaries is a HUGE topic so I suggest checking out some books about it! Boundaries by Townsend and Cloud is typically the one we refer clients to.
@@justaperson4656 ooh I hope that’s the case because I really wanna like her lol
If you have enough evidence and they have assaulted/harassed you it is also possible for them to get jail time (Depending on where you live)
The problem is when you don't know or have seen that person, a competent stalker will know how to conceal themselves well. Which is why I have 3 types of weapons in close proximity to me when on my property, which is range, close, and definitely legal explosive tools (the bombs one is a JOKE).
Thanks
Or grab a weapon and beat the creep. If he/she/they/whatever's rest attacks u.
basically, do the police's job for them, because you absolutely *cannot* trust them to actually do it
Fun (not so fun) fact: the most stalked occupation isn't celebrity, it's actually news anchors! I do wonder if the rise of streaming challenges that top spot, though.
this is rlly fascinating !!
jeez, i never thought of this!
Note to self: Never become a news anchor.
This sounds like a tutorial 😅
I heard this saying long ago and it needs to apply to everyone:
The most important thing a person has is their word.

Yeah if police comes up to me saying 'Please be careful at night, you know it's not safe, especially for young women.
Please come talk to me whenever you need help.'
I'd be like 'wait why do you want me to go to YOU specifically?
It's not as easy as most people think.
my god i feel sorry for your brother, hope hes doing well now ;(
I'm sorry to hear that, bat. Is that why most streamers don't use face cams on CZcams or twitch?
Yikes that sounds horrible. Hope your brother is doing fine these days, I cannot fathom having to go through that.
Hope he is doing okay
I am so sorry that happened! Worst nightmare for sure.
did anyone else catch that the stalkers games were the key to her escaping and calturing the real stalkers?
Yup
The hooded scumbag that was absolutely covered by everything was indeed one of the 2 stalkers... and it's even worse that the barista you play as in that game is also there if you noticed💀
21:47 wouldn't it have been hilarious if she sneezed for some reasons?
I loved that detail
Just don't live in this city lol
The one thing I love about Chilla's games is their ability to catch the feeling of paranoia. Suddenly every guy is a danger. You don't know if he's the creep or not but you can't take the chance to find out. Just like with their coffee stalker game, every guy that came in was a suspect and put you on edge.
Don't forget Asuka

i watched this before work today and thought about it during my entire shift... no other chilla's art playthru has gotten to me like this one and i *think* it's because this one really effectively utilizes the feeling you get of a true girl friend's devotion. like it should be kinda scary that asuka is right there, whenever you need her, at a moment's notice, right? because that's something a stalker would do. but no. asuka and nina's friendship is just that deep. it's such a fun twist and utilization of an experience two girls can have, where you're just so ride or die for your bestie... it's very very clever.
One thing I respect about Chilla's Art is they always put those subtle like the guy taking the trash you could miss that completely but when you see it it makes it all the more terrifying
Yes, I Agree.
Sean: knows he’s being stalked
Also sean: door wide open, tells strange men he lives alone
Also follows strange man with her (character) garbage alone....
I found it amusing how Jack kept calling the coffee game every other late-night-job-indie-horror-game except the one by Chilla xD
@1:05:55 I noticed those stuffed animals that were in the bedroom have been replaced with a knife.
Yikes forever
i love how he's worried about the stalker but then leaves the door wide open when he leaves the apartment and doesn't even realize that the door was shut when he got back to the apartment.
I noticed it! That was hilarious and terrifying 😂
The moment where the vtuber realized her model software had been shut off was terrifying. That seems like such a scary situation.
luckily i believe i heard a long time ago that such a thing has been made impossible with modern vtubing software, though i cant remember where or when i heard that so take it with a block of salt
This game did a real good job of making me question who's good, and who's bad.
Chilla's Art games are always a thrill to sit through.
Chilla's Arts is legitimately KILLIN' the game right now. They consistently make quality games. 💯
seeing customers from the closing shift feels like some crazy crossover episode of "chilla's art & women just trying to live their fucking lives"
same throwback to nightshift when you play as the barista. nightshift is still the creepiest chilla's art game i've seen so far, just from how realistic it is. you are just trying to do your job and live, then one day you smile or are nice to someone just cause, and they stalk you. it's way too scary.
I might be wrong, but isn't the barista in the background behind the counter with their back turns towards us the main character of The Closing Shift?
@dionemartins0212
I know you might not see this, but I just rewatched the closing shift to see if the barista was the same, and she is the main character of The Closing Shift!
Yup
they literally read/watched Perfect Blue and modernised it
21:30 omg jack doesnt realise the girl in the back is the main character from the Chilla's Cafe game!!!
Lol I said the same thing.
The streamer's house casually being over 100 degrees-
"ARE YOU A LIZARD?!"
Asuka: "What's the worst that could happen?"
Jack: "You have doomed me... to a life of death"
jack's always pumpin out banger quotes
Chilla is so good at creating the dread of being preyed upon as a woman. I get this feeling everytime I go home late at night, and have to check that no one is watching me while I unlock the front door.
I remember one time I was taking a walk and passed a guy on a motorbike, and then all of a sudden he started driving towards me, and it freaked me out so bad cause I thought he was following me
That minority is bad enough but like half the people who will flood in at the slight implication of feeling unsafe specifically as a woman to tell not allllll meeeeeeeen.
Tiring. Yes all women.
Funny part is, they're both men (the devs of chillas art that is)

I do that but I'm not a woman although I get your point...

This is the feedback I was looking for.
I've been dying to know this forever because it gives ME anxiety for y'all. so good to know it's very improbable
Additionally: Depending on what software combination you use your Vtube-software is not handling the camera at all, it receives the tracking data from another program, so no "bleed over" possible.
You have a very cute avatar! I just checked out your channel, you deserve more subs ♥
Pretty sure it happened to a vtuber once. I don’t remember his name. I believe he had the doge as his avatar
Up until I heard of that guy I hadn’t thought about the potential risk of your face being shown on accident.
It's immediately like "well, that's what you get, you shouldn't have a parasocial relationship with people."
Like...
@@Starlit_Onion What a reductive, narrow minded world view.
And yes my stalker was my ex just like the game.
that sounds horrible! i'm sorry you went through that.
❤️❤️❤️U made it!!! ❤️❤️❤️
At least he didn't try to kill you or your family.
So sorry. Must have been terrifying.
Homeless: I could really go for a hot cup of joe right now
Jack: Huh, maybe I could buy you one, *Steps on their head*
😅😅😅😅
I have so many things to say as a woman living in Japan, but I can’t find the right words. I do know watching this after getting home from work at almost midnight has unnerved me more than any of the other games so far. I’m glad my building doesn’t have any sketchy hallways. :S
Also, Aquarius > Pocari Sweat.
Ugh.
I love how some of the characters from "The Closing Shift" are back for cameos here. It just locks in that shared universe feel even more.
Why are chilla’s art like lowkey feminist icons when it comes to really putting players into the perspective of being a women and the fear of just living that comes with it, like I really applaud them for constantly telling stories about women and the experiences that so many go through especially as two men themselves

He’s very sincere for that and I completely respect it
I'm stumped when I hear streamers say their family watches their channel.

My heart stopped when the stalker jumped inside the elevator. This is so much scarier than ghosts. Especially if you are a girl... this hits hard af...
Alone in an elevator with a male stranger is a very specific fear of mine. Yick.

You're also always alone or in quiet places, where it's easy for a creepy rando to run up with their creepy faces and scare you 😂
Bloodborne
True
This shit hits so close to home. Stalking is seriously scary…
"He's probably around the corner, chewing on my toenails as we speak!" such a genuinely horrific but hilarious thing to say
The circle would truly be complete if after ordering the coffee he had to wait 20 minutes to get his order while they tried to figure out how to put the sticker on the cup. I love these games and especially love how they are set in the same universe.

I absolutely love Chilla's art games, but they do solidify my fear as a woman of living alone
*Edit* For some reason I have to clarify this, but I do not currently live alone. I only made this statement as someone who when I do move out, I am not living alone. I simply stated that I didn't want to live alone before and Chilla's art games make me just a little more certain I will be living with someone. I don't know why I even have to say this.

What Sean mentioned about the whole “feeling uncomfortable and anxious around every single person you see, paranoid that they’re the stalker” thing is exactly how women feel on a daily basis for just existing
i still get that fear even tho i heavily pass as a trans guy
So goddamn true.
as a man, I can agree with this from experience.
I really think some people need to get a better grip on reality
It's important not to generalize cuz it also causes problems. There're men that face such problems as well, or really it can happen to just about anyone.
I really like how this game makes you suspicious of every single person you meet- it really shows the paranoia that follows after you're harassed
I love the way chillas arts games build up so slowly. Really good horror experience everytime
