- Happy weekend my friends! Did you know "all" Norwegians eat taco on Fridays? We call it "fredagstaco" ("Friday's Taco") and it is delicious. So which tradition is better - the American Taco Tuesday or the Norwegian Taco Friday? Watch to find out! Love, Kristine
Want to make this yourself? This is what you'll need:
- Romaine lettuce
- English cucumber
- Red bell pepper
- Red onion
- Mango
- Corn
- Salsa / Pico de Gallo
- Large tortillas
- 400 g meat or plant "meat"
- Taco seasoning
- Sour cream
- (Norwegian) cheese, grated
- Guacamole (3-4 small to medium avocados, 1 clove of garlic, 1 red chili pepper without the seeds, cilantro (optional), juice of 1/2-1 lime, salt, pepper).
As Norwegian I can confirm some people in Norway has a sauce phobia and they put ketchup on everything, and I cringe everytime. However I have never seen it on a taco before. I thought the other sauces/salsas were more than enough, but I guess not 😂
A thing we do in our family is to add the cheese to a warm tortilla first before the warm meat, so the cheese gets a little extra time to melt while you're building your wrap.
Never not room for ketchup 😂
That sounds so good! Will definitely try that some time.
I'll try almost anything even the red onion as oppose to the milder white onion and even the cucumber but the ketchup, plant based meat, organic torts are a little much for this Mexican American who's married to a Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian woman who's learned to cook pretty good Mexican over the years. I will say that you can make a taco anything you want it to be even if it looks more like a wrap. Glad you embrace it.
As a mexican I´m intrigued by this combination of ingredients. I will try them.
You overcame your soap-tasting gene? Impressive. :) Cilantro and culantro are life!
Yes, all of a sudden I just liked/loved it -- so glad :) Never even heard of culantro, but now I need to find some and try. Thanks for the tip!
I'm Mexican and I could say that your tacos look good but I would still prefer traditional Mexican tacos marinated instead of the pre-mix seasoning. I will give the mango salsa a try. But I hope you try some habanero salsa if you prefer the really spicy.
Fair enough! I can imagine the traditional marinade is a lot better than the premixed seasoning I use. Really spicy is not my thing though, so no habanero for me haha
Se me antojo el taco Noruego, aunque no le pondría ese maíz, creo que en México a nadie le gusta ese maíz amarillo en la comida, pero el taco se ve muy rico.
literalmente hay puestos de esquites en todos lados...
I just found out about Taco Fredag.Funny you are technically correct calling it an American Taco, cuz Mexico is in America. Some Mexicans wouldn't consider US tacos as authentic tacos. But technically a taco is a tortilla that has anything on it. In Mexico when you go to a Tortilleria there are salt shakers at the counter that you can use. We literally make salt tacos. FYI your American tacos are cold, corn Tortillas are better when they are hot. Technically Quesadillas and burritos are all tacos
I think the Norwegian taco might be closer to a shawarma than it is a taco
You may be right about that! But I suppose the seasoning (and hence the taste) is probably quite different 🤗
would be better with Norvegia, those are fighting words.... :) ##!!!!######
I rest my case!
Norwegian taco is the best 🥳
Without doubt!
