NASA | Magnificent Eruption in Full HD

- čas přidán 4. 09. 2012
- On August 31, 2012 a long filament of solar material that had been hovering in the sun's atmosphere, the corona, erupted out into space at 4:36 p.m. EDT. The coronal mass ejection, or CME, traveled away from the sun at over 900 miles per second. This movie shows the ejection from a variety of viewpoints as captured by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), NASA's Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO), and the joint ESA/NASA Solar Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO).

It's so hard to wrap your head around just how massive that explosion was, and the sheer amount of energy that was released in that tiny amount of time. That was just awesome!
ويش تستنا البعوض
Who the hell would hit the would hit the dislike button on something this cool? Just think a hundred years ago people would have killed to see this footage.
+Amanda P. spoiled people my friend.
Flaviano Luna Seems noone appreciates or cares about astronomy. Astronomy shows where we all ultimately came from.
Yeah they don't appreciate many things my friend until everything is taken away from them, like freedom. You have the freedom to believe in whatever you wish to believe in and I think that's an unselfish and unconditional gift you will ever receive.
Flaviano Luna People are willfully ignorant these days and care about nothing.
+Amanda P. the people who disliked it are probably jealous geo-centrists
It's just extraordinary. How can someone dislike it.
This scares me and excites me at the same time.
Thanks Sun for sacrificing your valuable abundant resources to keep me warm
Apart from the sheer scale of that eruption this shows just how frail and vulnerable we are here on our tiny natural spaceship travelling through the Solar System.
The universe wants us dead.
One of those eruptions would make the strongest imaginable hurricane you could ever imagine on Earth look like nothing more than a gentle spring breeze.
It really puts our tiny planet and lives into perspective!
The magnificence of the sun and the whole solar system is really amazing and it will continue to amaze us.
I'm always awed by the amount of acceleration these things get from a starting point of the Sun's gravity.
escaping from 274m/s^2 in that tiny amount of time... ridiculous amount of energy
The Sun is so amazing.
+CosmicUltra Amozon-X360 It is, it's even more interesting when it orders itself.
Thank you.
Or is it?
STILL WATCHING THIS HEART WARMER KEEPING US EARTHLIHGS ALIVE !!!!!!!!!!! FROM U.K. (2021).
Wow, I never new that there was a gigantic billboard with the word "music" on the surface of the sun .
Ikr
Very beautiful and very scary at the same time. It gives us life and it can take it away!
There is a lot more inspiration in nature than in people...this is beautiful
A moment of silence and respect for Larry the cameraman who got skin cancer to bring us these amazing shots
Really, tell me the actual point
Frozy nina amma kunne bevarc
There is always that one person that takes the joke seriously EVERY TIME
Old glory randi ka bacha
Sounds like a made up story...
Beautiful: Sooo facinating. Mesmerizing!
Awesome footage! I love the combined footage of Soho Lasco 2&3. Thank you NASA!
sneezing sun. Well...bless you? Superb, absolutely superb.
Its Amazing Beautiful video. Many thanks to NASA. For this work.
THANK YOU! FANTASTIC MOST INCREDIBLE WORK! HIGHLY APPRECIATED! BLESSINGS!
epic! i love everything about space.
me too, I'm interested so much in it.
God create great life.
No one has ever been there. It's Fred Rodgers make believe.
Music: ♫ Earth to Mars ♫ - (Demos Off Kiehl) by Berry Perkins - 2009
They should mention it in Goddard Explanation, such a good but somehow wasted music
WOW!!
That was totally amazing! To think those CME's when the shoot out past the edge of the screen have probably already traveled a few thousand miles, but in a split second! VERY COOL! Thanks for the posting!
CHECK THAT......I mean a few Hundred Thousand Miles! DANG EH!!!
Were their REAL dinosaurs filmed for Jurassic Park? This is no different at all. At all!
@@NoSoup4U2Several million km (sun's diameter is 1.4 mio km) but split hour rather than split second. It's a time-laps video.
This video has been selected by the channel as one of the best Astronomy videos on YouYube and was added to the channel's playlist accordingly. Thanks for sharing.
Do you know whose music was playing on this video. Thanks!
"And I suppose... if it's my last chance to say it... Rose Tyler..." *sun explodes*
Wow! Beautiful sun!❤❤
Thank you NASA Family that is beautiful, peace and love, Doug:)
Our sun belching ;-)
Impressive video!
NASA além do futuro parabéns 🙏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
This is amazing.Loved it.
Me too..!!
it's simply amazing. thanks to NASA
Absolutely amazing!!!!

Balrog's whip =)
XaHyMaH
That CME makes Balrog's whip look like a the hair on the back of a caterpillar.
Okonngfhvu
Wow! The individuals behind this amaze my brain.
Who on Earth is downvoting amazing space stuff like this? Terrorists? Creationists? Anger trolls? Conspiracy theorists? Flat Earth society?
All of the above
All of the above.
ExoticVanguard Just more Space lol. What up with you??
I imagine a lot of them are salty edgelords who thumb down anything if they see a comment like "Who was the savage idiot who downvoted?!".. Also, I could troll farm it up and supply 500 downvotes all by myself in less than 30 minutes..
I love all the curiosity in the comments.
Really great video - thank you!
the sun always scares me.
that sun's fart can cause massive damage to electrical system on earth :/ wow just simply WOW!
I find the captions very helpful and informative.
Thanks for posting this ....
As of now, 682 flat earthers, moon landing deniers, conspiracy theorists and/or religious freaks have disliked this video.

+João Alcântara i dont believe in the moonlanding yet i LIKED this video.
+João Alcântara I have a faith, and i can't stop admiring that majestic star. I simply struggle with the cahos theory, i can't relate that such perfection was born just by accident. :) Just personal opinion, no offense. ;)
***** Any sufficiently advanced technology, or complex natural phenomena, will seem like magic to those that don't understand it. (arthur C. clarke quote variation) Besides nothing that exists is perfect..the concept of perfection is just a construct of language and doesn't really have a place in the natural world.
hey Joao...think for a second ok...answer me this. you dont know animation when you see it. this is not real footage my friend. you tell me how then they are providing HD quality video of something supposedly 93 millllllioooon miles away... please think...use your brain and stop accepting everything they show us. so can you explain how this was taken? def. not a satellite...why is that...well they are supposedly cruising about 27,000 miles an hour and dont think there is anywhere for an unmanned satellite to stop and set up a trip-pod and be fried probably millions of miles before it would even come anywhere near something they claim is so big and so hot. well maybe NASA has those really cool new telescopes that can view and film this clear, this steady, this "accurate" of something 93 miilllliiiooon miles away, in HD no less, then just simply hit that good ol upload to youtube icon in the view window of said telescope. I really also dont think NASA needs you defending their claims when you clearly are under their hypnosis. wake up man. and another thing...why are you taking it personal about what people think or beleive that is not what you do? why you gotta call people names and insult someone because they are simply questioning their environment and the information that were being given. sounds like you just except whatever NASA claims with no question? do you not see through the veil? just go about your business like before why should any of this bother you. or does making your negative unnecessary comment of separatism and condescension somehow cloak and protect you and your abundance of knowledge and somehow make the people you called out of lesser intelligence then you. no your comment was just you afraid to think for yourself, recycling, nothing of originality and anything to back anything up. Do you also spend your days trolling people that beleive in other things that dont agree with your infinite knowledge of the universe or religion trying to single them out by insults? I not assuming or dropping any name calling or insults. just trying to make you think about what type of energy you put out like this. its just no reason for it. you dont beleive what someone else believes? so what...no big deal. you single handedly disrespected millions of people for what? take care..enjoy your journey we are all different man and we all need to show each other some respect is all.
Proof of aliens visiting our system and stealing matter from our sun ;) Seriously tho why dislike this? Its stunning, thanks NASA for releasing this wonderful footage of our local star :)
Very good video and audio work!
prachtig en mooi
Ik kan uren er naar kijken.
Say, what's the name of that song playing in the video? Sounds funky fresh.
Triistar22 bass not funky enough
+Triistar22 Are we in the 70's, guy?
I liked it too! Funky fresh for me.
Haha, that's a good one!
وليش صاره العلام عند دجلين يوم كل يوم علامات الساعه جتكم
allahu akbar
900 miles per second... that's like 0.5% the speed of light!
Balrog's whip indeed.
This is fascinating...thanks...
سبحان الله وبحمده
سبحان الله العظيم
Clearly, there is a need for solar life-feed on youtube, and i think Google will make it someday.
What a tune..as well
Absolutely fantastic thanks NASA 👌
This is sex to me and other Astrophysicists...
Looks like me after a mexican meal.
That is a LOT of matter to be moving that astonishingly fast. I'm amazed to see that much mass ejected that far from the star in only a matter of hours. That looks like more mass that what our planet contains, and much much larger by volume.
Both terrifying and beautiful. Space is so metal. 🤘
dislike only because of disturbing music.
I'm here because of the Maze Runner books
Now that's what I call a Money-shot!
Stunning
It's a LIE.
Prove it
@@boyhowdy682 Sun is like a portal, and Sun's light is plasma.
Beautiful
this is quite humbling so clearly shows our ultimate destiny either lies in the universal interconnected ness of virtual ly everything or as I choose not to believe the futility of excestince
I would like to use a short clip from this animation for educational purposes and will give credit. Please, tell me if this is fine with you.
So AMAZING!
Incredible..
Such a beautiful star.
اللهم أحي قلوبنا بذكرك وارزقنا حسن الخاتمه

Seems I'm not the only one with a cold, get better sun :P
Great upload thank you.
Powerful magnetic loops snapping, super stuff
I always support NASA ASTRONAUT AND OBSERVATORY..thier exploration.,AWSOME.
Truly awesome!
Finally. A video called "Magnificent Eruption" that's SFW.
Great stuff
Thanks NASA
Man, Transformers Rescue Bots had a lot of actual drastic and real science stuff in it. It's so good
Fantastic
Man Credit to camera man and mercury for surviving this coronal mass ejection
these videos have really awesome music...
amazing look at that burst of solar flames
Amazing!!!
sencillamente fascinante que gran tecnology hay en la tierra
AMAZING!!!!
Es un video muy importante, por lo que nos muestra que esta pasando con el sol.
WOWW INCREDIBLE !! beautiful ! THANKS NASA
Amazing
Wow, magnifique!
thanks for this video great information
Beautiful animation.
Except it's not an animation.
that is deep man... such eloquence
That is so awesome.
excelente ,algo increíble muy bueno .
Love it!
Awesome!
It really gets my heart pumping when I see that band of plasma blast off the surface of the sun...
To imagine the earth is many times smaller than a flare, the image is obviously on fast forward. I guess it is more dramatic that way. I remember I Jan 1998 I could se the northern lights from montreal. We had a massive blackout because of an ice storm and a large solar flare.
amazing
Beautiful !!!!!!!
Awesome
