  • Eddie speaks on the macabre subject of graveyards in Ireland, and the rituals and piseogs that surround them. He explains the delicate process of burying a body, and what charms and objects may be placed in the grave, from a deck of cards to a fiddle bow. He also mentions the care required around one's behaviour in a graveyard, unless they wish to find that the next hole being dug is one intended for themselves.

Another excellent podcast Eddie! Growing up I was raised not to walk over a grave because it was disrespectful to the person buried in the ground. To this day I take the long way around when I'm tending the family plot.

I'm in Aotearoa NZ and my partner is buried where we're not allowed put anything there but a headstone,so we don't get in the way of the lawnmower, who just walks across the graves to do their job 😱

That was a good one Eddie, and had to be told with respect in mind. You did a great job as per usual. Entertained us, we listened, learned and hung on every word. Thank you very much.

Thank you Eddie for mentioning the Cilins. My brothers half twin was buried in
Oughdara old ruin of church near Ballinacken North clare. My brother was always upset over it
I discovered it some years after my other brother passed. Got it blessed by Father Connor & many other people who lost their babies showed up.

Enjoyed this, but it also upset me. A lot of my family's Graves have fallen in the last 15 years. St. Alphonsus in Daviess County Kentucky. There haven't been names on them since I was a little boy, 25 years ago. A couple years ago the perish decided that it would build a little monument to the fallen Graves... It wasn't a very large monument. They sure as hell built a large monument to the people who helped build the new steps to the church though, they spent half the money on the new steps for the step monument to the donors. A big contributor, a man with a real estate firm, has decided he's going to put his family right over top of her mine is, where the to be in the old part of the cemetery. He built his father's grave on top of others. The dowser said nobody was down there. You heard me right; dowser. Anyway photos say otherwise. The man's real estate firm is called Country House, is his father back in the '70s OR '80s historic monument building. Had been my ancestors house, the state was broke couldn't afford to upkeep his historic places and for some reason they decided not to prosecute even though he just did it on his own. And now that man is buried on top of my family.

An old priest stopped my pregnant grandmother at the gates of a graveyard when there was a funeral he said "Madam, I suggest you wait outside here with me, a person should only be carried in here once".

Fairies are as real as you and I. I'm a retired grandma here in Idaho. I ran into a couple of them around NY home and followed them from.light post to light post. I have had them burn me and even go into my stomach causing excruciating pain. It's not so bad now but they ARE REAL
