I have done this twice now, with different skies. Today's sky was a background of 'thunder snow'. I think my mountains are a bit ';poky; so next time I will make them larger. I haven't quite got the colour of my green trees in the background yet. It is challenging to get the right green to go with the sky. I think i want to have another go at this with little Alpine chalets . I think the more times you do it, the more you try to add other things as you grow some confidence.

This is lovely and very helpful. Thank you for a wonderful homage to Bob Ross, including his comment about a lonely tree needing a friend! I was watching him the other night and wondering about translating his work into watercolor. And thank you for your quiet and relaxed presentation style. I get nervous enough learning to do watercolor, so it's nice not having to deal with a hyped up presenter. (I am 71; learning nerves are part of that experience.)

Oh Ellen! This is gorgeous! I’ve so missed this! I haven’t painted since September 13 or watched any tutorials! My Moms dementia got so bad and she was constantly falling. We had to finally put her in long term care! Such a scary time to do that! Then she fell again and broke her hip. She had surgery but the hospital had a Covid outbreak and went into lockdown. She wasn’t allowed to leave and no one could visit! After 29 days she was released back to long term care. Painting has been medicine for me but through all this I couldn’t paint.....like I’d lost my heart! Watching this tutorial is awakening the desire to paint again!! Such a crazy year for the whole world! Stay safe. Stay well. Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi Lynda - I am sorry to hear about your Mom. Dementia during Covid times is devasting. My Mom went into memory care in March. Since then I have not had any in-person visits. It's so heartbreaking. I have not been able to pick up a brush in months. I am inspired by these videos to try a few cards for my Mom. Thank you Ellen for sharing. Thank you so very much Ellen. I used to live at high elevations here in Colorado, where snow scenes such as this was the "norm" in our daily life. Life ultimately moved me in a different direction however, leaving me with a sense of deep loss. You did an amazing job of breaking down into small pieces how a beginner such as myself can actually paint something so realistic and beautiful. I haven't seen your other snowy paintings yet, but I will most definitely be checking them out, coming from a place of appreciation. Can't wait until I can give this a go. Believe it will be the perfect Christmas card for other family members who also lived and worked in the higher Rocky Mountains and have sorely missed them since moving to the Mid-western part of the country. You're a fabulous teacher and I'm so grateful to have found you!!!

You could add a Yeti, and large footprints, that would be fun and crazy, which leads me of course to say, can you paint us a yeti one day lol

Dear Ellen, I'm a little confused....the light hits the mountains from the left, so shadows in the right. But in the foregrownd, the light seems to come from the right, so the shadows go to the left? Otherwise, I'm very excited about your tutorials and have given water color a try again, since I have found your canel. Thanks so much, you make it look easier, than I thought it was 😉

Surprise! You have done a wonderful painting of winter snow.
In 2012, I saw that in India. The weather in our country is not like that. But I want to draw too. best wishes to you Ellen!
