- This was broadcast on MTV2 UK as part of "Weezer Night" in November 2001, though it was obviously recorded (and possibly first broadcast?) earlier in the year, due to still featuring Mikey. If anyone knows when or where it was actually filmed, please comment!
Plus, a bit of MTV2 continuity/idents either side, because that's always fun to see.

This was recorded at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC. Weezer was supposed to perform as the special guest for a radio station festival but for some reason would not go on stage, so the station set them up in a conference room and simulcast their performance on the Jumbotron for the audience in the stadium.
Interesting story there... you know all of that to be true?
maybe they refused to go on stage because they were told they couldn't say 'hash'
Weezerpedia notes that it was intentionally secluded and fans received Weezer related gifts and a VIP signature experience of sorts.

Rivers doesn’t even use or play those warmoth stratocasters (the black and the blonde, although he still play the sonic blue, seaform stratocasters and his white gibson sg which that was the only guitar that he played with weezer when me and my dad saw them perform live in 10/18/2019) anymore
By the way, can’t wait for weezer’s new album “van weezer” when it comes out!

@@grungepants It is, the black warmoth is for songs in Eb tuning, while the blonde one must've been for songs in standard (the ones from the Green Album)

This is probably just a coincidence but kinda weird thought. Mikey had a mental breakdown at 30 years old in August 2001 just a month before 9/11 attacks and nearly committed suicide but was put in a psychiatric hospital. Then 10 years later just under a month from October he had a dream about his own death in September 2011 and was found dead October 2011 from drug OD at the age of 40.
