It helps, when you load film, to gently crank the rewind to feel the resistance... to know the film caught. I live in Nashville 73 years now, I've been doing a B&W project around for a little while.

Do you feel foam pan 200 real iOS200?some guy say it’s 100,Besides did you push this film?contrast is really perfect.
From what I have gathered, Fomapan's true ISO is about half of the listed ISO. 100 is 50, 200 is 100, 400 is 200. It depends on the developer you or you're lab is using as well. In this video I did not push the film.

@@zhongyao-sc1lj I got these developed at The Darkroom as I don't develop myself, and apparently they don't list what chemicals they use on their website which is unfortunate. I would guess it's probably XTOL, but I'm not certain.
I hope you don't mind me making another point in the comments! You commented that it was annoying that there was a boring modern car in the way of the beautiful house you wanted to shoot. I recently had something of a lightbulb moment after also being grumpy about annoying modern things or crowds being in the way of what I wanted to shoot. Then I realised I was being an idiot. One reason I shoot film is because I want a tangible permanent record of the scene, not some ephemeral thing that I'll share to followers, or a file that I'll have to keep in "the cloud" for decades. I like to compose layers so I deliberately work out the most interesting way to include the annoying modern thing or the crowd as an actual layer in the composition. The 'annoying modern thing' layer *will* eventually become of historical interest ... especially when you are in your 80s and looking through your old negatives. (Make sure you give them a damn good wash and get all the chemicals out of them, of course!)

Haha, I knew someone would notice. It was the strap from an old camera of mine and I didn't have another option for a while, so had to roll with it. Don't worry, I'm rolling out my Leica that just came back from a CLA!
@@BrocktonAnderson leica is an exceedingly fine camera, just keep the channel for photography and photographs, though. We have enough people on Y.T with Leicas, doing nothing but brag about their cameras. Leica is about photography and nothing else, remember that.
I'm definitely not one of those Leica owners. I had a Bessa for years before getting my M6, and if it weren't for 1 or 2 things that made the shooting experience just a little better, I would have held on to my R3A forever.
I wanted to make a comparison video on the two, but I hadn't committed to starting the channel by the time I sold the Bessa, but maybe it's still worth talking about in a future video.
Would you ever switch to digital?
I've flirted with the idea, and it may be nice for a little convenience in the future, but for my personal work I probably plan on sticking with film. Stick around for the next video though, I'll actually be comparing digital and film on another photo walk I did with a friend!
Nice video sir though I am still unsure as to why every video about film, puts more emphasis and mention on the 'camera and film type used 'and not the' lens and film type used'.
It's partially a branding and convenience thing. If someone is looking for film videos on CZcams, they are usually looking for a camera system/brand that may encompass many different kinds of "x"-mount lenses and invites people in for further investigation. The name of a lens means very little to a broad audience, while a camera system is more all encompassing and pleasing to a video title. I used to think the same way about camera bodies in that they are functionally black boxes, but I've come to believe that bodies are more important than we give them credit for.
The reason people have been coming back to film is not just for the negatives, but also the experience and how a camera inspires them. The lens is the technical aspect responsible for a majority of the actual outcome, but your camera body is a form of self-expression and can put you in a space where you feel a particular way. I think film is all about capturing that energy. While digital can feel more documentative, film feels more like an imperfect memory that captures a feeling or an essence. Choosing a film body can be like choosing between cars. They may be almost identical under the hood, and they accomplish the same task, but something about one makes you feel a certain way over another. The look, the slight operational differences, the history. It's something that can't always be measured, but matters all the same.
And maybe this is a new-school way of thinking that legacy film photographers don't identify with, but it's a movement within photography that I personally see in myself and others that choose film over digital in the modern era. It's a rejection of technical perfectionism, embracing the lens as just another complementary piece of the triangle. Cheers!

@@BrocktonAnderson Good discussion. For me, it's mostly all about the lens, but the body is important too.
I recently went on a huge once in a lifetime trip and before I went I thought long and hard about the photography aspect. I looked at DSLRs but I felt that I would be spending a lot of money on a sensor that could be obsolete within a few years. I decided to return to film photography and get hold of the best 50mm prime lens I could buy ... I got a Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar MC 50mm F1.8 lens which I paired with a very basic Praktica MTL-5B back, to replace the one I stupidly threw out years ago. I used T-Max 400 for this very important trip because I didn't want to take any chances with the photography on the trip.
During the trip I managed to pick up a superbly refurbished FED-2 from the Soviet era with a lens in great condition. I find the FED-2 less cumbersome to use than the Praktica, so I have started using it for more casual photography. I was limited in what new film I could by during the trip, and randomly acquired some Fomapan 200 in a small kiosk, so I decided to try it out in the FED-2.
For serious documentary-style photography I will still use my Praktica because of its excellent lens, but I will use the FED for less important stuff.
The combined cost of these two refurbished cameras with lenses, along with re-equipping myself with darkroom kit, has come in at around one-quarter of what I would have spent on a DSLR kit ... which like I said would probably turn out to be obsolete in a few years.
Foma 200 in 35mm is great. In middle format is not so good.
