The earlier comment about tavern-style pizza is dead on. Even those of us who love it eat deep dish no more than once a year.
I don’t eat meat, but I’ve heard from those in the know that Lem’s is the best BBQ in the city.
And I’m sure you heard about Central Camera and how it was gutted in a fire during the 2020 unrest. It’s slowly but surely getting back on its feet, but the damage was substantial, as was the loss to its inventory. That place was a real gem-maybe the best retail shop of any kind in Chicago-and everyone is rooting for its comeback.
Yeah, I for sure know about central camera. Big news in the same world. I guess I really have to try that Tavern style now. Can’t wait to go back for more barbecue.

Awesome video, glad you enjoyed your time in Chicago! Btw, it makes complete sense why you guys stayed in the Loop area for the event and to see downtown - but next time I'd definitely recommend staying in the neighborhoods instead! Way better food and a lot of fun culture and old historic housing. Plus, still easy to get downtown on the trains. Cheers!

At 8:35 would the camera in the sandwich happen to be a Sony Cybershot DSC-P200? It looks awfully familiar to my childhood camera, which I still have and use to this day. Awesome video and by the way, your energy is infectious and motivates me to go photograph when I’m feeling lazy otherwise.

I'm from Chicagoland and would like to know what made you take a picture of that alley 14:26? I have a picture of that same alley! To my knowledge nothing famous or infamous happened in it it just caught my eye! Oh and now that you've tried deep dish pizza, just get Lasagna next time! I don't care for it myself. Redscale is like shooting through a lava-lamp. I think one need to choose your subject carefully in order for it to really come into its own. Seems like you had a great time. I would love to do a B&C one day. Maybe they should organise one in Cape Town, so I can make it :) BTW - your double exposures are fire!

3:00 --> mostly true, yet the 28mm 2.8 ai-s had CRC implemented, which lowered the closest focusing distance to 0.2m, and a different coating was applied to minimize flaring. Some (!) Nikon lenses had small updates like this, it's worth checking out if these matter to you or not.

This is correct. I think the only other lens that changed optical design from AI to AI-S was the 180mm f2.8 and it got ED glass as well.

hey dude, was looking to but the f3 but the fa being cheaper kinda makes me want to buy it. the one thing holding me back is people saying they are more prone to fail. did you have any issues?
I don’t know if they’re prone to issues. Mine seems to be working completely fine. They are electronic cameras other than 1/250 of a second… so there’s that. I’d say if it’s cheaper and it’s the one that you can afford and the seller is telling you that it works go with that
I have been using a very heavily used and brassed FA regularly for nearly 15 years, and I have never had any trouble with it. I've found that its 1983 matrix metering technology is always spot on, and I prefer the handling to my FE2. It's my favorite manual focus 35mm SLR by far.

@@BadFlashes oh ok. I have about a dozen nikkor lenses, and never sure without looking it up which are AI-S and which are not because I dont care. Old Nikon cameras dont care much and adapting them to mirrorless really dont care. Only F mount AF shooters really need a AI-S

Can’t recommend FA in 2023. They are turning into useless bricks now. Almost impossible to repair. Avoid. Spring for an FM or FM2 instead and be happy. FM3A if you’re a hipster.
