I'm not Arab, but one day I passed by a mosque and I heard a Syrian man singing a religious hymn in Arabic and it was the most majestic sound I ever heard live. I stayed till the end of it and was truly mesmerized (later found out where he was from and the langauge).

I will tell you why, in Arabic and in the Arab world everything has a meaning like people's names ...etc, you heard those long vocals with the runs and melismas and so on, those are cries of pain, it is like saying "ouch" in English, now the evolution of the Arabic song made it where you kind of tell a story reciting those cries of pain, and that what shows who is a better singer. So you got emotional because they deliver very good stories with those cries of pains, BTW very little to no Arabic is in this clip hence cries of pain, and so it got to you, you got it because they where not speaking/singing Arabic they where just crying.

The thing about is that at the Time of their hayday the sound system were so primitive that we sadly don't get to enjoy their legendary voices, but still, they sound so legendary in that retro sound system. I'm learning how to sing. Keep in mind I have no practice whatsoever and what my natural singing voice is but for some reason whenever I sing, I usual have a hint of arabic style and this is when I'm trying to sing regular American music.....I don't even how that happens but I'm multicultural and bilingual. My native language is 30% arabic but I grew up the states so my accent is barely noticeable..... I think my natural singing voice and style is distinct but idk how others might view it. I don't do it intentionally to be different. It just comes and idky....any suggestions?
