I just read the comments and it is so disrespectful to Bulgaria.Nobody talks how brilliant the winner was BUT how Silver medalist were robbed from the gold. Appreciate the opponents work Russians and show how you can loose with dignity. Bulgaria has lost with dignity for many many years and these discussions for fraud, misjudgment etc is ruining the what to be called "the happiest moment" in Bulgarian Rhythm Gymnastic. Are people so ignorant to not appreciate HOW INSANELY difficult Bulgarian routine was? Difficulty gives you more scores. Since when we do not appreciate other team's hard work and show respect and sportsmanship? Bulgarian team since its 1st appearance in 2017 has shown only world class performances. I think the reason it's so painful for Russians is because in their mind they are judging Dina against Linoy over years of different performances including olimpic qualifiers. Over those years Dina did better overall , but Linoy got better meanwhile. Dina got hurt. Her Olympic routine had to be adjusted, it got less difficult. She is amazing performer and I bet her coaches thought as longer as she doesn't make mistakes and do simpler version of her routine she will still be able to get gold. Except Linoy increased her difficulty, and probably had the best performance of her career. For a lot of people it was unfair win because they believe that Dina is a better gymnast, except that is not what was being judge. What was being judge was 4 performances that they did that day. This is not Oscars and they are not receiving medals for last 4 years of their achievements. I grew up in USSR and can understand attachment and loyalty people there feel towards their champions and I get pain they felt seeing her in tears. There is a great saying
" You never loose, you either win or you learn someone" . And I bet no matter what is being spoken publicly, lessons were learned.

It’s physically impossible to accurately judge this sport within a reasonable amount of time now. There’s simply no way even the most talented international judges can keep track in live time. Changes must be made. They tried to copy artistic gymnastics’ open-ended scoring, but seemed to have forgotten that there’s a cap on how many elements are allowed to count in artistic gymnastics. There must be similar caps in rhythmic gymnastics, which would force gymnasts to do harder elements rather than just more elements.

Sorry, but qualifying the Bulgarian team's win as "a tragedy" in this video is too much! The author did not mention a single word about the quality of the Bulgarians' performance! It is a complete lack of Olympic spirit and sportsmanship not to acknowledge the talents and the performance of your opponent! Bulgarian gymnasts' choreographies were more complicated and dynamic. I have always been a fan of Russian RG performances, but this time they were more boring and simple. THIS TIME...And this time our girls did better. No place for grieving, just for acceptance and learning!

    • @robertwill23
      @robertwill23 Před 2 lety +2

well, speed and dynamic of Russian gymnasts was better than Bulgarians. They didnt slow down music that Moiseev's ballet group slows down when they perform to it. And Moiseev's ballet groups is the best in terms of synchronized dance routines. And saying their routine (with changing colors of their leotards?) was boring is just very subjective assessment. If you noticed judges start to ignore artistic value and wholeness of performance in gymnastics and put all focus on difficulty. So boring or not doesnt matter anymore. And it's easier to say what you are saying after end result. Everyone adjusts narrative to result - it's how our brain works. Also notorious difficulty (body difficulty) is also judged by naked eye. You have points on difficulty if you throw ball higher than usual (higher than two heights of gymnast that performs). But how can you decide that? By naked eye. Do you think judges run with rulers while gymnasts perform? No. It's all very subjective. Whole system of assessment must be reformed. They claim artistic value is subjective and hard to assess so they ignore it now but their claimed difficulty is also very subjective and hard to assess. I have no doubt that Russian gymnasts were harshly judged and underscored. Nobody likes serial winners, everyone wants them to lose. Imagine fume by Americans if their gymnasts (like Biles whose scores in Tokyo was slightly criticized by english and american commentators - they thought she was a bit harshly judged - after her failed vault in team competition) will get underscored with nearly perfect routines.

Everyone saw it but there is something that only professionals and so-called judges can see. The problem is not that an athlete cannot accept defeat. This is just unfair refereeing and people who really understand gymnastics see that the marks were initially set too low. Dina looked better in everything and performed exactly the same as in the qualification where she got the first place. It is difficult to accept not defeat, but incorrect assessment of a perfectly executed performance. Obviously, Linoy was overrated because she is suitable for the role of one who can compete with Russian gymnasts.it's funny to see such comments from people who still don't understand that sport has long been a part of politics. this is not the first time that Russian athletes have been judged unfairly, and such a reaction of people to low marks for the excellent performance of a Russian gymnast is quite obvious

The fact that you are used to winning the gold medals does not mean that there aren’t other nations out there which can outperform you!!! Competition should have positive effect on you!!! The Russian gymnasts and ice skaters are raised with the mentality that second place are losers, that if they don't win they're worthless. If they win a silver, most Russian gymnasts (who are mostly in the age of 16-20, so quite young) are inconsolable, not because they blame the winner, but in their eyes they've failed their country or lost everything they had worked for all their lives. The Russian coaches and heads of the federation are known to be ruthless. The girls fear for their career after coming in second. The bronze medalists feel much happier than the silver medalists.

Nothing went wrong. Bulgaria was amazing, outstanding! Natural outcome from their 5 years evolution. Bulgarians are fire, choreography and artistry! Linoy won with higher difficulty. The drama was that Russians were so accustomed to win that they couldn't believe someone else is better. In addition, in Russia there has been a bit of brain wash that they are the best and no one else is, they are the most beautiful, artistic...because they have Bolshoi and great traditions. Yes, there are traditions, but the other teams are also amazing and Russians were not seeing that and not recognizing it at all for years! So, now, surprise! And finally, it is not healthy for a sport when one single nation always wins. This is the only sport where this was the case, so now we are back to normal. Congratulations to all winners! Lena, you cannot present this video as a tragedy! I am sorry. Bulgaria's victory was the most beautiful thing in this Olympics! This is a glory moment! You just adjusting narrative to end result. It's easier to make conclusions after end result that was decided in strange manner to say the least. Back injuries et cet is irrelevant because Dina still came to Olympics as number one in RG and won previous championships (in 2021 as well). It's easier to claim competition got better when you have end results. But we must look into assessment itself in order to understand what's going on.
Russian gymnasts in team competition were faster and on point in their synchornized movements (which is already high difficulty) - they didnt even slow down music which famous Moiseev's ballet group slows down when perform and Moiseev's ballet group is the best in the world in terms of synchronized dance routines. In that regard they edged Bulgarians. But it's easy to say they fell short after hearing end scores.
Dina and Arina, both, were harshly underscored for nearly perfect routines. Pressure or not, they are used to performing under pressure and Dina performed without any major mistakes. It was harder for Arina who was feeling that judges giving her much lower points for her nearly perfect routines so she became more anxious and screwed up ribbon routine. Athletes can feel when they do well or at their best but scores they are given dont reflect that. And it can throw them off psychologically. I doubt Arina was so cocky and delusional to think she would be given easy pass. She comes from most competitive environment which is Russian domestic championships. They have next Arina and Dina in every city.
Supposed higher difficulty of Linoy is weak argument because that difficulty is assessed by naked eye as well. How can judges decide if Linoy threw ball higher than Dina (throwing ball higher than two heights of a gymnast is considered higher difficulty)? They dont run with rulers while gymnasts perform. How can they decide difficult body angle? By naked eye as well. So there is a case for Russian gymnasts been harshly judged in order to even competition sooner than it might've been. Nobody likes serial winners, all want them to lose. And Federation of RG know it's bad for their sport if Russians keep dominate 30 years in a row. It isnt a conspiracy. It's just many might have such feeling of getting tired of Russians and judged Russians more harshly and with more zest which can lead to foggy judgement.

it's easy to adjust narrative to result. easy to say what you are saying after end result that was quite strange to say the least. situation with Averin sisters showcases that reform in RG assessment is needed. Arina and Dina were definitely underscored for their nearly perfect routines in the final. The supposed difficulty claim is quite weak argument because difficulty is also hard to assess no matter how judges try to convince us otherwise. They assess difficulty by naked eye, hello. How can they decide if Linoy throw ball higher than others? if it is higher than two heights of a gymnast, says in protocol. But how they judge that? By naked eye. Nobody runs with rulers to assess body angles either. So there is definite case for harsh judgement of russian gymnasts in order to even competition. Because 30 years of one nation winning gold is bad for RG, thinks Federation. But lowering standards and making foggy judgement is not the way to bring more competition.

Lena, I appreciate your objective opinion on both the individual competition and the group routine. I am a fan of Dina Averina but I think Ashram did great was the energy and the enthusiasm with which she performed. I think Dina made a comment that she was expecting lower scores from the judges. I remember when in 1984 in Viena at the European championship Anelia Ralenkova from Bulgaria had her score lowered for the ribbon performance because the arbitrator judge (who was Russian) did not like her performance and then the score of Galina Beloglazova was increased twice, because the same judge-arbitrator really liked her performance. The point was to make Beloglazova's score high enough to catch up with Ralenkova so that there were 2 European champions. Judges should be fair-most of them are former gymnast and they know very well how hard all the girls work, how many sacrifices they make. I think they all deserve fair scores, no matter what county they are from. Scores should be consistent. Dropping of an apparatus should cost the same number of points consistently so the rules have to be clear.

A mi juicio Dina ganó.

However in group I kinda saw it coming that they weren’t gonna win 1 st place. There were lots of things that contributed to that loss. It makes me so happy to see other countries that are not Russia winning, it's very refreshing and makes me feel hopeful about the future of RG. Honestly, the Russian group routines felt boring and messy to me, whilst other routines like Italy 3+2 made me cry

Linoy has no grace. Her rutine have more difficulty but her mistake was big. For me Averina was much better.

I’m an ultimate fan of Russian gymnasts, so naturally I was deeply saddeneb by the results, nonetheless, I understand the CoP and why you might think the results turned out the way they did, however, I was appalled after seeing the amount of inquiries submitted not only by ROC but by many many other gymnasts and groups. I think this is something that should be taken into account as the judging was definitely not on point, many countries were not pleased, not only ROC.

I think they used to judges on they home court like grand prix giving them a sky high scores almost 30.00 marks, but tokyo olympics is diff, its the biggest and international stage, i saw how tense they are on the carpet too. Just my opinion, mybe right maybe wrong.

Yes, a lot of inquiries, but for the wrong reasons! because gymnasts and federations are so used to astronomicaly unfair and crazy high scores that when they were judge fairly, the could not believe it!
The problem imo is the discordance between competition judging and Olympic judging, the FIG need to do something about it for sure

Her drop with two steps to retrieve was worth 0.7 points, for which she was penalized by 0.7-0.8 points in her Technical Execution (ET of -1.3 instead of usual 0.55-0.65), her diffulty was only worth a meager 0.2 points (AD of 9.6 instead of 9.8) and I assume she was deduced by another 0.2 points in her artistic score (EA of -0.4 instead of usual -0.2).
The lower scores of Dina are mainly due to lower BD values and a cumulation of reappearing problems like her releasing the balances before the min. 1 sec. or rotating after catching the apparatus instead of rotating while catching.
Linoy on the other showed a lovely pirouette even on a notably high relevé and significantly less balances which spared her from the 1-second-rule and its penalty.

@@opal746 you can add 100 points and then deduct 70 and say then “look, we deducted even 70 points for her mistake”. Therefore it doesn’t make a sense how much you deducted. The more sense makes what is difference with performance between qualification and final. Why without obvious mistakes she got 23500 in qual. and 23300 in final with serious mistake? What was was specific in her performance in final in compare with qual. And I can say nothing. You can compare 2 videos (qual&final) frame by frame, sec by sec and will see nothing outstanding was in her final performance

@@johnalamariz2491 she got 19000 for that. Let’s give 19000 to linoy in Tokyo for the same mistakes and will see who will get gold in Tokyo.

@@rustamnasredinov843 A schooled eye does see the difference, e.g. her pivot on a notably high relevé. Also, the rise and fall in scores from qual to final is highly typical in RG. Quals are rarely an accurate portrayal of the coming final results. Best regards.

My heart with Dina, they were put in a corner from the beginning and of course she may not be so immerse in music as she normally is, how could her? She felt attacked round by round. I'm not Russian, I dont care about politics or any shit like that but people please stop defending the indefensible. They took the gold from that girl and that will remain forever. This Olympics showed how political matters are above anything, they used this gorgeous woman trying to ashame Russia but first they killed her talent, pride, work and passion. ATHLETES ARE HUMANS NOT COUNTRIES.
