Back in the day in Texas when you were on unemployment you had to keep a log of interviews and job seeking attempts. An interviewer had to sign this log. I can remember so many people coming in to interview for a job and do everything in their power to not get the job because their unemployment paid more plus they didn't have to actually work. I even had offers of bribes for my signature on these logs. Good times.
in NJ you can collect unemployment while still working a minimum of hours, something low, but I remember a guy working at Macy’s who told our manager that was the exact reason why he couldn’t commit to more hours. I couldn’t believe the system allowed that.
Damn. When was this? Unemployment in NY barely covers my studio apartment rent. I doubt unemployment in any state today pays more than anyone’s real income. I’m pretty sure it’s a fraction.
