6mm ARC is a great round. Have a 18” gas gun an a 22” bolt. Thing about the 6mm ARC is that there are 2 different sets of load data. Bolt or Gas, can load bolt way hotter than gas. Just gotta be careful not to mix those up.
I worked in a gun store in 1980-81, and at the time, the .243 Win and 6mm Rem were common deer cartridges in Texas. The most common bullet weight was 80 grains, in rifles with 1:12 twist barrels. But the long range game has changed things, so the 90 grain bullet is considered light in a 6mm cartridge.
@@tjh44961 Man, I hear you there. The other day while just browsing on GunBroker I actually saw a Ruger Mark II Model 77 “Hawkeye”, & I couldn’t believe what it was! It was chambered in 6mm Remington! OH!, Gun Gods!!!! Of course I didn’t have the cash on hand at the time! Just picked up a gorgeous 6.5x55mm Swede & it’s possibly the best looking & newest Gustaf Mauser’s I’ve ever seen. 6mm arc is very similar to 6mm ppc that is one of the most accurate cartridges ever. I bought one over a year ago love it. It really shines in a bolt gun and reloaded. There is two different pressures for bolt gun and gas gun. Hopefully it takes off in a bolt gun u can match .243 win ballistics and velocity in that tiny package. My gun is carbon stock carbon barrel weighs in at 4lb 11oz. Feels like a red rider BB gun so light. But is capable to over 1000yards. If u watch the rock chuck Olympics the only hits on target over 1000 was 6mm arc I believe going off memory.
This is an amazing, but until recently, underserved cartridge. I’ve taken deer with it, as did my son on his first hunt. It’s versatile, accurate, soft shooting and extremely long range capable! It looks like this rest of the industry is finally catching on. Alpha and Starline are finally making brass, and there are no shortage of amazing bullets for the 6mm. Happy ARC’ing! 😂
Ive ordered ammo online since covid, at mostly pre-covid prices, usually in enough quantities to get free shipping. One must have the patience and persistence. Very similar, but 6 arc is just kinda better in every way. 6.5 grendel is too big of a bullet to fit the highest BC bullets in the mag, 6 arc and 22 arc don't have that problem, so they have a BC advantage. They're both faster too, grendel is a bit too slow for good terminal effect.
6 mm arc can be made from 6.5 Grendel brass. You just size the neck down and fire form the brass. When I got my 22 arc I made my brass from 6.5 Grendel brass. Nice looking piece of hardware.
Got lots of data on light bullets for coyotes and prairie dogs. And some loads for deer. Lots of chrono data, grouping etc.. I want to build another one! Love the 6ARC..
That cartridge looks fricking AWESOME!! It’s, should I say, almost…. cute! But it looks damned sleek and sexy too. It looks fast! And WHO_TEE_WHO ….. I would say yes, you should load for it. As you said, not many are making ammo for this, but there ARE a lot of 6mm projectiles out there, and from all reports I’ve read… a person can really get some hot rod and very precise stuff out of this when you load for it. Anyway….. keep it up man!!! You’re filling the reloading and group testing gap that ol’ Johnny from Johnny’s Reloading Bench left behind.
You will really like the 6ARC. I have been using it for 'yotes and prairie dogs for a little while now. I load mine with 87gr VMAX and send them out at around 2900fps. Reloading is easy, there are several powders that work well for it. Have fun and happy independence day.
I've built a 12.5 and a 16 AR in 6ARC. The 12.5 is my favorite. It gets out there for such a short barrel. My understanding is that 18 inch barrel is the sweet spot for this cartridge in an AR platform.
I have an Atheris firearm in 6mm ARC and they are made to order,, but i have a pulsar thermal scope on it. I also have a Atheris 6.5 Grendel with pulsar thermal. My Valkyrie 224 has a pulsar thermal. I have shot yokes at 1 mile with all 3 guns above and I have Sig 716 and used my thermal from 244 and shot a yote at 1.13 mile. Love my pulsar thermals.
I have a 24in gas gun in 6arc and love it. That said you should load your own to get the most out of it. I just got some of the alpha brass. If your chamber is fully supported (check it) and have a good bolt (jp,maxim, rca) I have ran bolt gun loads w no pressure signs. But the hornady and starlines primer pockets tend to open up quick. I have seen .75" groups out of 103g horn predator factory. The same bullet handloaded at the same length with cfe is under .3 ete @ 2800 sd-3 es-8 in 5 shot groups consistently. 112 barnes matchburners w n540 shoots -.6" 10 shot groups consistently @ 2540 sd-10 es-24.
SGAmmo is clearing out the Hornady 7.62x39 sub-x 255gr subsonic hunting load. Amazing how the silhouette of the 6 ARC matches my beloved unobtainable 5.45x39.
Great cartridge. I've got an AR and a savage switchback and both shoot lights out. Can't wait to see you sight it in. I would put Arkins new EP 7-35x56 on it!
the look kind of reminds me of a browning BAR from the Korean war era if it was modernized. yes I know the BAR was an under barrel gas system, but remember I said modernized and that would move the gas system above the barrel to get the barrel more in line with your grip for accuracy.
I hope that stock came with higher cheek risers, if not you will probably have to mount an LPVO to hopefully get it low enough to be able to see through the scope.
6mm arc is finally starting to gain traction it had a slow following because it came out during the coof, but its such a great round ballistically that the hunters and long distance target shooter made sure it stuck, i say its gonna stick like the 300 blk out did for shorty AR's, while the 6mm will do good with both the short and long barrel crowds.
The last rifle i got was the Ruger American Gen2 in 6 arc with the 22in barrel. Pretty nice. Perhaps I should've just went with a 6 creed since I got a bolt gun. But I liked the idea of the 6 arc doing everything I was wanting it for with a little less recoil, and at only $600 for the rifle.
Love the 6 ARC I have a bolt action and two AR upper receivers. My one upper receiver has a Noveske 18" barrel with headspaced bolt and it's a tack driver. I've been deer hurting with mine for a few years now and I use the Hornady Black to hunt with. I have the Arken hunting 4-16 with the Christmas tree reticle on top of my bolt action and the Noveske upper receiver.

Haven’t you heard of handloads??
In this area Wally World only carries shotgun ammo only.
Southern Defence has it too, I am building a 2 upper build. 6.5 Grendel and 6mm Arc
You definitely need to get a bolt 6mm ARC to see that side of the cartridge. It's like a totally different cartridge in a longer barreled bolt action model.
Have a CMMG Endeavor & a Savage bolt gun thru Sportsman Warehouse only it’s a Green (110) over the years got all 3 different ammo weights the black is made for the gas gun but both are excellent shooters didn’t know the ammo is that hard to find as far as optic Arken 6-25x56 on the CMMG on the Savage 4-16x50 absolutely outstanding optic like them over Vortex Strike Eagle better clarity and less money to boot.
Endeavor is sweet

Believe the Savage was a Sportsman only called the Switchback
Nice bullet slinger Happy 4th to you and your family

You can also try HSM Ammunition 6mm ARC V-MAX - 75 gr, Tipped Point Super Shock 95gr Ammo(Hornady SST bullets), Trophy Gold Extended Range 95 gr 6mm ARC(Berger bullets). I just pick some up from Primary Arms for my custom bolt rifle.
I want that BR4 so bad! Badass rifle
Hey WTW, You won't believe this, but 20 years ago when I lived in California, I suggested this exact configuration on an AR-15 platform, on a website called Cal-Guns forum, And got laughed off the site! No one thought it would be a good idea, but now they're selling like hotcakes And everyone wants one. Just figures..
Focus Shooting LLC has a great channel on CZcams and makes uppers for AR-15/10's. The 6mm ARC I picked up from him is GREAT. Accurate and flat shooting with knockdown power similar to the Grendel!!! Cheers!!
Woah I've never seen ammo on the shelf like that where I can grab my self. Damn commifornia
I could never live in a country like that. It’s terrible how the people are treated by their government.
@@ronsamborski6230 what country do you live in
@@HumJ3 I’m in the U.S. My comment was meant to imply that Commiefornia has gone so far away from the ideals of freedom and liberty that it’s almost its own country. I’m hoping that liberty and freedom will return to the entire nation, including the “Left Coast”. I’m in Michigan. Our coastal waters are unsalted and shark free! 🦈
🇺🇸
I've been waiting for 6 arc
Love to see the fort Scott in clay
Our academy sports and outdoors has 6mm ARC on the shelf regularly here in Texas. If you are ever in Texas you can load up.
You must have been so excited that you forgot the intro. Lol. An Arken LH-4 4-16x44 would make a nice deer catcher.
My only complaint about 6 ARC, ammo is hard to find and is kinda expensive. But 100% love mine.
From what i have read a lot of people are loading 105 and 108 grain pills. Starting to collect items for a AR build and build off a zermatt origion action.
I’m running a Nightforce 2.5-20 NX8 works great for a lot of variables. “Highly recommended.”
Seems like Hornady loves to put their “In-House”, creations (I’m about to vomit 🤮 over), @ speeds of 2,750. If I’m not mistaken 6.5 Creed is 2750? I shoot .260 Rem!
Happy Independence Day everyone.
Super awesome.
Nice one Who Tee. Happy 4th! Stay safe and healthy to you and your family!

@@WHOTEEWHO Amen Sir, Amen!
Had almost a humpback look like a Browning shotgun.
If you're not using it for a truck gun, put ALL the zoomies on top and an offset red or green dot for the close up critter catching.🙃
Cool video
primary arms carries HSM brand 6mm arc ammo I several different gr bullets.
That cartridge is made to be shot out of a gas opperated semi. Supposedly ,the potential for you to reload and increase the pressure for a bolt gun is definitley there.
I’ve been waiting for this day!!!!!
I have a 6ARC in a AR and a savage bolt gun!!!
Neither one likes the match. The bolt gun shoots the precision hunter very well and my AR loves the black
Always have 5 lb of powder minimum 5000 primers 2500 in small rifle and 2500 in large rifle and buy bulk boo Lots reload only the high dollar stuff No 9 mm or 556 just a big stuff that breaks the bank for 100 rounds I reload 338 Lapua Mag in Lapua brass with match grade primers and I only use Burger 300 grain otm hybrid Tactical and I'm at about a $1.10 around and to buy it off the shelf it's $180 for a box of 20
Here in Illinois, we can't have any scary military style guns, so I had to get a bolt action Howa in 6 ARC. Ruger was supposed to chamber the American Predator in 6 ARC, but haven't yet that I've seen. And if you find an Ruger American Predator rifle in 6 ARC, can you review it. I love those Ruger Americans and I love the 7 ARC too.
A MUCH BETTER comparison would be 6mm ARC against the mighty .243Win, at least we can see the size v's performance difference between the mighty 6mm's!
Downunder here we won't see 6mm ARC for a while so it'd be nice to see the difference
6mm arc is awesome
6 ARC didn't take off like I was hoping it would but I love mine.
I run the Berger 109s through it. Sub-moa Ar, can't really complain.
Sounds like the projectile weights line up well enough to use 243 projectiles.
Hornady 105 black seem to shoot well in most guns.
Good shooting round. Very flat shooting. The one that I shot like the Hornady black rounds!
If browning wanted to modernize the BAR this would be it.
6 ARC is awesome but not awesome enough I would buy one since I have a Larue 6.5 grendel already.
Interesting looking Boolots slinger.
Guns piled up all over the place 😂😂😂 gotta love it
