  • WARNING: This episode contains issues surrounding domestic violence and animal cruelty.
In May 2021, the world was rocked by a disturbing story. Reports were coming through, that a family in Greece had been the target of a violent and barbaric rampage inside their own home.
20 year old Caroline Crouch had been killed, as had her dog Roxy, her husband Babis had been tied up and left for dead and the couples 11 month old daughter Lydia had had a gun pointed at her head.
But, as disturbing as that story was, the real truth was even worse.
    MAY 2022 UPDATE:
According to the Mirror, her husband "faced four counts: premeditated murder, animal abuse, perverting the course of justice and lying to authorities. And he has been found guilty of all counts [...]". The verdict was unanimous. He faces a maximum of 35 years in, according to The Telegraph.

Right!! You just don't even go down that road. Many years ago my father in law went on a weekend fishing trip and while he was gone my husband's friends all packed up his mom and little sister - their beds, everything they needed or that was hers - in two days and had them moved into an apartment. It was really cool to see everyone buckle down and get it done like that. My father in law was not a violent guy, but was an angry drunk and she knew that was the best way to get out. And she was right. A lot of fighting after but no physical altercations. M

For one thing, even infants can experience PSTD, and it wouldn't surprise me if this wasn't the first violent episode little Lydia experienced (there were reports, for instance about how he had destroyed the bathroom door, possibly with a mallet). So for one thing we know she has already been affected. The thing is the experiences we have up to the age of 5 shape our character and behaviour, even if we don't recall them. It's a really sad aspect of domestic violence. A baby can be scared for life if it witnesses violence against its mother, if you add this cruel murder... Let's not forget that he placed the baby on top of the mother's back, this is really REALLY sick. It goes well beyond an attempt to set up the crime scene, he really wanted to display his superiourity. Infants are like a sponge they evaluate every little detail. They may not be able to process them mentally, but they do process them in other ways. If you google about domestic abuse effects on babies and infants you'll see many reports based on research on the subject, another proof about how humans are the most despicable species on the planet.

What the hell is wrong with us men that we can't accept when a relationship is over, can't allow our partners their space and freedom? How weak and insecure to beat and abuse a woman and then kill her for daring to leave.
Fellas, when she wants to leave, let her go. It's over. Learn from it, don't hold on. It's undignified, weak and unmanly. And at the extremes it's dangerous and can ruin lives.

Tell someone you 100% trust that you’re leaving and ask them for help. DO NOT tell your abuser that you’re leaving. Just go. If you have children or pets Take them with you. Don’t think about anything else. Things can be sorted at a later date. Just leave. Please.

Nobody should marry and have a baby at 20. You haven't found out who you are or what you want to do or be yet. You also don't know how to judge people properly yet and she clearly never got to know this beast enough before she shackled herself to him and then had a baby with him. People rush into these big life decisions far too precipitously and are overwhelmed by the consequences.

Also, her husband allowed her to go nowhere by herself. He was always together with her, when she met her friends, when she was at the counselor's office, when she was at the food expert's office, even when she went for her wedding dress rehearsals. He only allowed her to use the taxi of one of his friends. She was also completely dependent on him when it came to money and he married her without her parents knowing, so that they wouldn't prevent the wedding. When the girl had a miscarriage, he pressured her to get pregnant again immediately, without caring about her mental and physical state and that's why the pregnancy was a tough one and the baby had some health issues after birth. Also, the counselor was found out to be a fake one because she was not certified.

This guy likely had a string of relationships and the women ended up leaving his abusive ass. So his next step was to find a girl he could completely control. What a f*cking loser. There are so many bitter cases where this just can't happen. I suppose a lot has to do with how the parents of the murderer respond to the whole thing. Good on all of them for making this about the baby and not themselves. Its s hard thing to do sometimes.
