- Sean Lock performed a special show in a small venue in Islington, London in 2015 for a warm up. This was somewhere between Purple Van Man and Keep It Light. Really interesting, stripped back show where he interacts with the crowd a lot for his material.

He was brilliant, wasn't he. What a loss. I wonder if any comics use social media these days to try out new material. Probably not; there'd be a delay in response compared to a live gig. Feedback would be too studied and not spontaneous enough to be useful. And I suppose there's the danger of having trolls hijack your material or claim that they came up with it first...
Yep. The intimate live show is definitely the safest option. It must be great to be 'in' on the beginning of a new gag. I'd love to have been in the audience the first time he tried out his 'Wrong number' telephone routine.

I was both sad my joke didnt work and happy why it fell flat
Did you ever watch him on cats does countdown? He was basically in this mode every night, a good watch even if you dont like real countdown, cats does is well worth a watch if you havnt
