Cue the Glen Campbell because we're in the throes of those summer Southern Nights! That's right, this time Jeffrey passes the lens to everyone's favorite husky-voiced magnolia, Richard!
Southern Boiled Peanuts aren't your ordinary peanuts. These are a lovely, salty treat packed with flavor, are soft to the chew and are just fun to eat. You can make them spicy, zesty, mild - anyway you want it really. And they'd normally take between 2.5-3 hours to boil on the stove, but thanks to the Instant Pot, we can do this in half the time making this the perfect example of how the IP can really cook many things so much more conveniently than traditional methods (and not heating up your kitchen at the same time)!
They're literally one of the easiest things you'll make in the Instant Pot and you'll be sitting on the front porch appreciating life just a little more as you suck the brine off each one before sucking out those little treasures.

You guys rock!
Yall guys are great. Living in Georgia here an we all LOVE boiled peanuts. thanks for the sharing. Will have to try this.
Yum!!! We moved to South Carolina in 1984 from Chicago. We immersed ourselves in southern culture. We love boiled peanuts, but had never made them. I got my instant Pot, and bought green peanuts. It was so easy! We like them soft, so I cooked them for an hour, then NPR. They were perfectly cooked. We like traditional, so I left out the seasonings. I made 2 more batches, and froze them.Your recipes are fantastic, I tell all the new people in the Instant Pot Community to watch your videos.
I have been loving your videos and just love you and Richard. This video just made me love y'all even more!!! I am a true Southerner from the Mississippi Delta and was raised on boiled peanuts. My husband makes them all of the time. Richard made me smile explaining how to eat them, seriously there is no other way to eat them...you have to suck the juice!! We are new Instant Pot owners and can't wait to try boiled peanuts in out Instant Pot!! To the folks that have never tried boiled peanuts, you are missing out and should definitely try them!! love you guys!!
I love Richards videos! He did a great job!
Oh my GOSH!!! I am a true Southerner and I am so excited to make these!
Yassssss I love the southern moment! I've gone to boiled peanut stands with my family since I was young.
Thank you ... I just bought an instant pot and my husband loves boiled peanuts. We are originally from South Carolina where we ate them all the time.
That is so cool! I am so excited! I am going to share this with my sister and her husband- they will love it! Thank you!
I absolutely love you two cuties!!! Thank you for all the lovely recipes. Aloha Dionne
Born and raised in Georgia and love my boiled peanuts on game day!t I gotta say they are always better hot! Thanks for recipe! If you don't want cajun throw in a quarter to half a cup of white distilled vinegar along with the kosher salt.
Best, simplest recipe ever, from this Georgia gal. 💜
Oh yummmmmmmm. I can't wait to try these. I LOVE boiled peanuts
love, love, love boiled peanuts!!! Must try this recipe. my friend adds smoked ham hocks and smoked neck bones when she does them in a crock pot with lots of spices!!! yum yum
I always make my Cajun boiled peanuts in the stove (6 hours!)--- thanks for posting this so I can make them faster now! I like mine temperature hot, although cold is ok too! If you like them hot, they microwave great! They also freeze great (with the juice, of course!)
I just made boiled peanuts yesterday and I cooked those suckers for 8 hours on high in my crock pot! 45 minutes! Tell Richard he's a natural and we want to see more of him.
"Little Potato Balls" will be the truest Yankee term, ever, now.
well looks like I found another recipe to make today for our BBQ! I normally always make them in the crock pot. I'll be doing it this way today!
Great show as always. I normally boil peanuts outside so as not to stink the house now this will be not only a time saver it will reduce the skitter attacks :)
I make mine using green chile's and green chile enchilada sauce. Can't be beat. Yummy!
Y’all are a delight!
Just add some sweet tea and me oh my.... now I want some boiled peanuts. The green peanuts are hard to find in Texas but I think I will try to hunt them down again now. Thanks!
I haven’t had these in years 😩🤤 I am so gonna make these
Going to try it tomorrow thanks for the great video :)
This reminds me of New Orleans. Such a yummy snack. Love your videos. :P
Winn-Dixie just had some of the best looking green peanuts on sale this week. Decided to try cooking them in the instant pot instead of the crock pot like I used to. Hope it turns out well.
Love you guys! Don’t mind me, fairly new to Pressure Luck. Just binge watching videos.
I LOVE boiled Peanuts......only bad things down in Miami Florida, it is very hard to find. I will now try with Raw Peanut method, THANKS Love your channel...
Those look amazing!!! Watching from Gadsden Alabama
Haha! I've always said they taste like little potatoes also! BTW, they are preferably to be eaten warm. Not cold. Ask anyone in the south. That is why when you see them on display in convenient stores in the south they are in crock pots keeping warm. Great video and thanks!
I will have to try this come summer love boiled peanuts. First time I try to boil peanuts myself I was a child boiled them that night and was thinking about all day at school when I got home my mother told me I used to much salt and need to boil them again didn't tell me to use clean water to reboil so you can image how that turned out
I’m glad I found this recipe
That's how I make mine. Yes the fresh green peanuts are the way to go and you must use the liquid crawfish boil concentrate.
Try adding a couple of star anise pods in the pot, very popular in Hawaii, gives it that licorice flavor.... in a good way 😋
I love you. That is all. I was just thinking about boiled peanuts.
I tried these when I lived in Florida...I thought they were nasty...I also was told to ....lol...eat the shell, I think they are still laughing at me . I will try them again, because you two made it look appealing . Thanks !

AHHHHHHHHHH!!! Your Richard is from the South. I grew up in the Pensacola area. We LOVE our Boiled Peanuts!!
carol Baswell he knows Pensacola well!
Hi Robert -- we now live in Middle TN .
From Lakeland Florida 🌈🌈
@@scott9607 Oh yeah! Atmore Alabama best peanut stand ever! Not to far from Cantonment.
From P'cola, too! Now living on the left coast and have to dog every farmer's market to find these babies.
omg! You look just like my younger cousin Scott. (That's a compliment). I am a southern Baptist girl, born and raised, and I love a good Jewish cooked brisket. Your pastrami I made the last 2 days was awesome. I sent half of it home with my grandson. (he's my taste tester) I am about to check out this boiled peanut recipe!
OMG thank you!!
Lol by 1:20 this recipe has become a comedy that will never feed you
I live in the south and found greens at Walmart today. They look slightly wet so I think that means they are green. When u say raw u mean they are dry like dry beans and that's why they are treated differently. Is that right?
Bertie County Peanuts! in North Carolina! Awesome supplier
I am so excited that I watched your video!!!! I just received my order of "green peanuts". Ironically I just bought an Instant Pot. OMGosh I am also thrilled that someone knows the difference between raw and green peanuts. I am from the south and it's amazing how many people really say raw peanuts are green. Can't wait to try this. Do you have to weigh them down? Thanks so much for posting this!!!! ❤️❤️
Jandre O'Keef love this comment! Enjoy them!!!!! And I suggest weighing them down as they'll tend to want to float and this keeps them contained.
Jandre - What is the difference ? I would really like to know.
Truth Hurtz, my understanding is that green peanuts are harvested and cleaned. Raw peanuts are green peanuts that have been dehydrated and generally used for roasting. When you use raw peanuts you have to rehydrate them for at least 12 hrs or more before you boil them. Raw peanuts take longer to boil too. Green peanuts in my opinion are much better to boil.
Jandre - I appreciate your response, and detailed explanation. I tried boiling 'raw' peanuts once......and gave up after they boiled for, I don't know, SIX MONTHS !!! (or so it seemed). I learned something today, Thank you so much !!!
I've never heard of these peanuts before, nor have I seen them in the store. I'll have to see where they sell them in San Diego. Thanks for the recipe Richard and Jeff, and have a great 4th of July!
Let us know - I too am in San Diego!
It's a southern side-of-the-road "delicacy"
I got some at Seafood City in MiraMesa
Whenever I go back to P'cola I get bags and bags of these things. Now my house won't stink for hours on end. I never thought about the crab boil. Hmmm. Thanks.
So what Instant pot did you use for the peanuts?
Boil-em in beer 👍👍👍
I am going to try that today ---- After your done how long do they last refrigerated -- like if I put some in ziplock bags?
A good week and a half in my experience
OMG. I love these but my husband thinks I'm nuts and just made them up.
I know you didn't! Boiled peanuts are so yummy, they are at the Race Trac gas stations in my area of Athens, Georgia
Nice vid guys. I've got mine in the pressure cooker now so we'll see how they turn out. The crab boil is top secret material and my go to when I make jambalaya.
I thought raw and green were the same thing. Are they described or listed at markets as either raw or green?
Hi I can find these peanuts in nyc? Where ?
I am not sure who told you to bite them to get them open?? If cooked correctly they pull apart easily, then you dump the half with the juice and nuts into your mouth....yum!! I will have to try this recipe!
OOOooooh yeah, BOiled PeanUts :)
Green ones have duds in them use dry select ones cook 240 mins in the pressure cooker a hour isn’t long enough there still crunchy
,I was wondering about this. I'm in uk. We can only get the dried ones. Thank you.
I agree. I tried 120 minutes and that just wasn’t long enough.
This is what I have found, salt dries out the nut while cooking so drop the salt in at the end or let them said for 24 hours after they have been cooked.
Could you can boiled peanuts?
Why don't we get more Richard Southern cooking?
Just made these following your directions to the letter and they are way too soft/overcooked. Tasty, but the peanuts were soft and mushy. I did 45 minutes on high in the InstantPot with a natural cool down. If i try again, I'd probably cut that time in half with a instant pressure release.
Just tried my second batch and they came out perfect (at least how I like them). Easy to peel, a bit al Dente, and not soft and mushy. 25 minutes High Pressure in the Instant Pot and a natural cool down. Let them sit a few hours in the brine, drain and put in the fridge overnight. Boiled peanuts are always best the 2nd day, anyway. Hope this helps.
Trying this with my Ninja Foodi. Couldn’t find “green” ones, just raw. I’m too impatient to soak them overnight, so I’m pressure cooking them on high for 90 minutes. We’ll see how it goes...
Just found two bags of raw peanuts at Kroger!! Strings don't matter.
Did this dude just say they are better cold?!?
Professional peanut cook instant pot is find do not add salt or other ingredients until peanuts are fully cooked then let them sit in the brine and keep them warm I sell almost 3000 lbs of peanuts a year trust me on this tip also use ice cream salt instead of iodized
I love all your recipes, but I'll pass on this. I'm from Kentucky and these are common around here and I just can't do the texture. However I love peanuts Raw. Keep the recipes coming! Love your videos!
My daughter it's the shell lol
Hello are you there
New York City.
I love boiled peanuts. But, I'm from New Orleans, not the South, and I'm no coonass, so I don't use all that salt or all the spicy cajun-style glop. Prefer a pinch of salt and a decent dose of BROWN SUGAR!. I've seen people in other parts of the world boil theirs with hardly any salt, too. Try 'em, you might be surprised. Bon appetit!
The ones in can are too soft
I can't even find them in a can in California I had them in Georgia and I was hooked
They are supposed to be a bit soft.
How much fucking water do I use!?
Ummmmm.... You may have gotten a bad batch. Green peanuts DO NOT or ARE NOT supposed to smell like "feet..."
I think he said feed which they do smell a bit like when they come out of the field. Not feet. Lol
So grody.
You aren’t required to pulled the tags off, it’s for show. True southerners will never refer to a dried peanut that is later soaked and boiled as a true boiled peanut. The only true boiled peanut is a green peanut.
Nope instant pot just doesn't do boiled peanuts justice. Was really disappointed. Pressure cooking peanuts just isn't good.
Ahh these peanuts are F#cked. .All they need is salt. Do you put Chili peppers in peanut butter? Or the other shit? No.. just salt.
