    Cue the Glen Campbell because we're in the throes of those summer Southern Nights! That's right, this time Jeffrey passes the lens to everyone's favorite husky-voiced magnolia, Richard!
    Southern Boiled Peanuts aren't your ordinary peanuts. These are a lovely, salty treat packed with flavor, are soft to the chew and are just fun to eat. You can make them spicy, zesty, mild - anyway you want it really. And they'd normally take between 2.5-3 hours to boil on the stove, but thanks to the Instant Pot, we can do this in half the time making this the perfect example of how the IP can really cook many things so much more conveniently than traditional methods (and not heating up your kitchen at the same time)!
    They're literally one of the easiest things you'll make in the Instant Pot and you'll be sitting on the front porch appreciating life just a little more as you suck the brine off each one before sucking out those little treasures.

    Yum!!! We moved to South Carolina in 1984 from Chicago. We immersed ourselves in southern culture. We love boiled peanuts, but had never made them. I got my instant Pot, and bought green peanuts. It was so easy! We like them soft, so I cooked them for an hour, then NPR. They were perfectly cooked. We like traditional, so I left out the seasonings. I made 2 more batches, and froze them.Your recipes are fantastic, I tell all the new people in the Instant Pot Community to watch your videos.

We are new Instant Pot owners and can't wait to try boiled peanuts in out Instant Pot!! To the folks that have never tried boiled peanuts, you are missing out and should definitely try them!! love you guys!!

OMGosh I am also thrilled that someone knows the difference between raw and green peanuts. I am from the south and it's amazing how many people really say raw peanuts are green. Can't wait to try this. Do you have to weigh them down? Thanks so much for posting this!!!! ❤️❤️

    • @PressureLuck
      @PressureLuck  Před 7 lety

      Jandre O'Keef love this comment! Enjoy them!!!!! And I suggest weighing them down as they'll tend to want to float and this keeps them contained.

      Jandre - What is the difference ? I would really like to know.

    • @jandreokeef9330
      @jandreokeef9330 Před 6 lety

      Truth Hurtz, my understanding is that green peanuts are harvested and cleaned. Raw peanuts are green peanuts that have been dehydrated and generally used for roasting. When you use raw peanuts you have to rehydrate them for at least 12 hrs or more before you boil them. Raw peanuts take longer to boil too. Green peanuts in my opinion are much better to boil.

    • @truthhurtz2793
      @truthhurtz2793 Před 6 lety +1

      Jandre - I appreciate your response, and detailed explanation. I tried boiling 'raw' peanuts once......and gave up after they boiled for, I don't know, SIX MONTHS !!! (or so it seemed). I learned something today, Thank you so much !!!

    Just made these following your directions to the letter and they are way too soft/overcooked. Tasty, but the peanuts were soft and mushy. I did 45 minutes on high in the InstantPot with a natural cool down. If i try again, I'd probably cut that time in half with a instant pressure release.

    • @thornhillart
      @thornhillart Před 6 lety

      Just tried my second batch and they came out perfect (at least how I like them). Easy to peel, a bit al Dente, and not soft and mushy. 25 minutes High Pressure in the Instant Pot and a natural cool down. Let them sit a few hours in the brine, drain and put in the fridge overnight. Boiled peanuts are always best the 2nd day, anyway. Hope this helps.

    I love boiled peanuts. But, I'm from New Orleans, not the South, and I'm no coonass, so I don't use all that salt or all the spicy cajun-style glop. Prefer a pinch of salt and a decent dose of BROWN SUGAR!. I've seen people in other parts of the world boil theirs with hardly any salt, too. Try 'em, you might be surprised. Bon appetit!
