Today, I have been a blubber queen. I have no idea why. I don't usually succumb so easily, "stiff upper lip" and all, but I'm not British. Brown is an inherited name from waaay back.
The chateau is looking fabulous, the walled garden is such a treat, everything growing so well both flowers and vegetables. So much going on, a real hive of activity.
I'm hoping this trip was a great rest for you Steph. Can't wait to see Amaury and his skills.

I live in NJ/NYC area. We were hit hard with flooding rains. We’ve been without power 24 hours. Should be restored by tomorrow midnight. Wow!
@@johncunningham1098 yes, it hit the middle/upper East Coast quite fiercely. Flooding in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania. Tornado, destroyed homes, downed trees, power outages in some of those states. It is more severe than we've seen, en masse like that. Temps are in the 70's but going back up into the 80's Fahrenheit.

Reading your thanks, seeing the generosity of complete strangers (with nothing to gain from you), warms my heart and I have to hold back tears. With the world often an unpredictable, sometimes unstable place - you and the marquis and marquesses have created a wonderful wee kingdom. (I'[m so happy and I'm a bit of a mess emotionally. I can see and hear Stephanie's enthusiasm. Could there be a better custodian for Lalande? I don't think so. After 15 years of accepting the limitations of what she could feasibly do. I choke up thinking about it).
And the Lords and Lady's 🙂 Every little helps.
One of the nice things about Stephanie is that she shows her gratitude in whatever way she can and it appears to be heartfelt.
And the CZcamsrs. Stephanie is always so grateful as are Nick and Micheal Potts. The Marks Brothers once auctioned off Harpo voice for charity. I suggest you auction off a photo of Nick for charity. LOL

Barbados is in a good spot. I have been visiting my Grandparents there yearly for about 15 years, and no problems. Unlike many of the Caribbean Islands.
In this video before she left for 3 weeks she said she would be back the first of sept. So I’m thinking she’s back at the chateau by now.

On Wednesday in the live Patron video they had been there for a week and a half so if the stayed there the full two weeks that would put them in NYC on this coming Sunday Sept. 5th, 2021 which would mean they missed the bad weather. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 They stay in NYC just four days so should be leaving around the 8th or 9th. Putting them back at LaLande in time to say goodbye to the last of the music workshop people. Whew! What a trip! I noticed some haters in some of the comments! That makes me so sad. I figured we would get more of those on here the bigger the channel got. Such a shame. We have been, from the start, such a supportive group of people. Thanks for the forecast sharing. In the other reply’s here. That helped us put the weather in perspective.

Oh my nerves! I would have been so stressed out over all of the last minute tests ands results and mishaps! Thank goodness for the wonderful workers who stayed open especially for you. A little care and compassion can go a long way in helping someone else get through a crisis. A lot of times we don't see the soft heart that Gerald has for you Stephanie because of all of his joking around but it was clearly visible when the two of you were saying goodbye. The love between you was palpable. Have fun on all of your trips and I hope you relax and enjoy the Barbados before heading to New York. Much love to you.

@@vicki3220 hey, I can see how it can look that way. But definitely watch some of her older videos about the journey she has been on. It was not easy for her to get where she is now. Stephanie has definitely WILLED her life, as it is now, into existence. Just wanted to share that with you, not attacking or anything. 🙂
@@Ren-xc1cb I agree with you about the past. I too have watched many of the old videos. From what I have understood even in those olden days she did travel. Right now even though she does spend a lot of time editing (I think she has a lot of help from Philip) she is handsomely rewarded for that work and it does not appear that she does any manual work like cleaning, cooking, renovating, gardening, not even managing (Natty does that). So, even though she carved this position she is in herself, it is not a hard life and it seems to me that she has a very comfortable life that majority people can only dream of. And let’s not forget that she started in life with an inheritance and than she worked, but so has everyone else. I have enjoyed watching her videos but the acolytes left right and centre are a bit over the top. I mean there is a small army of paid and unpaid people working for her.

@@vicki3220 Hi Vicki. Stephanie spends over 40 hrs per wk filming and editing her vlogs. It's now her job, it brings in the money to keep the renovations going and keeps the whole show on the road. I can only imagine how much time she has spent recently pre recording 2 wks of vlogs for her trip. I remember when she had to go out in her car late at night looking for a signal to upload the vlog, her internet connection was so bad, it would take her hours. Due to her hard work and determination she is now living her dream life (still working hard) and I am delighted for her.
@@sheilaghk6350 It’s hardly a herculean effort. Billons of people are working much harder for a fraction of the reward. I just wanted to put it in a perspective and get it back to the reality.

Yesterday was the worst storm NYC has ever encountered, thinking of Stephanie and Phillip. I am in NJ and our state took a very bad hit from the storm as well. Keeping all in the area in prayers and looking forward to seeing the vlog in less than 30 mins now.

@@katrinatoland7553 thank you so much, praying for all who have been affected. The tornadoes and flooding were some of the worst. I am hearing experts say it was the worst storm recorded in this area. We are safe here in central NJ, but horrid flooding all around us and in NYC. Praying for all.

I feel for you! We very recently traveled to Denmark from the USA and the trip there was a folly of incidences! 1 canceled flight, 3 delayed flights, 1 missed connection, 1 extra country, 30 hours of travel time, 2 lost suitcases, 1 broken unfixable suitcase. We were so nervous that our PCR tests would expire because we missed our connecting flight and we would be stuck in London for 10 days in quarantine!
The good news is that the return travel experience went much more smoothly! Travel right now seems quite difficult with all of the changing rules, lack of flights and flight crews. Have a WONDERFUL vacation & try to relax! All is well!

awww! I lived in Barbados for a few months and looking at the last few clips of your video made me miss it so much. Hope it was everything you hoped it would be
Love the skull and cross chainsaw logo on Nick the tree man's equipment - what guy, he knows his stuff! And there's nothing like the smell of the timber, how I remember the intoxicating smell of the cypress pine from the family mill. I think flying will be stressful for a long time, with travelers having the same covid related problems, but once on the plane, Steph and Philip were heading to paradise... time to get out Jimmy Buffet!
My step family runs a tree farm but no milling on site, so I wanted to see it done on site.

My Dad's family had a mill in northern NSW, so it was in the country, Dad's 3 brothers and my Grandmother all had homes along the street side of the very long block and the mill was behind her house. They used huge circular saws back then and the off-cuts were piled up high then burned, the beautiful cypress smell always brings back so many wonderful childhood memories... 🦘

I just had a Stephanie moment. I didn't know the contractor was coming to fix our water heater today so opened the door in my robe. He was horrified and was like "I'll be back in 10 so you can put yourself together" 🤣

We love Barbados having spent our Canadian winters in the sunshine of that beautiful island quite a few times. We stay in the Sandy Lane area near the sweet chattel house shopping mall that you drove by. I will enjoy seeing all the places you visited during your stay on the island.

I have 3 memories of best meals I have even had. One was after spending 4 months in India, coming back through London to the US. After restocking the plane in London and after take off off, they brought me.... a SCONE, with JAM AND CLOTTED CREME!!!!! I swear heavenly rays broke through the clouds and shone down on my little airline tray table. I can't remember having had anything so good - after 4 months in Asia with only flat great it was absolute heaven.
and I'm totally trying the jam on first nest time. Good idea!

And the trip.. How exciting. I travel from Australia home to London often in the normal world.. always so emotional when I arrive.. Can't wit to see the adventure.

Stephanie your frustrations and stress certainly showed through the video and so glad you had your trusty Philip by your side and it wasn't the tripod one !!! What wonderful guests to surprise you with an upgrade, you certainly deserved it after all the nose swabs and stress. The ending with the happy colorful Barbados homes was a great way to end the story. Glad to see the sun shining and no hurricanes in sight.
STEPHANIE & PHILLIP.... your vlog has proved I haven't made a melodrama about leaving home, getting PRC tests and cost, completion of locator forms online, 2 day tests (more cost) and all the rest of an abnormal (previously known as normal) trip to the UK. (I had my tests emailed to me which was also a relief) The relief of actually sitting in a coach at Heathrow southbound was enormous. I know the video was made in advance of hols, but i hope you have both enjoyed a well deserved holiday! Xx Alex

I think there was a missed opportunity here. I think they should have had Dan hijack the intro (Hi, I'm Dan, and I work at this 14th Century Chateau in France...) and then have Stephanie rush in from off-camera yelling, "Dan, what are you doing?!" Dan says "I thought you were on vacation?" and Stephanie replies, "I haven't left yet!" ;)

Tucson after its deadwood gulch look following the drought..has now had several huge storms.. the second wildflower season is here..the smells are delightful( no smells in the hottest heat..it burns away...) fave time in tucson, it always happens the day after you get burned out...the rain comes and washes the dry dusty dust..away..have a wonderful time...
There is a plant in Tucson area that smells fantastic after rain! I miss that plant here in Europe soooo much. Rain is really disappointing without it.
@@michellezevenaar it is the creosote, a very ancient plant..tiny leaves (waxy!), Tiny yellow flowers, used to seal the sweat in when crossing the desert..many uses, grows til the branches split, grows from the fallen branches..so it moves that way, just saw one on here, that was 11,400 years old..
