    Really good overviews. I was going to say that you really should NOT listen to yourself locally off your audio device but listen to the return or yourself via Sonobus. Maybe this isn't as important with Sonobus as it's direct audio but I know It's a must for Jamulus. It helps with everyone playing in the same time.

      Thanks John! I keep seeing people talk about doing this, but I do not like to hear myself with any kind of latency when I play. Maybe some people can ignore the delay and it helps them play "ahead of the beat", but for me this is very distracting. Especially in Jamulus. Monitoring the direct signal comes down to whatever your hardware is and monitoring capabilities. I'm using Pro Tools with the SonoBus plugin, that way I can EQ, Compress, and treat my signal as a Software Mixer prior to SonoBus. I choose to monitor myself through Pro Tools, but using the monitor in SonoBus works too. If you have a crappy interface that introduces a lot of latency, you might be better off with some direct monitoring. If you don't have a way to easily mix the direct signal (via a hardware of software mixer) might be a limiting factor.

    Great vid! I've used Sonobus a few times now and it seems to work well for me. What is weird is I don't see myself in the window just the others that are connected. But it seems to work fine otherwise.

      I will be adding more content to this series, so I have split it into smaller videos. There are a few other softwares I want to demo and make it part of the playlist. I figured people will want to get to the point and not listen to me babble for longer then a few minutes anyhow! :) Thanks!!!

      While there is a limit to the attention span that most will tolerate in a videos length it's usually closer to 20-30 minutes. The few minute videos in part 1 and 2 are so short as to be annoying that you have to keep clicking between them. Just my take. I'm sure as you do more videos the analytics will bear out what your viewers will and will not prefer.

    The 3 In Pan options aren't clear to me, especially since I'm trying to send a stereo guitar signal in one input and mono vocal mic in the other. Not sure how that is actually working out or heard on the other end. All I know is that when I direct monitor, stereo guitar patches sound much, much better than mono.

      @@TheBenjaneerAudio thanks again ...I'm fairly new to DAWs but decided on mixcraft which I think is a little simpler for beginners... so I will eventually be playing around with the Sonobus VST... I also decided to replace my old interface with a Mackie pro FX version three mixer. I don't need a lot of channels so I just got the six channel but it will open up some possibilities..

    First let me say you are a big help to with sonobus logic pro x and reaper my mac took a crap and while getting it fixed I went and used my gaming pc for audio stuff. you have basically explained this in your videos but so far not the big picture im going for or maybe i just didn't put it all together. Here's my problem Im using a focusrite 18i20 and the focusrite control Im using Amplitube 5 Im using reaper and I want to jam and record on sonobus where all the players hear my vst or plug ins my amplitube sounds. Can you break it down for me? I have a good bit of experience in live audio and I have an okay ear but mainly im comfortable behind the monitor board but Im am green as grass when it comes to computer recording and all it brings with it. 3 years in using logic pro x and I have a grasp on things and my mac dies so here I am at your youtube chan asking for help.
    please help. P.S. if you are a sim pilot Ill teach you all I know in return or just take a look at my chan and see if you wish

    • @TheBenjaneerAudio
      @TheBenjaneerAudio  Před rokem

      I use Amplitube and SonoBus Plugin inside of Pro Tools. Using a DAW is the easiest way to route everything together. I am doing this on Windows as well. The other option is using VoiceMeeter, I believe you can use it to virtually route Amplitube to Sonobus stand alone apps. That requires a bit more configuration

  • @srikrshnachaitanyaswami3625

    I am trying to connect to sonobus on mac, but I get an error message saying that either my firewall is blocking it, or I need to configure my router with port forwarding. My firewall is off, so I don't think that is the issue. Port forwarding also does not seem to work. Any suggestions?

    Is it possible to work with this via wi-fi?
    Or do you need to connect the internet cable directly to the computer?

    • @TheBenjaneerAudio
      @TheBenjaneerAudio  Před 3 lety +1

      It's POSSIBLE to connect via Wi-Fi, but it will make your latency and connection very unstable. I do not recommend wifi. It's fine if you are just trying to test audio routing and things. But low-latency jamming will not be very good on Wi-Fi.
