Ok, out of the box on a bench in a home workshop it’s whole life they may be pretty close, throw both of those in a bag in the back of a truck. Run them from industrial job site to site every day in all weather conditions use them how the fluke is designed to be used and see how they compare then. Otherwise it’s not a real comparison.

@@skylerhoney3912 you obviously do not work in an industry that uses this meter in the field like fluke designed theirs. Use that harbor freight meter in rain, freezing, dusty environments or in an industrial setting like a refinery or power generation plant and see how well it holds up. Without a clear OEM on the HF meter who is going to trust their life checking switchgear, large scale ups’s or even a motor starter? The fluke is an industrial meter for industrial users, hf is the home user. I’ve never seen any hf product on a commercial or industrial job site in almost 30 years in the industry.

@@pmn6404 if your career is at an "industrial refinery" then you can easily buy the nicest fluke after a paycheck or two. HF one is $75 and for diy weekend warrior who just needs to get through a couple of home projects. Both have a place.

@@velvetypotato711 exactly my point.. who cares that this is the same on a bench out of the box.. the video creator is trying to say they are the same in quality.. that are not.

@@pmn6404 I must have missed that part of the video where he says it's the same quality as the fluke. I did see the the title that says "DM 1000 compared to calibrated fluke 87", and then he proceeded to compare their measurement results, which to me implies he's only talking about the accuracy. I saw no statements, test, or otherwise that would imply the video creator is trying to state that the Ames meter is as tough, rugged, or robust as the fluke, or that it can last in daily use industrial conditions. So, as the previous commenter stated, these meters are targeted for DIY home gamers, do they not also deserve accurate measuring meters, even if they don't need it to stand up to freezing temps, rain, dust, and other abuse? Or should they have to fork out full price for the fluke like the guys who are getting paid when using the meter for industry?

Is this model enough to be compatible with car work?
