  • I love working on Windows XP computers; they’re so painful.
What started as trying to revive an older XP computer turned into a nightmare. I went into that project with no research done and nearly lost my mind. But I just so happened to have this random Lenovo desktop sitting around being unused. I’d gotten it about a year ago, but didn’t know what to do with it since it’s too old and too weak for modern gaming.
Why not install Windows XP on it? On the eve of XP first being released to manufacturing, let’s see if we can run Windows XP 32-Bit on this weak (by modern standards) dual-core desktop and try to reclaim all the 2000s PC gaming goodness I missed out on.
The laptop you see in the beginning is also a Lenovo; it’s a ThinkPad T61 with an Intel Centrino CPU and an NVidia mobile Quadro running XP Professional. It’s right on that edge of IBM leaving the consumer computer market.
