  • The original upload got hit with Content ID for how I used "Moon Over The Castle".
I like racing games, but where did I get it from? Gran Turismo, obviously!
Sit back and enjoy the story of my memories with Gran Turismo as well as how it bolstered my love for the automobile. And also why I don't really play it that much.

Well-produced video, but damn, you got a bit screwed-over in your GT4 playthrough. The '05 Mustang GT has bugged stats, it was given a 65:35 weight distribution which, especially when combined with power upgrades, cripples its traction exiting corners because all of its weight is up front instead of on top of the rear wheels. Even a Camaro would have been way less insufferable to drive. Would definitely recommend giving it another go; the Shelby Series One is a fantastic workhorse to invest in if you're going to do the RSC grind.
Also, racing tyres are so so important in GT2 for avoiding situations like your Supra spin-out at Rome. Racing mediums at the very least will cut down your lap times by seconds, and because all tyres have the same durability in GT1 and GT2, super softs have insane grip with no downside.

Fantastic presentation! My first exposure to the Gran Turismo series was GT4. Nowadays, I'm playing GT2 like it's a brand spanking new game.. It's SO easy to pick up and play.

Hey man sounds like your from Michigan! Takes one to know one lol. Love this channel and all the little GT sound effects you’re sprinkling in throughout your videos. I can feel your passion and love for GT. Hopefully our paths will cross one day! You know, the Woodward Dream Show and Cruise is coming up in August and GT1 inspired me to buy and own a R33 GT-R. Hope to see you there!

2 little infos: afaik the b-spec mode that was in GT4 was already planned/an idea for GT3 but couldn't be realised, a-spec would have been the name for the GT3 version where you drive and b-spec name would be the version where the AI drives.
Also the not braking and turning in GT4 I assume was because you kept the driving assists on. GT4 was the first GT where assists where standard and not something you had to buy in the tuning shop.
Hope I could shed some more light onto things ❤

      @caifabe8050 Před 5 měsíci

GT3 was the first one where the assists were there by default, not GT4. it's just that the effects of the assists are much worse in GT4.

Driving assists in GT4 really kills any momentum. Especially the ASM modes.
TCS on low setting is fine for some cars, especially on group C / LMP cars with lightweight construction, massive horsepower and rear-wheel drive.

@@Skarfar90 ASM can go fuck itself in ANY racing game tbh lmao
my standard assist setup in GT4 is ASM completely disabled and TCS at 1 and that's perfect for me

I can say that my love for cars came through the early racing games on the Playstation.
Starting with games like Ridge Racer, before moving on to other titles like Test Drive, and finally Gran Turismo.
Now, Gran Turismo really made me appreciate Japanese cars a lot more, considering that I grew up with VW buses, Volvo 240's and various Mercedes E-classes - Although I do drive a German made car today, I still dream about someday owning a JDM legend of my own - Most notably the Toyota Supra or the Mitsubishi 3000 GT. Now I have owned a 1994 Mitsubishi Lancer (Mirage based), though not an Evo, it was an amazing car. Sadly, the gearbox blew on it.
Anyways. I do owe a lot of my love for cars to Gran Turismo. - Now, unlike you, I did start out with the first game (and I never owned GT2). Despite being relatively short and easy to finish, I still enjoyed it a lot, and I still do to this day, running hot laps with stock vs. tuned cars around various tracks. Duckstation + 60 fps re-ignited my interest in the game.
I also played a lot of GT3 and GT4 back on the PS2. And much like you, I never ventured beyond GT4, and I didn't touch any of the games that came after. I didn't own a PS3, PS4 or PS5 either.
I did enjoy GT3 more than GT4, but then again, 4 was packed to the brim with content and cars. So many cool models to choose from, but the driving model centered around simulation was not particularly good for us who used controllers. Something the older titles were much better catered to. Now, I have found some love for the game again, with the help of mods. The GT community is pretty awesome in that regard.
I did move on to Forza after GT4, having played pretty much every mainline game in the series, aside from the newest Motorsport, and the original one for the classic Xbox. And coming from the "arcade generation", I absolutely love the driving model in the Horizon games - which feels more arcade than simulation (though options for sim-oriented physics are in place).
And considering that Forza is available on PC, it is pretty much the best option for newer racing games, that isn't too sim-focused in their driving models, and that also works well with a standard game controller.

That's a lot to take in, but I'll try to sort through it for my response:
-I'd love to own any car that's relatively sporty, not just a JDM car (since everyone and their dog knows about JDM cars; their prices reflect that). Also, sorry to hear about the gearbox failure! :(
-I share the same sentiment with you about GT4; there's a lot there, but its handling on gamepad and other sim things (fuel, tire wear) keeps me from fully enjoying it, even with the control and camera patches.
-Forza Horizon 4 was my first Horizon, and it was pretty good for the most part. I played FH5 for a couple years but it bored me to death, so I quit it. And hearing what's happened with the new Motorsport, I don't think I'll be playing a new Forza game (or even a new Xbox game) for a long time. Still looking for that racing game itch to scratch!
