Thanks for watching! 🤍
For the life of me I can't figure out why people keep saying he had a superiority complex. He was actually quite stoic and thoughtful, quiet and watchful, humble and compassionate. Even in his "insanity", he's still a soldier, sworn to duty, and how he interprets it is he's the one to save the planet from humans. Thats his duty to the planet. Crisis Core has him literally telling Genesis that him wanting to be a hero is petty, that he could have the title. Sephiroth never cared about being better than anyone else, in fact all he ever said he wanted was a normal life. He knew he was different, special, but he never said "better". Don't forget that the real Sephiroth is in the northern crater, the many sightings of Sephiroth's form is Jenova. Anyway, unless I've missed something I don't see how Sephiroth has a superiority complex. Maybe I have it wrong, who knows. Other than that the video was phenomenal ❤❤❤ really enjoyed this
I get what you're saying. I look at it from a different perspective. You never know someone fully deep down until situations get dire, or revelations change. So while Sephiroth may have had those positive traits early on, its not like the negative ones weren't there, they were just either suppressed or very minimal in some way shape of form. Sort of how Anakin was always Vader in some capacity, but it took catastrophes or revelations to get there. In this case, We get Sephiroth a character who has those positive traits you mentioned before, but it took a revelation for him to say "I'm better than you all".
@@ArtcadeShow oooo yes I can appreciate your take indeed. However, unless I've missed something I don't ever see the real Sephiroth ever mentioning or expressing this. Or even acting like he believes this. In the reactor in front of Jenova is the closest I remember him ever expressing anything close to this, all he says is essentially he has a duty to mother and the planet and the humans are the problem and must be eliminated. We can speculate about what lies underneath the real Sephiroth's exterior, but that's all we have is speculation. I can't think of one time he exhibits a feeling of superiority in his character. But again, I'm no expert and I could be dead wrong lol. Either way, the story is incredible and is expertly written so that we can have these interpretations. Thank you so much for the video, I learned alot and hope you continue as these are fun watches. Hugs to you🤗
It happened when he fell into madness, and the personality of Jenova came out taking control of him....then,the negative traits (that we all normally own, hidden among the complexes and controlled by the active consciousness) came out to be manipulated and used by Jenova...Don't forget that One of the meaning of the game Sephiroth Is "extension",and,Indeed,he became the active extension of Jenova....the fusion between his broken and twisted personality and the Will of Jenova Is what we actually see
@@federicamacchia1656 I realize alot of this is coming from a place of me desperately wanting a character arc for Sephy, where he's finally free from Jenova. You all make a lot of sense I admit. Would Sephiroth be the villian without Jenova's influence? Is he destined to remain in this role? Will he be able to change this destiny now that hes in control of it? I have so many questions! I guess I'm one of those "I can fix him" kinda girls lmao jk. I still don't see the man Sephiroth having a superiority complex, but I can see this aspect in Jenova and her influence on him. Anyway, I enjoyed this, thank you guys for the info😊🤗
The trilogy we are playing, the Remake,Will be a sort of definitive closure of all characters's story,so the devs say.If you listen carefully what they are telling us during the interview, you'll find many elements that can help you ti find answers to all your questions. They are showing us with particolar attention and love the character of Sephiroth, they make us know and empatize with him Because they want that we really understand how much Justice Sephiroth deserves.Because to be the antagonist doesn't necessarily mean to be the enemy and the ultimate evil we have to fight.Be sure that, this time,in this remake,Sephiroth Will have Justice...and we Will fight, finally, the true enemy
You are one of the very few who analyzed sephiroth and was able to connect him to Kojiro. Even sword tube channels would try to analyze if the Masamune can be weilded without even taking into consideration that Sephiroth was based on Kojiro and his washer man's pole nodachi. Never mind that Kojiro might not even be real but when you are going to analyze a character and his weapon at least know his lore. Thank you for the nice video.
Love the quality. Great work 🫡
Great video, hope to see you grow
Commenting for the algorithm. Love your videos man you deserve alot more attention wish you the best
W video man. Love your style dude.
Always a pleasure my friend !!
Would love to see one for kratos
Nice
Nice video. Would be awesome if you could do a video about a soulsborne game!
Advent Children’s director is Tetsuya Nomura not Kitase. Kitase did produce it though.
Right! Thanks for correcting that, meant to say Nomura.
What song is at 10:16 (Chapter 3)?
Kingdom Hearts 3: Scala Ad Caelum
@ArtcadeShow Tysm! This was an amazing analysis btw!!!
Fun Fact: back in the day George Newbern did a movie about a dinosaur that was a cop working alongside Whoopi Goldberg's character, that movie was Theodore Rex and it's one of the most terrible movies I have ever seen 😂😂😂
But finding out it was the George Newbern, the man who voiced Sephiroth after Kingdom Hearts 1 miscast with Lance Bass and the dude who plays Mevyn Nooj in Final Fantasy X-2
I genuinely should have put this in the video… haha
10:25 fact
Just how tall is Sephiroth exactly? He's supposed to be 6 foot 1 which isn't that tall (it's the same height as me), but at times he looks closer to 7 foot!
Bro had to flex that he’s tall real quick lol
i think he’s around 6’7 in the remakes

Love your vids bro
You seem like an aspiring video essayist, so I guess I'll drop my two cents about the video. At first, it seemed well-structured and well-researched with you talking about the connection between ancient samurai and the Sephiroth/Cloud rivalry, as well as the broad ideological theme underlying the connection... But then the video seems to devolve into just reciting random facts about Sephiroth. You mention his sword, the inspiration behind the name, and the notion that it's a crucial part of his characterization... Okay? But what point are you trying to make here? Why bring the sword up at all? What would the video lose without it? And the second section is in a similar vein. It's titled "Characterization" but you mostly just keep reciting trivia about Sephiroth's development. What point are you trying to make here? Would your narrative lose anything without going over the voice actors? And this section doesn't really go over his actual characterization in the story, i.e., the actions that define his character. You just gave a brief synopsis of this in the first section, and then briefly mention the themes of the character in the final section. Wouldn't it be better if you dedicated the meat of the video to actually talking about how these themes manifest themselves in the story through what the character does? Not reciting the plot, but thinking about how his specific actions fit into the ideas of his character and the the story.
Also, a few petty complaints about wording:
- "level-headed person with a superiority complex" is a bit of an oxymoron, don't you think?
- repeating the same wording several times in a short timespan ("force of nature" in this case) always makes it look like the creator is running out of things to say
Don't take this personally and don't feel down from my criticism, especially since you yourself mention struggling with this video. I advise you to just be mindful about how you structure your essay and always ask yourself what is the overall point of the section and whether you supported it well with the examples or reasons you give. If something seems like it doesn't have anything to do with the point, maybe put it in a separate place or cut it altogether. Okay, I'm gonna stop more before I start sounding even more like a college professor. I'm sure that with enough practice, writing video essays will become easier and you will get the hang of them.
Thank you! I appreciate the criticism!
I meant to give a full reply earlier! Few things I do want to add. I very much do appreciate all of your criticisms (esp with the wording, I'll work on that) For these videos, I wouldn't necessarily say that they are conventional video essays, where I throw in my two cents about the character etc or give you story exposition. I may do that from time to time, but this is very much a quick fire "Did you Know?" kind of vibe, with the conception of the characters, developer interviews and other aspects of the character that the viewer may not have known. As far as pacing etc it's more of a bite size, in your face kind of thing. I'm not looking to sit down and have you all watch a 40 minute video about the character that goes in depth about the characters goals and limits. It may not be your vibe, and that's cool! That's just not what this channel is, with that being said, I will definitely take your criticism into to improve for the next few videos, thanks for watching
