People pick the most obscure and useless majors to get into Ivy leagues. After that, she can do a masters at pretty much any school and the fact that she went to Stanford will make her a shoe-in for any interview (doesn't matter too much if she did French or Mechanical Engineering) unless it's an incredibly technical role. Also she could switch from French to something eklse.

I have never thought that Sorkin dialogue sounded particularly realistic, but wouldn't it be nice if everyone was impeccably witty with perfect timing?
