      I love how dirt bike converted supermotos are RAW af and wild. Out of the box street bikes are super refined and you have to mod it to remove the emissions crap on it.

      @@CycleCruza Yes, when riding a street legal dirt bike, it always feels "forbidden" and "illegal"; like you can't help but feeling like a hooligan even when riding normally. I love it when I ride by some dudes standing out in a yard and they all look at me on my bike with that look on their face like "Man, I wish that was me right now." lol

    If lived in the US and I was to get a sumo, I'd get a used WR250X or a KLX300SM if I wanted to get a bike already in SM trim. On the other hand, if I was to build a bike, you've convinced me to get a YZ450FX. It's just amazing how it combines power and reliability. The DRZ might be a tank in terms of reliability, but it's heavy, outdated, and ugly, which would make me get a smaller and more economic 250/300 or a more powerful 450 such as the YZ FX.

      Had a z400 4wheeler which I believe is the same motor, did pipe jet and filter on it, and it would hang with a raptor (660) until top end. Stock the raptor would pull away.

I used a cheapo jracing 25buck front light assembly and tossed the halogen bulb and used an ama zon 17buck DAYWALKER H4 LED White 6000k Car headlamp. It works great I rode for a few hours with it last weekend. I have the tusk kit you recommended, and also the seat concepts comfort XL which is awesome!!!

    at this moment only problems im having are i ripped the kill switch button off with a crash and my starter likes to work only when it feels like it thank goodness my early model came with a kickstart as she starts literally almost first kick always even when hot

    It's been fun and inspiring watching you build and run the supermoto. If I do one I'll probably follow this kind of built. Could your wireless engine pack be drawing power transmitting constantly? A higher capacity generator couldn't hurt. Good summary video.

  • @Firestorm637

    I grew up with 2 strokes in the 1970’s! Twice the power of 4 strokes per cc with all the torque and horsepower at one time(50% less parts). That sound and smell of the INTERNAL combustion engine(ICE). I rode a new 2022 YZ 250 and your YZ 450 fX. I bought the YZ 250 over your YZ 450 FX and made it street legal in my state. That same power as the 450 FX but lighter and much less vibration if at all from the engine. Easy maintenance, no valves, no cams, no cam chains, etc. Cheap replacement piston every 50-100 hours. Takes an hour to replace with simple tools. Both the 4 stroke and 2 stroke piston take a beating with all that horsepower and only one cylinder. The 2 stroke much better in the dirt as not so top heavy and the feeling of the extra mass inertia from the cams/valves/cam chains. Single cylinder bikes offer the roughest street rides cuz of the single cylinder balance problems. Again, the 2 stroke is smoother but the power delivery is more abrupt and somewhat peaky but it’s the perfect wheelie machine/stunt bike. Glad Yamaha still offering 2 strokes as they seem to be coming back. I carry 4 ounces of oil premix with me for the gas station. KTM offers oil injection and fuel injection on their 2 strokes. I grew up with carburetors. Very rarely any problems as long as you use clean fresh gas and empty the float bowl if going to store for awhile. Carburetors Very simple to work on. 2 stroke ultimate apocalyptic bike as all analog not digital for the most part. Love the tinny engine and almost 14 inches ground clearance.

    • @Firestorm637
      @Firestorm637 Před 2 lety

      2 strokes have make power every one revolution of crank vs 2 crank revolutions for 4 stroke. 2 strokes twice the power. 250 cc 2 stroke same power as 450 cc 4 stroke and lighter at same time.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  Před 2 lety +2

      You will know when your valves are out of spec, the bike will have trouble starting is the first sign. My bike starts lightening fast and runs better now than it did brand new. Yamaha valves are well known for not going out of spec, countless youtube videos show this. As stated years ago, this is an an experiment I'm doing to see if I can get by with just basic maintenance such as oil changes, air filter change and chain maintenance. That's all I have done so far and this bike has amazed me. Imo, Yamaha dirt bikes are #1 most reliable dirt bikes you can buy.

    • @DRZWhisperer
      @DRZWhisperer Před 2 lety

      @@CycleCruza the bike will start fine until you run out of valve clearance which means no clearance. By that time your titanium valves will be so worn that you will have to replace them. That's an expensive bill. There's a huge difference between valves out of spec and valves with no clearance. I've seen it all. The old school early Genesis heads were outfitted with steel valves that wear evenly with the valve seat unlike the titanium valves of the next generation 426 and subsequent 450 models however some people have opted for stronger springs which yes cause a little bit more effort on the valve train to compress, but the reward is even wear. The valves will wear even more when it is in a lean condition. Do you know if you are running lean? What is your air fuel ratio? What does your spark plug look like? Have you changed it? I will give you this I believe you that you change your oil often which is a lot better than some of the bikes that I end up with. I have a row of valves on my wall to show people why we check valve clearances and do it frequently. I've been in a lot of engines and I kind of know what I'm talking about. I still like your content because you are entertaining and I hope that you don't have to learn an expensive lesson and have an effed up day!

      @@adamgentry332 and just to clarify using that mindset of the bike will tell you when the valves need adjusted, you are letting them get so far out of spec that they are worn down to having a large lip on the valve instead of making small adjustments over time like you are supposed to. People just do not listen because they don't understand what is going on. You don't learn your lesson until you do, then you will cry about it because your valve breaks and you say I don't know why this happened I adjusted the valves (in sad voice) but you adjusted them 100 hours too late or more.
