Fun fact. 4:22 The Soviet Band was probably quite experienced in playing the French Anthem. It was one of the key ''Revolutionary Songs'' that were taught at most musical schools in Russia at that time.
In fact, Marseillaise was also the Anthem of Soviet Russia in the first months after the October Revolution. It was replaced in 1918 by the Internationale and in 1944 by the modern Soviet Anthem we all know and love (some people hate it, but this is temporary, lol)

With the first two clips you can just hear the different sound in instrument quality… Quite amazing actually bc I never really thought about how the quality of a countries instruments can shape how we hear them performing their national anthem compared to them performing another countries anthem…

I love how the Chinese play the absolute pitch perfect version of the Soviet National Anthem to the Russian Delegation- it’s so beautiful, perfect, and yet salty. It’s the perfect National Hymn, and while they brought it back - they never “rehabilitated” it to its former glory with those background trumpets and horns on the offbeats

The Germans also learn others and even if they don't, they practise it a few times before the state reception.
A good music company/honourary company should be able to play another national anthem quite quickly.
If anyone is interested in German state receptions or the military as a whole and the protocol, I can recommend the channel here.
