I am 36 years old and cant find anyone who i know that has heard of October Project....i heard them for 10 seconds and fell in love....makes me feels unique in a way...so beautiful on the ears....
A friend gave me their CD at my old job. Powerful stuff like this will never get big. But at least it can be found. I'm 41 and I never saw this on MTV.
Played this at my wedding in '94. Every time I listen to this song it reminds of a time when I fell in love with my wife of 30 years (and counting). . This song, and album, means more to me than any other.
Likewise. My mom would always play this sorta new age celtic folky stuff growing up and I kinda hated it after a while, but now I sort of dig it. It's nice.
Good afternoon, Mr. Morris. I am sorry about your wife's death. You clearly have found memories of her for a beautiful melody like this to remind you of her. May God bless you and comfort you at this time
Six years have passed, I am sure the pain is still with you in some form. I hope she returns to you in another life! I have loved this song for a long time.
I remember this song 30 years ago. I had an ex who was my current at the time. We had a May December relationship and I had to move and it was dedicated to me. Many things have happened in my life in those 30 years but if I hear this song I can smell the smells and see everything like it was yesterday. This is one of the greatest albums I've ever heard I still own the CD I can listen to it front to back. My life would be less never having heard this music.
Hi Jackie, this group had trouble finding a home on radio. I saw them in Boston. I have seen over 300 groups. This was the best concert I have ever seen. It was so beautiful..
Good afternoon, Ms. Life. I agree. I was smitten with this song the very first time that I heard it in 1994, while waiting for The Bridges of Madison County, to start, at a movie theater.
I have! Been to see them twice. Love their music & Mary Fahl. In ‘97 I just moved into my new place and knew no neighbors. I played OP while moving in and to my surprise I started hearing the exact same song “Ariel” playing but now it was much louder. Went to turn the volume down and realized it wasnt coming from my stereo. Come to find out my neighbors loved OP also and decided to introduce themselves by playing the same song & same CD but cranked the volume up. About halfway through “Ariel” they came over and said “Hello”. All of us were surprised the other knew of OP. About 3 years later their 1st daughter was born, Ariel. We are still neighbors 24 years later and Ariel is now in college. Out of the blue I asked if she had ever asked her mom & dad where they got her name from. I knew but she said “no”. I told her to go ask her mom & dad. Not 10 minutes later I heard OP (Ariel) playing fairly loud on her car stereo while she began washing her car. About half way thru I cranked my stereo up also playing Ariel. We both let the entire CD play thru. Thru OP I met some of the best neighbors anyone could ever ask for. Thanks October Project!!
Can't you just feel her passion? When she sings, she hugs the wind and the rain. She hugs the sound (the passion, the emotion) into herself and then releases it...
You rise like a wave in the ocean And you fall gently back to the sea Now I want to know how to hold you Return to me You shine like the moon over water And you darken the sky when you leave Now I want to know how to keep you Return to me Turn to me Everything I tell you has been spoken And everything I say was said before But everything I feel is for the first time And everything I feel, I feel for you I am here calling the wind I am here calling your name I am here calling you back Return to me I know what it means to be lonely And I know what it means to be free Now I want to know how to love you Return to me I am here calling the wind I am here calling your name I am here calling you back Return to me I am here Return to me
Mary Fahls voice is an instrument itself. I wish I could have seen Mary singing TAKE ME AS I AM and BE MY HERO, that would be something. But Sony blew the group & Mary away because of money instead of talent. I wish Mary great success she deserves it!!
I heard this song in the Movie Blown Away 94' Really a nice song. actually the best way to go back in time is to watch old 80's & 90's movies unless a scientist makes a time machine! Really love & miss those lovely days! Sad to say there would never be an era just like the 80's & 90's. Really love this song!!
I wholeheartedly agree. Those times were truly special in ways far beyond nostalgic memories alone; even though I was 16 or 17 when this song was released. There was some kind of magic in the air. Most who experienced it remember, and as artists, we certainly connected with it.
I'm guesisng a lot of people first heard the song in Blown Away. Otherwise I would never have heard of October Project. I don't know why, it's such a beautiful track. It;s a good movie too if you can ignore certain Irish accents.
I have. My wife and I saw them in Boston. I have seen over 100 concerts. Their show was the best show I ever saw. It was like listening to the CD They were Perfect!!!!
Absolutely beautiful. I can remember seeing this video on MTV, back when they showed them. I was mesmerized then, and remain so now. My heart melts at the beauty and richness of her voice.
This song is definitely one of the reasons you would want to watch Blown Away again, besides the movie being very good, and besides Tommy Lee Jones, and besides father & son Bridges...!
Most definitely a song that'll stand the test of time. Classic from the first time I heard it. Now the words fit my life to the tee right now. yes, spiritual.
I attended Mary's performance at the New Hope Winery on the 6th. October 2012. She was superb. Such a big and magnificent voice for such a petite lady. One of a kind band and One of a kind song. Brings back a lot of memories, growing up in Trinidad and Tobago. This song was used as part of the sound track of a movie called Blown Away, great movie and this song made it even better. Wish I can find their albums more easily.

I just came back to listen to this song again,My God what a beautiful song this is! Very,VERY beautiful voice, dont think I've ever heard a voice quite like this! I could listen to this song all day long! Great video also, very touching, you can absolutely feel the emotion pouring from this song and video..love it!! Great job!!
martindx1961 Good for you. I got hooked on this band when their first album came out and I had never heard a voice like Mary's before or since. I've a comment further on that links to her channel here. She is still performing and still as amazing as ever. What this group put together is timeless. It was very powerful, emotive music that had a very soothing, healing quality to it. This is a beautiful song and if you explore a little you'll find that their other songs were just as lovely.
Robert LaPrise I wound up w/ a cassette tape of the October Project's first release because this was the first collection of their music I found. I heard her voice in the 90's and was utterly transfixed. Lost all my CDs and still haven't found OctP, but still want their CDs. I've never heard a voice like hers. She is an original.
The original October Project and Falling Farther In are still available on Amazon. I listen to them both end to end repeatedly every fall - it just seems the perfect time of year for their music. The other OctP albums are just not the same without Mary's haunting vocals.
My favorite video of all times. The horse walking through water, the cave, the ocean and that voice that wonderful voice of Mary Fahl. It drew me in and accompanied me in CD format all over the world.
I have been remembering part of this song, playing on my head for many years and today finally found it!!!! Speciallly hard for me because English is not my mother tongue. I LOVE THIS SONG! Right to favorites!!!!!
+Amanda Laggan I agree......I can't stop listening to her, and the other young lady just makes it that much better....especially on the tune "bury my lovely"
Have been listening to them since the early eighties, brought me through some great times, and not so great times. Amazing artists! It's a wonderful gift to be able to see these videos! Thank you. First time that I noticed this, at the end of the video there is a man walking away.
I haven't heard this song since 1994! I had the melody stuck in my head today for some reason. Couldn't remember the lyrics though. I finally remembered the chorus. Hearing it now in my mid 30's hits me in such a different way than it did at 14. So much nostalgia!
When I first heard her voice it melted my heart. The voice of an angel. Not many singers or songs touch me like listening to her sing. I have this cd and listen to it all the time.
I think this song reflects the state of a person who have lost someone special to SUICIDE. The reason is the part where the song says I known its lonely and the I know how it feels to be free. The final clue is when the person actually passes the woman without acknowledging her meaning the person commited suicide without reflecting on loved ones. Stay strong people.
When blown away the movie showing at cinema 21 ,i watched that movie with my girlfriend on 1994 ,i bought the cassette theres return to me, with or without you n else,i love u livi yunita
All of you here, you're my people. Someone wrote they can't find anyone under 36 who knows October Project. Well that was 9 years so you are 45 now like me. Wish we met. I would love to meet other OP fans. Guaranteed we have other bands we love who no one else knows.
I used to keep a recording of Blown Away paused at this song so I could play it easily anytime. I never heard it any where else before or since. That was before I had access to the musical wealth on You Tube of course.
My cousin died almost 2 months ago I’m still trying to come to terms with him not being here, he was more than a cousin he was my best friend, big brother and protector I find myself missing him so much that the past few weeks is like a dream...his death has surly been a shadow over the entire family. This song whispers our/my greatest wish #returntome😢
I heard this song once or twice when I was 16 or 17. Seventeen years later, it never really left me. Also glad to have found it on youtube, thanks for posting it, I'll keep coming back :)
Today is 13th November 2020 and this is the first I have heard of this band. Where have you been all my life. Absolutely fantastic. I have lots of listening to do.
October Project made a huge impact on the 1990s. I am now 54y old and visit from time to time in hopes of recapturing moments of my silly youth…. ❤ I choose Jesus everyday…
Muy bellas interpretaciones, conocí esta música cuando falleció mi padre (mi viejito q lo adoraba) y me lo recuerda una y otra vez. Te amo viejo, dónde te encuentres sé q estás mejor. 💙❤️🌷
I love Mary Fahl (have seen her in concert many times), and I love October Project with Marina, Emil and Julie (same), but when they all performed together it was absolute magic.
I am 36 years old and cant find anyone who i know that has heard of October Project....i heard them for 10 seconds and fell in love....makes me feels unique in a way...so beautiful on the ears....
So you see I'm 63 and fell in love with them 30 years ago
I am hear i know them as well as a child.
I feel in love at 36 when i heard them for 10sec. Im 38 now.
I bought their CD album 30 yrs ago

The 90's. The last great decade of music...
The was some great alternative rock up to 2007
Played this at my wedding in '94. Every time I listen to this song it reminds of a time when I fell in love with my wife of 30 years (and counting). . This song, and album, means more to me than any other.
The movie, Blown Away brought me here. Very Beautiful indeed.
Likewise. My mom would always play this sorta new age celtic folky stuff growing up and I kinda hated it after a while, but now I sort of dig it. It's nice.
Same! Then when I saw the album cover I remembered my dad had the cassette when I was a kid.
U and me Both 👍
Same here. Saw that movie many years ago and instantly became a fan of this song.

The best vocal group I've never heard of. She has an amazing voice.
Is Mary Fahl singing no this song?
@@EstadodeSitioOficial Yes, she is the lead singer on the first two albums (this is from the first, which is self-titled)
Yes. Her voice casts a spell.

@@rubensperez294 cuando Mary Fhal se salió de la banda, de alli en adelante no han sacado cosas buenas.

Good morning this is what I call music comfort to the soul
@Earl James October Project Return To Me is one of my favorite song
I have loved this song since it came out. Now I listen to it all the time, and think of my wife, who passed away not long ago.
Good afternoon, Mr. Morris. I am sorry about your wife's death. You clearly have found memories of her for a beautiful melody like this to remind you of her. May God bless you and comfort you at this time

Oh that voice, an instrument in itself. Mary Fahl is one of the best singers on earth.
One of the most beautiful songs I've heard. I'm 50 and bought the CD when it came out. It's like the sound of my soul. Thank God for it
I performed this song with Mary Fahl a few years ago in a show we did together. She has the Voice of an Angel :)
:)
:)

Two word.... Real Music!!
finally found it after years of searching
Im 61 & never heard of them. A friend sent me this song to help calm down. Reminds me of the ancient Celtics.
This continues to be an everlasting and haunting melody that will stand against the time.
I can't believe it's been more than 20 years since I heard this. The beautiful & shy voice of the 90s: October Project.
Tienes razon. Yo tambien.
Man, I would hardly describe Mary Fahl's powerful voice as "shy," but I still feel you.
20 yrs fabulous. I found this song not by accident a gift from my GOD JUST 2 YRZ AGO
What happened to them? The most unique group in decades. Where did October Project go?
Good afternoon, Ms. Life. I agree. I was smitten with this song the very first time that I heard it in 1994, while waiting for The Bridges of Madison County, to start, at a movie theater.
My friend danced to this song and I fell in love with this song, her voice, the music, the message...what a beautiful song
How am I supposed to listen to this and not cry? I think of my true self when I listen. Return to me... Such a lovely song.

Marys voice is so beautiful, it flows over you absolutely gorgeous.
This women's voice, Mary F, is an unbelievable tone and so beautiful, no other modern sing uses her voice in quite this way. 🥰

You rise like a wave in the ocean
And you fall gently back to the sea
Now I want to know how to hold you
Return to me
You shine like the moon over water
And you darken the sky when you leave
Now I want to know how to keep you
Return to me
Turn to me
Everything I tell you has been spoken
And everything I say was said before
But everything I feel is for the first time
And everything I feel, I feel for you
I am here calling the wind
I am here calling your name
I am here calling you back
Return to me
I know what it means to be lonely
And I know what it means to be free
Now I want to know how to love you
Return to me
I am here calling the wind
I am here calling your name
I am here calling you back
Return to me
I am here
Return to me
Thanks!
