Terry Bradshaw was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1970 NFL Draft and he definitely lived up to the hype. He is one of only 13 overall first picks to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and he definitely earned his Gold Jacket.
Bradshaw was at the helm for the Steelers as a rookie, starting eight games and then continuing to be the driving force behind the success of the Steelers' offense.
Bradshaw led the team to four Super Bowl championships, being named MVP in Super Bowl XIII and XIV. He passed for 932 yards and nine touchdowns in the four Super Bowl victories and in 19 postseason games passed for 3,833 yards. He was also named the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 1978 when he completed 207 passes for 2,915 yards and 28 touchdowns.
The 'blonde bomber' as he was known finished his career completing 2,025 passes for 27,989 yards and 212 touchdowns.
As Bradshaw stood on the steps of the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, he reflected on how he ended up there, and those who helped him along the way.
"When I got the phone call -- those of you that know me know I'm not a man that hides his emotions well - I went nuts," Bradshaw told the crowd filled with Steelers fans. "I went crazy, which I already am anyway. I jumped around, I ran around the house, outside! I just lost it for three days. I said, 'I can't believe this!' And then I stopped and I said, what does it mean? What does all of this mean? It means that yeah, you're one of the best that ever played? I said, no. Wait just a second. Wait just a second. What it means is that in football you never get anything that you don't share with people. You don't get elected into the Hall of Fame by yourself."

As a Rams fan I was bummed when we lost to the Steelers but how can you not like Terry Bradshaw and the rest of the team, Legends.
Terry Bradshaw was not only a great QB,..he was a great overall athlete!
Myron Cope said one year Bradshaw lost some weight in the off season and when he came to camp he was the fastest guy on the team!
The Steelers were a horrible team until Terry and his teammates got there. This man was made fun of and so disrespected but all he did was win. Then he got on this stage of great football players and gave this speech. Great work!

What a great speech. Selfless. Thanks his entire offense, one by one, number by number, position by position for assisting with getting him inducted. This should be the model speech for future HOFs to not make the speech all about yourself. I get it, you're their because of your amazing abilities and you thank the obvious folks...former coaches, family, etc. But Terry went the extra mile here. Awesome.

And I must emphasize-“HE CALLED HIS OWN PLAYS.” Nobody but nobody called his OWN plays, but Terry.
Actually, most NFL QBs called their own plays in the 60s and 70s.
Most Qbs in that era called their own plays. lol

Staubach didn’t call his own plays. Landry called the plays.
@@sandranorman5469 yes Roger called his own plays at first but Coach took over play calling after Rogers father died. Coach wanted to take some of the pressure off of him
The Steelers need a wing of the hall just for the 70s team alone
It was fun being a Steelers fan going in Pittsburgh from the beginning of the dynasty.. they went from laughingstock to the point where, I knew they were going to win every game. I remember the time when they went 52 and 2 in their conference.. and that was back when football was a rough game.. Head slabs, defense of backs roughing up receivers all the way down the field. Mel Blount used to mug receivers on his side of the field trying to get open.. they actually passed a rule because of Mel Blount coverage on receivers..
I was watching Monday night football and Howard Cosell was commentating on the game but the Steelers were getting beat. Howard sadly said, we are witnessing the end of the greatest football team ever assembled

Terry was the most underrated qbs of all time but as a cowboys fan in big time games he was the best ever played to my book he should be one of the best ever
Some talk on here about how Bradshaw compares to some of the modern QBs. I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I'll say this. Terry played under conditions that frankly I'm not sure the modern guys could make it through. The NFL of today is a cakewalk compared to the 1970$.

Terry is living proof that championships don't mean everything and most football expertise he's not even one of the top 10 quarterbacks all time but yet he has four rings if you judge goat status on championship rings alone then you're telling me that Trent dilford is better than Dan Marino or Troy Aikman was better than Aaron Rodgers just because Brady's got more rings than Peyton Manning or Joe Montana doesn't make him the goat it makes him more accomplished. I'm 61 years old I've seen a lot of great quarterbacks come and go and have never seen anyone play the position like Peyton Manning and if Dan Marino would have just won one Super Bowl he would be a top five all time.
A lot of great ones, for sure. Judge the era, not a stat sheet. Watching him beat the great Oakland and Dallas teams- multiple times- that’s a special category. QBs got hit then, hard. He was the toughest, and the man was a fierce competitor. From the smallest of schools to a true, true champion. Thank you Terry.
Yes, but Bradshaw didn't just get lucky and win one Superbowl. He won 4. Two of which he was the MVP!
You have to judge players by the era they played. You can't judge a QB playing today against a QB from the 70's. There's been so many rule changes over the years that favor the offense. Every 70's QB would improve statistically under the new rules.

Statistically speaking, Bradshaw’s TD-INT ratio wasn’t really that great. He even admits that. But stats are overrated, right?
Him and Chuck Noll butted heads quite often, which explains why Terry chose Verne Lundquist as his presenter. Bradshaw said that had The Chief been alive to see this day, he would have had him as his presenter.
One thing was for sure - Terry Bradshaw was great when he had to be.

Played against some of the meanest, toughest defences ever in big games back when now-illegal hits were normal and routine and managed to win them all.
Why is he the best big-game QB of all time? Because he played against teams that were loaded with talent, teams that won EVERY year (not the flash-in-the-pan teams of the 2000's) or the horrible AFC teams of the 80's and early 90's who were embarrassed in 15 of 16 Super Bowls from 1982 till 1996.
Here a short list of teams he beat (for those who don't yet know.)
Beat Minnesota's Purple-People Eaters with lots of help from the Steel Curtain in Bowl 9 after beating the powerful Hall of Fame filled Roster of the Oakland Raiders in Oakland.
Beat The Doomsday Defence along with Hall of fame filled Roster of that Cowboys Team in Bowl 10 after surviving a brutal Raider rematch.
Beat The Doomsday Defence along with Hall of fame filled defending SB Champion Dallas Team in Bowl 13 after crushing Denver's Orange Crush Defence and the Oilers.
Beat the Swarming Defence of perennial West Champ LA Rams to win Bowl nr 14
A characteristic of modern Super Bowls is the "vanishing act" that one or both participants make the following year even as Play-Off contenders (If they aren't Brady led)
and these include ALL the teams that the Patriots have beaten the year following each respective Championship game.
