A friend called me from the UK saying her friend would do well with my audience. I rarely put artists up without seeing them in person first but I took her enthusiasm to heart and said "what the heck!". Ed Sheeran arrived in LA, we drove around, I showed him the sights and he MURDERED every stage we got him on! - Komedie
am i the only one who came here after i saw the jamie fox intwrview
Kevin Robin me too
Me too
Kevin Robin Same! Now I see what he meant lol
This is not the one Jamie Fox was talking about
He was playing all over LA at the time for about a month, he played here in Englewood before he played at the Fox(something) which is where Jamie's story happened.
"let's see what the kid has"
Jamie Foxx is the best storyteller
this is it !!!!! i finally found it !!😂
Jaime foxx indeed
.
Jamie foxx
@@theghost9409 I don’t think so
19 years old and had been in the states for about a week and walks into a predominantly black audience in friggen Englewood California and sets it on fire.
bob melan inglewood*
Hell with standing ovation, I’m happy he survived. It is hard to imagine a whiter dude
@@sblack48 this comment made my day. I needed to smile and giggle 😂✌💚 I love Ed and never saw this before today. Its April 13, 2021. Yes Corona is still here and thank God we have Ed! And videos like this! Seriously 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
😂😂 he’s from London where it’s full of blacks and other races . Ed been famous way before this loooool
He’s English mate, we’re a very diverse country.
We were in the little audience that night up at the front, it was pretty cool. Spoke to Ed afterwards and he was friendly and humble, so we bought a couple of his homemade CDs. Still can't believe he became a huge star.
Was it really that odd seeing him in that podium as jamie says?
So cool, man. Totally (slightly) jealous.
This performance shows that he had the talent and musical flow to reach the very top. He deserves all of the fame he has. Incredible performance.
Cherish that cd for sure and realize that you were there in the beginning before he got extra famous.
Dam those cds would have to be worth something cherish those
I'm here because I've just watched Jamie Fox on the Graham Norton show sharing the story of Ed Sheeran coming on stage with a Ukelele.
its a small 6 string guitar not an actual ukelele
@@veronicam2935 going by Jamie fox's story... It's a ukelele. But your observations are correct.
🙋🏽♂️

Thankyou Jamie Foxx. He is the one who let Ed sheeran sleep on his couch and fed him.
oh wow did he actually
this was before Ed met Jamie, but he was invited to perform at the Foxxhole not that long afterwards. Ed never played the ukulele or slept on Jamie's couch in his recording studio for 6 weeks, it was less than week. Jamie is a storyteller and embellished his story, or maybe forgot details since was in 2010 lol
Thank god somebody decided to record this seminal moment.
i think u mean sentimental💀💀
@@howdyhorses61 I think he meant seminal

Nah. They meant seminal.
@@howdyhorses61 haha nice try
I havent seen this but when I heard Jamie foxx's story. I felt in my gut that this was the song that he'd play to have that swagger around these extremely talented musicians
This is not the one Jamie Foxx was talking about
@@GodBlade132 he means he thinks this is the song he probably played
@@GodBlade132 whiche one is
He said it was a ukulele tho
@@CSGhostAnimation oh hey it's you!
i can just imagine the face of the people who were at this when he broke the charts like he did. They would be like "wait.... it cant be?? the ginger English kid we saw??" haha...love it!
I had that experience with Passenger. Saw him on the streets 2 years before Let it Go became huge
He just basically turned the entire room into a party hahah love it!
The power to just work the crowd and creating this collaborative environment for everybody around him is just insane
Definitely a "You had to be there" moment.
The first time I heard Ed Sheeran I immediately said to mt wife: "this kid is the real deal, once in a generation, it's such a shame he'll never get a chance to be allowed to be famous"..
Never been so happy to be wrong
Why did you think he would never get the chance?
@@illumanu2 a quote from Jamie foxx
Said exactly same thing to my ex back in 2014/13 about a rapper from Argentina named Paulo Londra, we lived in the same city and I used to dance across the street where he would be freestyling. He got a ft with Ed about five years later.
the brave girl and guy that got to jam out with ed!! Ik they’ll treasure this memory forever
Forever telling ppl the time they shared a stage with a musician of that tier lbvs
Admittedly, I’m the girl singing in the video at 6:10… and yes I definitely tell this story sometimes. People almost can’t believe it until i show them this video 😂 glad someone captured it! Evidence of a magical spontaneous moment!
@@MaesynMusic wow you did amazing i had chills when you came on!! such a great performance by all three, the confidence you must of had just to jump on stage and kill it!! was Fantastic!!!
@@ability5284 Aw thanks so much! It was a magical, spontaneous moment! So insane to look back at it, and see who Ed evolved into! He was amazing then, and he's continuously blown my mind ever since
It was definitely a dope night. Forever sealed in my memory... that night I hopped on stage and rocked with a young Ed Sheeran! lol
Who watching this in 2022 getting chills know who this man is now best motivation ever!!
I watch this almost every month lol
February 23, 2022✌️
Just some "nobody" being the most captivating performer. He didn't just do his song. He invited other performers to freestyle. Fuckin legendary.
March 23, 2022 straight from Graham Norton interview with Jamie Foxx.
@@chrism.i.7790 February 20, 2023 ✌️
Say what you want about Ed Sheeran but he knows how to perform. His concerts are just him, his guitar, and a loop pedal. Great live performer
Brooo when they started coming and rapping on stage at the end fucking immaculate vibes
'Preciate that love bro. It was definitely a vibe. I'll never forget jumping on stage with him and spittin' some heat.
I would like to see any other singer in todays manufactured industry do this when they started out at 19 in a bar in Englewood 😆. The talent this guy has is scary, I think that performance he did of perfect at the grammys said it all, him alone, his guitar and loop pedal and he literally got up and built the song from scratch on stage in front of the crowd, and it was perfect.
Ed actually performed shape of you ( not perfect) with his loop pedal at the grammy awards, used a keyboard and acoustic guitar:)
Completely agree. I can’t see any of these new artists holding their own and impressing an unfamiliar/tough crowd like Ed was able to do at just 19 years old. I almost feel bad for him that he had to grind so hard for so long and now the come up is so much easier with the growth of social media. He paid his dues a million times more than any of these up and comers ever will, and it shows in how consistent of a performer he is.
Yes, he was the real deal, working hard, dreaming big.
Why y'all keep spelling Inglewood wrong
@@goldrush18x Bru ,Eminem grew up white in a black neighborhood, in a predominantly black driven industry, at a time when vanilla ice was on the come up and white people were a joke in rap .....,not to mention his mental health issues ,mother crazier than him and a babymomma ,with a 60hr full time job taking care of his fam ....,but ok yea this red head had it bad lol
Ed is literally a one man show. I saw him in concert a few years ago and it was so great!
That build up and crowd reaction at 7:28 👏🏻
here is a longer live version Ed Sheeran - "You Need Me, I Don't Need You" captured in The Live Room (2012) czcams.com/video/DV0TJZ7Kp40/video.html
Dude I played it back a few times
7:25 Doing that on the spot is impressive.
Just feelin the vibe and playing off his raps so well. This is why Ed is actually underrated. His mainstream stuff is great, but this shit shows his musical genius.
@@auingow1701 yess finally i met someone who thinks the same... ed Sheeran is a genius, unfortunately his mainstream made people don't realise he can rap fast as fuck... and use guitar as a drum and all crazy shit lol
Am I the only one that would love Ed to release a song featuring the two that joined in? Cause that rapping was fire
I'm the girl who is on stage with him in this video. I second that idea :) I love telling this story, "that time I randomly jumped on stage with Ed Sheeran right before he blew up" ... glad I have the video to prove it really happened! It was an epic night
@@MaesynMusic Well done you deserve it. you did great and it's a story to tell everyone for sure
@@MaesynMusic Do you happen to know who the guys name who got on stage with him? His rapping was so good 🔥

I’m here because his story on “Hot Ones” 🔥🙌🏼

this performance is so cool, shows how Ed is a true talent and the other artists blended with him . . . .perfect display. . . .
The way this young brother brought people together. He’s special and gifted and authentic and genuine.
the fact that he was only 19 here is actually wild
It is the fact that he involves his audience that captivates so much. He takes you on a journey with his songs. And no matter how many times he has played the same damn song. He gives you the same amount of commitment.
This is amazing, best crowd a performer could possibly ask for.
I'm here because I'm reading his book and boy am I glad I found this

The man knows how to work the room.
Its a real shame there isnt better footage of this. Excellent talent from all three.
A Visual Journey brought me here. I'm so proud, I love him 💕
What does he say in the book about this performance?
Deadication He says that the Gig there was the best he ever had because the reactions of the viewers were so amazing. By the way, this is translated from the german version of the book so sorry if there are any translation mistakes.
Sandro Rauch thanks for filling me in. Ya I bet it was the audience was awesome. I can't help but grin everytime I watch this video =)
Same here ❤

just at the end " he's only 19" that hurt my heart. I love you ed
Love the DJ scratch sound effect toward the end. Everything about this video felt so organic and spontaneous.
"And the rest was history"
Ed is fantastic ! And it's just incredible how these rappers come on stage and pick up the melody !
this is insane fair play to the lad he smashed the stage to pieces after only being in america a week or two as a little shy ginger english kid haha
Even then he had that mysterious quality that raises goosebumps in my skin with his talent
That was THE dopest thing I've ever seen.
Its insane seeing how far he has come, one of the best singers I've ever heard and I'm very glad I have heard him!
Damn he worked his ass off to get where he is! Can you believe his journey. Takes Balls!

Just amazing. Too boot, a fellow ginger too. Long bright future ahead of you. It'll be amazing to see you progress over the years.
How fucking amazing is this to watch today.. all the signs of a unique generational artist were already showing back then.. he just kept dreaming bigger, went for it and never looked back! Really inspiring!

A visual journey brought me here also. I absolutely love this. His music is awesome and so is his story. Hard work and perseverance really paid off for him. I would have to see him perform in person one day.
This is incredible. This is why he is successful!
I just love Ed soo much, and that other guy has mad talent! I'm in love with the energy that lady has!
thanks Kasla! I'm the girl on stage in the video. I didn't even know this video existed for years, finding that someone had captured that epic night on film was such a treasure ... it's fun to be able to show my friends and prove that this wild story I told them was true!

Such a true talent and artist. I'd love to see this kind of set as a show. Kule.
Huge Flypoet fan, John Hensley & the gang have been doing right by the arts for a long, long time. Just saw Ed Sheeran at the Rose Bowl tonight, and he mentioned his first show ever in the US was at the Savoy in Inglewood. I was like, hold up!!! Was he on the Flypoet show??? And here we are, his video here. So cool to see how far he's come. But I'm even more proud of Flypoet for giving artists a stage, a voice and an opportunity. God bless u guys for lighting the way... - JP, a fan from way back in the day before the Savoy! Malo Soifua! 🤙🏾

crazy to see how far ed has come in a few short years.. now he's playing in front of over 50,000 people but is still the same guy he was 3 years ago.. guess he never will be anything more than a singer song writer ;) gotta love him for that!
Omg I love this! Its funny to see how much that song has changed over the past 3 years but hes still that same 19 year old boy. Love you Ed!
