- Please join me on this metal detecting adventure as I search a wooded area for Civil War relics, coins and other treasure. It was a new permission and I didn't have high hopes for it, but I did find a small unhunted Civil War camp and a small handful of coins and relics. While looking at the inside of the New York State Seal button, I see what appears to be a fingerprint left by someone many years ago. Do you think that it is a fingerprint?

My coil went bad on my at max and I sent it and my detector to Garrett. Just one week and I got everything back cleaned up with a new coil and coil cover. Also new batteries. I am impressed, thanks Garrett. Oh yeah chigg, I am impressed with you and your videos also. :)

I look for native American artifacts mainly. One of my favorite pieces is a simple pottery shard which has extraordinarily clear fingerprints of the maker in it. Of the thousands of shards I've found, only this one piece has perfectly preserved fingerprints.
😃 That's fantastic! I was on "early man" habitation dig, and one of us found a bit of clay daub from a hut that had been burned. It had a fingerprint fired into the clay - how awesome. It really made you feel like you were shaking hands with the past. Fantastic find.

I have a early 1800's hand made brick that was fired with a dog footprint in it. Came from a cabin in Paris, Tennessee.

NYS button, J-hooks, dropped bullets, Shield nickel... that's a successful dig if I've ever seen one! I know you'll be back there searching for belt buckles!
I went to the big yard sale in Tennessee and bought 3 buttons for four dollars and I have that new York button in mint condition. I think that was the one someone was selling on the Internet for 65 dollars in mint condition. Really cool to see one dug up.

The fact that there is a fingerprint from the maker of that button is so exciting! My mind rambles wondering who it was, what kind of life they live and so many other questions. Such a personalized piece of history!!

Glad to see this hunt was more productive than your east coast hunt from several nights ago. BTW, I can't find a j-hook to save my life and you find three in one spot. Ive only ever found one and that was in G-ville
Some amazing finds. The finger print in the glue is my favorite.
The fingerprint is awesome!! I have a stone ink that I dug during DIV 14 on Coles Hill that has a fingerprint print in the glaze.

I don't see a fingerprint Chigg, but there is print on it. Perhaps from a book?(Would they have to get paper from any source they could?) I adjusted the brightness/contrast of a screenshot. There is a little girl's face and maybe her clothing. I can't tell what the rest of the design is.

No battles here in MN but got plenty of mid-late 1800s artifacts. Would love to dig with you something! Chigg, Wow! A really great job, I really enjoyed this video. An unreal job of super efficient digging and vlogging. NO way I could do that, my video would have been 2 hours long. I've been watching you for many years and have been a big, big fan, I remember when you hit 100K subscribers, thinking that is incredible. But lately I have been finding some of your more recent videos a bit slow or too long. I look for 20-25 minute videos because... that's all I have time for. I dug my 9th axe head this week, trying to catch you!

That's obviously a camp, but it's odd the funds were confined to such a small area. Perhaps other relics covered over during highway construction.

That highway is atrocious but it probably means good stuff to be found.
Shame it’s kind of a beat spot towards the end but a bigger shame our eyes don’t have x-ray vision for the ground. I’m betting there are still quite a bit of relics there just based off the amount of knapsack hooks you found.

Unless I'm looking at the final picture incorrectly, I don't believe that is a fingerprint. It, to me, looks like a paper seal of some sort printed onto the paper before it was cut and punched. There are patterns inconsistent with fingerprints. Again, that is unless the pictures weren't focused on the fingerprints and you saw something else.
