      Well it is a great news as she sees it. All I got is that without surplus ( 1% really?) they are signing contracts with other countries. Where that wheat will come from??? Magically farms will produce more? I don’t think so; they will take it from their own people. Nothing to be proud about, but she has her own views.

I personally do not much know about India but I am doing my homework. To The P.M. Modi I salute you and I have the upmost respect. India your country has the most potential to grow very strong.       Loved your comment but as an Indian I feel compelled to add that - PM Modi is a dangerous and disastrous individual who is coming from an Islamophobic Hindu nationalist party background. His and his party's views are in complete disagreement with those of Gandhi's. His party BJP is in favour of Gandhi's murderer. VICE also made a video on the rising problem of authoritarianism and hate speech mindset in the Right Wing Indian political parties.
      I am an Indian and a Hindu and I still believe that violence or Islamophobia is not the answer to a peaceful and solid future.

      I am proud too but why I am seeing hunger in India. Why are there people having to beg for food and other basic human needs? This problem has been escalated by two years of Covid and the lock-downs. For many they just want to turn a blind eye and think that such problems exist elsewhere other than India. Feed my India first before thinking about exporting and jumping up and down over the figures of wheat.

      That would not happen since farmers already shot their foot by getting the farms law withdrawn. Now they have no ability to export. Govt of India will export and benefit. Farms will only get MSP.

      Wheat production is 3% less in India so I don't think we can export much wheat.
      Farmers didn't grow much wheat this year becuz the price was not very high last year and everyone grew mustard so mustard production was up by 22%.

    India is clearly a Global Leader across multiple fields and continues to ask to be taken more seriously by the world. What America claims to be, India actually is. Not to mention, India also sincerely wants to help everyone else.
    I absolutely love the healthy competition between India, China, and Russia. They are the world's top three nations and next door neighbors who look to uplift each other.

      China is by far the worlds No. 1 largest wheat producer, but it imports a lot too to keep huge reserves for its people, >50% of the worlds total reserves. I love India but they should not rush for money and leave is people hungly especially because 14% of the population is undernourished in India. Also, 51.4% of women in reproductive age between 15 to 49 years are anaemic.

      @@RPtheory1 India already produces more than enough wheat and rice for our population, the problem is the distribution network and unawareness, corruption too. Free foods are provided in Government ration store but I still don't get it why people don't take it even though food is free. Every year about 2.1 million tones of food remains unused and gets spoiled. So, it is not a problem that India lacks food or something.

Government need to set up more agro lab and testing center, help farmer grow their income, increase their farming potential, introduce newer technique to them to ease their hard work.

      @@agrajyadav2951 No Agraj sudanese have more share of water from both blue & white nile. I am chinese citizen based in yiow now holidaying in india at my parents home. I have seen sudanese farmland very widespread upto 30 km of farmland on sides of blue & white nile. But sudanese & egyptian both shifted to cash crop like cotton. So the problem is not shortages of staple foods. They get it from canade/us/russia and ukrainian. Still they enough to save money from selling cash croup. This year was exceptional due to ukraine/russia war. You may say this year we have good opportunity to destock our warehouses before replenishing it with our bumper fresh wheat crop.

    This year India's wheat crop is going to be a bumper one. I recently traveled by road through Chhattisgarh, MP< Maharashtra and Gujarat. The wheat crop I saw, was breathtaking. Miles and miles of wheat fields along the road to a depth as far as you could see.. And since there are no untimely rains anywhere, all this crop is already harvested or is ready ready for harvesting. I have not seen so much wheat crop in any year in the past

    The investment made in agriculture , technology and medicine, and social education in 1960s is paying dividends in two generations with growing population! Once India went around the world for in 1960s for grains ( wheat), cooking oil, rice etc to meet its needs; I am happy to see India met its food supply in surplus; India needs a well defined energy policy and now is the time since world is fighting over energy supply.

      Technically speaking all this was possible when Indira Gandhi nationalized Bank and the money was given to farmers. Further, regular programme on Government controlled radio and T V on agriculture cropping pattern also made us surplus. We Indian are confident that agriculture, technology will reach commanding heights in near future. With stress on double stack dedicated railway corridor and emphasizing on good roads by present government, India soon will be a global player.

    India has more than Surplus Wheat at the moment. Last year was a good year in Wheat Production and already our Godowns are full and this years crops are just coming in.

    The main hurdle to our wheat exports is its price.
    But instead of exporting raw grains, we must EXPORT AGRO-FOODS, that means our wheat transformed and processed (e.g. pastas). It brings more money and creates jobs !

    India has so much wheat storage that there will be no shortage of food for the entire 1.4 billion Indian people for the next three years.
    But Indian farmers are farmers and not traders who take disaster as an opportunity. We will sell Indian wheat to satisfy hunger and not with the intention of doing business. 🇮🇳🇮🇳

      Wheat logistics from seed planting to harvest don't run on magical dust, you need oil, Russia helps India achieve this. China is a top 5 wheat importer with attractive logistical import values. They will all still do business together, their all in BRICS so doing business with one is doing business with all I would think.

    From crisis supplier to consistent supplier. The fact is that while we have a stock surplus of 24 million tons, it has been accumulated over a few years. Our year to year surplus is not much more than 2-4 million tonnes per year. Last year was exceptional with annual crop at 107 million tonnes. This year it could be even slightly less than 100 million tonnes.

    Unfortunately, India can't capitalise on this opportunity. WTO states countries can't significantly boost exports of those goods which their government provides monetary incentives to produce. Which we do, a lot.
    Australia, Brazil etc recently sued India in WTO for providing excessive financial support to sugar cane producers. And they won.
    We have to decrease these incentives (MSP) to boost exports.

    India has too much rice and wheat reserves , we should export rice to needed ( at a less price as an humanitarian concern ) to the necessary in Europe , Asia Middle East , North Africa and Africa etc. Western dominated WTO is preventing it till , unfortunately. India states Telangana and Punjab are are enough to feed these parts of the world.
