    Came here from Colm Wilkinson... Talk about a culture shock! But I ABSOLUTELY LOVE listening to John Barrowman sing!!! And he certainly put his own spin on one of my favorite songs!
    Keep having fun, John! We're all having a blast with you!

    I love the way he moves back in the aisle between the havles of the orhcestra. It's like he's saying "It's not just me with some dudes supporting me... we're all a critical part of this amazingness"

  • @opajohann
    @opajohann Před 9 lety +7

    Hear me now, oh, thou bleak and unbearable world
    Thou art base and debauched as can be
    And a knight with his banners all bravely unfurled
    Now hurls down his gauntlet glory
    I am I, Don Quixote the Lord of La Mancha
    My destiny calls and I go
    And the wild winds of fortune will carry me onward
    Oh, whither soever they blow
    Whither soever they blow, onward to glory I go
    I'm Sancho, yes, I'm Sancho
    I'll follow my master till the end
    I'll tell all the world proudly
    I'm his squire, I'm his friend
    Hear me heathens and wizards and serpents of sin
    All your dastardly doings are past
    For a holy endeavor is now to begin
    And virtue shall triumph at last
    I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha
    (I'm Sancho, yes, I'm Sancho)
    My destiny calls and I go
    (I'll follow my master till the end)
    And the wild winds of fortune will carry me onward
    (I'll tell all the world proudly)
    Oh, whither soever they blow
    (I'm his squire, I'm his friend)
    Whither soever they blow, onward to glory we go

    Aw he's just moving to the music. What a performance with this song. Well done, John.
    Certain songs John's voice isn't powerful enough to do justice; this one is in what we like to refer to as "his wheelhouse." Incredible job John.

    Very performance, but when I hear this performance, I hear John Barrowman out there having fun. When I hear the cats recording with Richard Kiley, I hear Alonzo Quijana and hear the delusion of a jaded old man in his voice and person. Small nit to pick and two totally different contexts, I understand. Oh, and the name of this song is "I Don Quixote," not "Man of La Mancha."

    @mariaraeburn well he did do the show in 1991. They sent him to Spain to get his matador costume. He was probably given proper dancing lessons. Plus it's John Barrowman he's just fantastic.

  • @laurenrueter7266
    @laurenrueter7266 Před 7 lety +6

    Okay, I love John Barrowman, and he's a decent tenor, but this is extremely campy and not really in the spirit of the song at all. Also, this was clearly written for a baritone, which he is not.

    • @Arkelk2010
      @Arkelk2010 Před 7 lety +2

      I also haven't figured out why they changed the lyrics. But you're right, definitely not in the spirit of the song.

    • @TudorQueen
      @TudorQueen Před 6 lety

      He actually considers himself a lyric baritone, with some lower baritone and some tenor in his overall range. I think it's a good performance, though I question his wardrobe choice (not for the song, just the outfit in general doesn't suit him that well or look like a performance outfit)
