in an interview linda eder says she learned she can sing in a high school show. i bet she blew the roof off the auditorium.
Linda Eder is unmatched, unrivaled, unparalleled. The best singer of our time.
Sir Christopher Lee owns this song
There is nothing I find more exhilarating than watching/listening to somebody on the top of their game do what they do best. Linda Eder knocked this out of the park. I mean I have never heard that song performed better.
Agreed
Every element comes together flawlessly. Sheer perfection!
You can see how much fun she's having - even as she's hitting notes in the stratosphere. Magical.
She's glancing the audience with a look like, watch me do this with no effort...
Beautifully sung. A lot of heart and emotion was put into it.
This is a masterpiece, I return to it time and time again
I saw Linda last night at 54 Below (Michael Feinstein's NYC Cabaret). She closed the show with
her iconic rendition of this piece. She was true to form and still hit the high notes at the end of this piece without any effort.
What an amazing talent and a beautiful human being! Love you, Linda!
Love this lady...Great singer..
I've listened to this 40 or 50 times. Exhilarating, thrilling, enchanting, electrifying....every time.
I conquer, I forget just how great it is.
This has been and is the greatest version of this song ever sung. She beats them all.
I remember my mind being blown when I first saw this while in high school. I am in my 40s and this is still impressive, amazing, and she did her thing!!!
Good lord the pipes on this woman.
AT about 2:15 she makes a fabulous face before the high note. It is like " Watch this....Hold my beer!"
I think this performance is even better than the one on the album. On the album, on the high note part right before she goes up the octave she takes a breathe. In this live performance, NO BREATHE! It makes it even more spectacular and impressive. Her breathe control is outstanding!
This is the definition of killing it.
+Gina CNH - is there anyone like her?‼️ ;-) Nope.
There is not a handful of men or women on the planet that could even come close to that power and vocal control. Many professionals would never try this song. She dominates the stage with her amazing talent and unusual beauty.
I absolutely agree! I never get tired of her music. She is the most magnificent, and talented singer today!
Katie perry rise
Flickchaser
Athena Pudytat , oh please! 😝
You’re absolutely right! I come back to this video again and again as an example of true vocal power. Katie Perry isn’t HORRIBLE, she actually has quite a bit of vocal power, but she hasn’t displayed this kind of power, not at least in the performances I’ve seen.
I love the little bit of growl in her voice in the last "onward" its perfect!
I love her face at about 2:17, when she's reaching notes I can't even dream of brushing against. She gives this smile and look, like "Yup, this is a blast." Linda Eder is a phenom!
Yup. It's like she's just showing off at that point. Making it look easy. Total domination 🤩
Yes, I love that eyebrow raise!
It's like she is daring people to doubt then that glimmer right before she goes for that note... you doubters. Get to see her in October at Below Studio 54. I'm planning on crying through her whole performance.
What a privilege it is to be able to watch this! A million words could not describe Linda Elder’s vocal gymnastics and strength combined with how easy she makes it look and how much fun she has. Just amazing, no one can even begin to compare!
Incredible vocal performance. Wowzer!
NOTHING COMPARES!!!! Never heard anyone like this and I'm a musical theatre geek!
Her voice is thrilling!
Would love to see ANY modern singer try this song. Lucky for us, it was caught on video. No autotune here, folks.
@@samuelm.5752 I'm glad you think so. I saw Marian Carey at Caesar's Palace about 4 years ago, when she supposedly "hit" the high notes, they were pre-recorded. That is, she wasn't always singing live. I'm sure someone of your vast knowledge already knows this.
don't be cringe.
@@samuelm.5752 Mariah doesn't have the vocal strength like Linda eder.
You know opera still exists right…? There are literally hundreds of singers that can do this.
@@eridonstewart9973 there's only one Linda eder.
Simply amazing.
The most interesting and inspiring thing for me is that she makes it look absolutely effortless.
Glorious!
The eyebrow raise gets me every time.
The look she gives at 2:41... the “wow, I can’t believe I’m here.” A true class act, in every way. Grace, humility, & an incredible talent. I still remember the night this aired... my family & I still love to watch this clip. 💜
If that performance doesn't give you chills down your spine, see a doctor immediately. Wow!
Very under appreciated talent. Shame such beautiful talent doesn't fit what the airheads want to hear today. From the time of Star Search til the present & future, I'll always be a fan!!!!! LOL
SAME HERE! BRAVA!!
Pure magic. A women singing a "male" song. A Tour de Force!
I don’t want this song to end!
She is Amazing
Starting at 2:04 she is doing something truly uncanny, flipping a note up an octave in a way I have never heard anyone do. Remarkable.
Minnie Riperton and Annie Haslam. And Mariah Carey too but she's sort of a contemporary of Linda Eder.
I close my eyes and try to find a flaw in the flow when notes change... and nothing. Magnificent.
Agree!!
@@madanmohan1024 And before Mariah, there was Cleo Laine who I once heard hit a G6 above high C in Carole King's song Music. I love Linda Eder and was lucky enough to see her Christmas Show with a full Choir.
The bar’s been set so high. 😏
She has an amazing voice!!❤
Time for my annual tribute to the great Linda by coming back to listen to this triumphal rendition!
Love....love her voice and the breath control for 2:04-2:21 is out of this world
I have no idea how many times I've watched this video... It always thrills me to see her rendition of this fantastic song (my favorite)...
That high note!!! Wow! totally awesome! :)
No one does it better. Period.
Actually there is someone in Hawaii, who has also sung on Broadway, that I'd say can do it ever so slightly better. Although I think she got her performance inspiration from Linda Eder.
While the recording is amateur, here is where she performed it at our local mall in 2008. czcams.com/video/H3M-sil0vvs/video.html
Show stopper! Wow!
Girl has some mean pipes.
Probably the best rendition.
Woman of La mancha !!😎
2:03 wow i thought my volume had broken for a second but no she actually just hit that note
Linda Eder has the most amazing and beautiful voice! I love the way she sings....BELTS out this song!
more women should take a man-sung power song and make it their signature song.
She was in her element here, i dont think she can top how perfect she is here
Remarkable. Definitive! That orchestra is incredible, as well.
Love when she stamps her foot!
Her brilliance just cannot be measured!!!!!!
I don't know how many times I have listened to this version. Would love to see her perform this with Brian Stokes Mitchell, going back and forth! I saw Brian do this on Bway, with Mary Elizabeth Mastrontonio and Ernie Sabella. Not ashamed to say I saw there crying with joy.
I just love this Woman's power pipes! Got to know her through Jekyll & Hyde and got to love her. Also fun how she does her little head tilt thing when reaching high notes, I think it's adorable.
I see that I commented 4 years ago: what I said then, holds true today: there's no one else with a voice as phenomenal as Linda's.
Actually there is someone in Hawaii, a contemporary of Linda's who has also sung on Broadway, that I would say is pretty much equal to her ability. While this recording is amateur, you can hear the comparison when she performed this same song at our local mall in 2008. czcams.com/video/H3M-sil0vvs/video.html
Now this a woman who can sing! The best of the best.
This flamenco song is beautiful and I heard it for the first time in the Netflix mini "Lost Ollie" at the beginning of the second chapter.
And I love this Mini Series, it is very beautiful and moving like GDT 's Pinocchio and Ollie the rag bunny is so cute ! 💖
One of my best friend's....her brother was dating Linda Eder. One day Linda Eder walks into the restaurant we worked at with my friend. She's very nice and kinda shy!! Should gotten an autograph.
The most incredible performance of any song by any artist ever. I think she hits notes that have not been written yet
Cute how she is happy to reach the high note! :-)
I am forever thrilled by the amazing voice of LINDA EDER! There's not another voice this wonderful! 🤩👋💚 The best!
Just saw Linda Eder at a small college outside of Oklahoma City and she sang this with a 3 piece band and Yes she still hit all of those notes, she is a remarkable talent. Its spellbinding to watch live.
Jeff Sauers @
Fuck! I worship this woman. Does anyone know what that top note is? I'm trying to sing this.
Faith Higgins it’s gotta be at least E above high C... its whistle tone I believe.
Faith Higgins the top note is F#6 2:22
Not only did she nailed it , she dipped it in Crazy glue ! Talent and skill like that helped me see that show five times on Broadway .
So gorgeous!
Every once in a great while, everything comes together perfectly. This was one of those very rare moments. She chopped the windmills into tiny pieces.
totally knocked this out of the ballpark, Bravo Linda!!!!!
Wow!!! Fantastic!
Simply STUNNING. Hands down one the best live performances of any song, EVER. Thank you, moon goddess, for the gift of Linda Eder’s voice!! 💖🎶
Linda Eder is the GOAT: Greatest (Singer) Of All Time! - Best on the planet for sure! Also, probably the best in the solar system - maybe the best in the entire universe - hard to say …
Ditto
She is incomparable! The song Bring On The Men she does in concert, and Man of La Mancha are just amazing!
the song that got me truly hooked on this incredible lady
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
The Force is strong in this one! I got goosebumps listening to her hit those high notes.
She was at her peak here. Never better.
This performance shaped my entire singing career
This performance will live forever. Thank you.
I just heard her sing this at 58 Tuesday and she sounded EXACTLY the same! I told her in person at the meet and greet and she shook her head and said no, but thanks, a perfectionist to be sure.
I was given a CD by a friend with this show. When I listened to this. I was paralyzed. I remember afterwards running to call my husband saying 'you've got to watch this'. I have come back here to this video countless times through the years. I am still amazed EVERY time. How did she do this?
@@ntavares540 It blows me away every time, too!
October 23, 2021: Today I discovered the music of Ms. Linda Eder! Wow!!!
Congratulations!!🎇🎇
She is RIDICULOUS - in every single way. OMG. WOW.
Lyrics:
Hear me now oh thou bleak and unbearable world
Thou art base and debauched as can be
And a knight with his banners all bravely unfurled
Now hurls down his gauntlet to thee!
I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha
Destroyer of Evil amd I,
I will march to the sound of the trumpets of glory
Forever to conquer or die
Hear me heathens and wizards and serpents of sin
All your dastardly doings are past
For a holy endeavor is now to begin
And virtue shall triumph at last!
I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha
A Name all the world soon will know
And the wild winds of fortune will carry me onward
Oh whither so ever they blow
Whither so ever they blow
Onward to Glory I go!
I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha
A Name all the world soon will know
And the wild winds of fortune will carry me onward
Oh whither so ever they blow
Whither so ever they blow
Onward to Glory I go!
Absolute fav rendition of this song. I’m so glad I got to see her in concert one year. She’s from my home state!
She out-sang all of the other ladies that night. Simply glorious....
Dennis Belkofer Jennifer Holliday came out as queen that night.
winnerboy87 Gotta say I have a hard time choosing between them. I had the privilege of seeing Linda Eder perform live once when I was in college, and I think the feeling was similar to what my dad says seeing Jennifer Holliday in the original Dreamgirls was like. Though at the same time, when he saw Jennifer Holliday on my DVD of this performance, he said he thought the performance was more...”ornamented” than he remembered, and that he thought that the performance he saw showed off her raw power better.
@@samuelm.5752 there’s a difference between “shouting” and growling and belting. You would have to know the difference before joining the conversation. However, you are entitled to your opinion.
@@samuelm.5752 Awesome! Amazing for her! Merry Christmas!!! 🎁🎄
I sang this song in my voice lessons when I was about 14. I'm sure I sounded exactly this good. lol
What an incredible voice!
What else but WOW!!!

WOW CALL THE CORONER I HAVE BEEN SLAYED. Kind of ironic that she beat Anthony Warlow to nailing this role (he played the role in Australia a few years ago).
she is amazing
Just Heard this song on Lost olie and gad to check it out. Phenomenal
Her voice is wonderfull
Just saw her concert last night in New Jersey!!! Hearing her do this live, CHILLS!!!
This was simply perfection! I'm sure every singer wishes for a performance like this. My only question is: Why weren't those people on their feet? I know I am :)
I got to meet her last year after seeing her in concert. It was incredible
That raise of the eyebrows as she hits the high note is. like 'Yeah...I got this!'
Have loved her since Star Search and she has only gotten better since. Drives me crazy when people say she sounds like Streisand. She simply doesn't. She certainly is a powerhouse, which typified Streisand as well. Fabulous...and so great when performing live!
Truth, Michael Pantyhose
She's a great vocalist, but she's not as good as Streisand. She pushes at parts, which Streisand never did. Similar to Whitney in her prime, those two singers were effortlessly, supremely talented.
There are a few songs where she sounds a tad like Streisand. "Why Do People Fall In Love" is one of the most similar. But Linda is effortless. You THINK she's pushing. She's not, no more than Garland did. It's a type of vocalization, and no one, even Streisand can hold a power note like Eder. No one.
I actually changed my mind after I watched some of her other videos, most notably bring on the men in '99. I still content she's not as effortless as Streisand, but she's supremely talented. Here her voice isn't in its prime either, in that 99 version of 'Bring on the Men' she's amazing, effortless, with power and control. I'd put in the same group as Whitney and Streisand, a group I don't put many pop vocalists in, including Mariah or Celine.
@@finalfantasy3408 As a vocalist myself, I don't hear her pushing at all. She has her voice perfectly placed.
Golly!!! This woman is amazing!!! Love her!
she's simply beautiful!no more words for it.
Amazing...one of my favs..
She is amazing!!! Holy cow!!
Homepod
A class act with real talent!
Stunning.
A career defining moment, for sure. She always makes it look so effortless.
What pipes! A stunning showcase!!
I love this song. Good job Linda Eder! :-)
I am embarrassed to say how I stumbled upon this on my youtube travels.... but this was really cool! I loved it!
