Longer years of schooling doesn't necessarily mean better outcomes. Its the quality of teaching that matters and the curriculum. We need to concentrate on science, technology, engineering and math or STEM because these are the most important things in nation building. Whoever implemented this k12 curriculum that increased the schooling from 10 to 12 years didn't account for the fact that most students come from poor families who can barely afford to send their children through 10 years of elementary and high school, let alone 12 years. The incompetence in our government is astounding. The 12 year elementary and high school program should just be an option for private schools and not mandated for all schools across the country especially public schools where most of our poor kababayans send their kids. The dropout rates are already very high in public schools because of lack of finances to finish school . this k12 program just made it much worse

I agree with you, sir. Tsaka pinag-aral mo ang isang tao ng 12 years of basic education, plus college, kaso low paying yung jobs dito sa atin. Ang ending, sa labas lahat ang punta at konti na lang ang matitira for our nation building. So sad. Brain drain is still going strong coz people opt to better opportunities abroad.

"Both teachers and learners are overburdened with lessons... school tasks and activities." That is the problem there. Teachers and students should just be concerned with lessons ONLY. NOT admin tasks that take away teachers' abilities to focus on the students. Changing the curriculum is at the lower end of our concern. Have it properly executed first before saying that the curriculum is the problem. Hire more people that would help teachers. Pay teachers more. Also, lessen parades and other out of school activities that students have to participate to. Practices for these takes time away from actual learning.

There curriculum planner who are not experts, they only plan and imagined. Imitation and modeling from others countries without looking at our needs and problems is the easiest thing that curriculum planners can do. Also, by allowing non-expert to teach on certain areas under new curriculum and consider it a modern trend maybe futile. PhD without experience dis-regard those without PhD with very long experiences in teaching. So, the Philippines is ALWAYS STARTING / ALWAYS IN THE BEGINNING.

Agree on some comments but not necessarily on activities outside of school. Students should be exposed to activities that help them improve their social skills, because when you graduate, more than anything else, great social skills will help you get far aside from being intelligent and smart.

    How to solve educational issues
Normal people: Remove unnecessary burden on teachers and students, increase teacher salary, apply subjects that help with adult life like how to manage money and remove useless ass subjects that will never be used in the first place, and maybe have better educational mediums both irl and online - that's free and decent.

It was good for childrens to learn mother tongue. The problem is, language may be the same but the use may vary based on different places like in Pangasinan in our area the mother tongue is Ilocano instead of Pangasinense the words in the modules for ilocano are also not understood by the parents for it was based on the Ilocano of Ilocos so it was also hard to correct the child since the use of language in their households differ to what is taught at schools. One of the problems is that some teachers are not even from the area so they themselves are not able to teach the language properly. But I myself known the language Ilocano when I was young but as I get older where in schools we are taught tagalog and preferably english I also forgot to speak it I can understand but never speak it fluently and most kids also won't speak the language since mostly we speak tagalog now. I hope they reconsider removing the mother tongue or maybe at least create an opportunity for the students to learn it.

Whats wrong with k12 is that it was branded incorrectly, such as hireable and business ready grads because they're not. However k12 grads are far better in many categories than those graduating from the old educ program (4yh year). K12 grads are more college ready.
On the other side of the coin, deped has to completely revise its entire k12 curriculum, as well as their spiral knowledge theory, they're ridiculously out of sense, a gentle way of saying stupid.

100% totoo.
      Kasi eto sila:
      *Regional OPM music
      -Ojo Kaluguran Daka
      -Dodong Charing
      -Gi Fingers
      -Gugmang Ga Aso-Aso
      -Pero Atik Ra
*Regional/Provincial commercial and indie Filipino films
      -Ploning
      -Urduja
      -Iti Mapukpukaw
      -Bulawan Nga Usa
      *90.7 Love Radio
      *91.5 Win Radio
      *92.3 Radyo5 True FM
      *93.9 iFM
      *Barangay LS 97.1
      *101.1 Yes The Best
      *102.7 Star FM
      *106.7 Energy FM
      *Wish 107.5
Tapos kahit sa regular days/seasons, mag-produce/create at magpalabas ng Regional/Provincial mainstream/commercial Filipino film para hindi na maging indie film ang dating at para maipakita din na mainstream Filipino films also can do those kind of Filipino films.
Fans should appreciate them or at least respetuhin na lang nila ang mga nagkakagusto sa mga 'yan kesa iboykot o itapon na parang basura. Producers/ media outfits and network/management should continue creating those kind of contents. We care for them kaya natin pinaglalaban ang mga wholesome at senseful contents.

Learning the mother tongue in primary school has a big impact in learning our national language. Here in Cebu kids, highschool and even teachers doesn't know how to speak Tagalog. They would rather speak in English. I speak Tagalog, Ilocano and learning Visaya dialect. The new Generations are having languange barrier by not learning our National language. If someone from Visaya goes to Manila then they are lost in terms of communication. Mother tongue can be learn outside the school like home and community.
