After a three-day series of grand festivities promoting the new ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ tradition this 126th Independence Day, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. caps off the nationwide commemoration in a ‘Parada ng Kalayaan 2024’ at the Quirino Grandstand in the City of Manila on June 12, 2024.
Today’s event highlights the parade of 22 beautifully-decorated floats from various provinces and national government agencies that showcase the rich history of the Philippines, particularly the story of 11 events depicting the country’s nationwide struggle for freedom from colonial rule. The parade also displays the procession of 10 original branches and cabinet departments of the first Philippine Republic.
This year’s Independence Day celebration centers on the theme, ‘Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.’ Various engaging activities were held at the Quirino Grandstand to honor Filipino heritage anchored in the spirit of freedom and unity.
