Not sure if you missed it but Rodrigo Bentancur threw a glass bottle at the fans but ended up hitting a Uruguay staff member resulting in some nasty injuries.

Security failed big time in this incident. Someone, whether it was CONMEBOL or BEST Crowd Management, the security provider at Bank of America Stadium, dropped the ball as far as communicating potential post-match issues. As someone who worked field security at all three Copa matches in Houston, we absolutely were briefed by our managers and CONMEBOL about potential issues which would pop up before we were deployed to our posts. So, either CONMEBOL didn't pass this information along or BEST didn't pay attention. Regardless of who's playing, the first thing we pushed for after the match was for added security staff at the field stairs post-match to make sure we didn't have any supporters jumping onto the pitch or players rushing into the stands.

Look, with all due respect, you are in a room, acclimatized, I imagine quiet and comfortable. It's very easy, in your position, to ask Darwin to "de-escalate" a bunch of drunk men, at the end of 90 minutes of high intensity on the field, in which his team was still eliminated.

the 2008 Man Utd-Chelsea champions league final in Moscow was organized best imo - there were two separate subway stations for two halves of the stadium and there was no way of getting to the other part of the stadium in less than 30 mins in public transport/walking, cause fencing. all this because of the perceived inbound english hooligan threat lol, riot shields all around just in case

The "group A meets group B to fight" thing has been happening around Vienna recently (it's not related to football, it's basically gang fights, Russians vs Syrians apparently) and it is a huge problem because the people who get wounded there still have to be taken care of and there is almost always collateral damage. So no, even that is not okay.

That's why you don't have to sell beer in a stadium full of hot blooded FUTBOL fans.
The game was a well deserved 1-0 to Colombia.
What happened after the game is the sum of organizational errors, forgetting because alcohol is not sold at soccer matches in many countries in South America, not knowing how to handle defeat and for those who are not used to it, not knowing how to handle victory.
The thing about the Uruguayan players, as much as it bothers me, continues to be an educational problem, players who come from critical contexts and who do not know how to act up to the role they have and what they represent.
I'm not saying that they won't go in to defend their relatives, what I'm saying is that once their relatives were already on the playing field, they should have turned around and forgotten about all those people, because in the end those who are going to sanction and those who are going to miss out on improvements in their contracts, are going to be them and not the unknown Colombian fans.
Thank you for your point of view in the video.

Bruh, I’m sorry but I can’t agree with this take. This is misinformed or at least, has a significant lack of information. Do you know who is in charge of security at the stadiums and surrounding the stadiums? It isn’t Conmebol, they are only allowed to borrow the stadium. It’s the stadiums owners! The lack of respect the stadiums owners have for Conmebol arranged the deal so that only they are in charge of organization, and they don’t even allow access to all sections of it. Blaming Conmebol, as much as they are an inept organization, is not the right thing to do in this situation.

This happens everywhere man. Europe/UEFA PR is honestly just undefeated. It’s just for the love of the game over there. Hooligans are just passionate fans. What happened after the last euro was just a public display of passion between two brotherly countries.
Obviously I think it’s bad that the players are in there throwing out haymakers and the kids being stuck in the fighting. I think it looks bad when earlier this year or last year you had Argentina v Brazil v Cops in a tornado triple threat and they’ve done nothing ever to fix the security.
Unfortunately SA/Conmebol/USA don’t have the European PR firm so they can’t just paint over this with a coat of passion. But the biggest takeaway is please people don’t disrespect entire nations of people because of a few idiot people
Edit: I don’t even want to bring light to it, but let’s not ignore the insane amount of EXTREMELY casual racism just flowing throughout this euro

As a European I can say that we need a lot of police for the euros because there are still a lot of geopolitical disagreements, post war tenssions between a lot of countries (especially balkan’s), we also had english and russian Holigans so yeah we are more prepared. And yeah at the euro the first team fans are on one side and the other team fans are on the other side, they are seperate. And that made me think about the riots in Brasil at the beginning of the game between Brazil and Argentina, they mixed the fans in the stadiums just as Comebol would have done if that game existed, and that was pure chaos out there. So yeah they definitely need to look at euros.
