This is exactly my problem and it's been chronic since about 2003! This is the first insightful piece of advice I've received from anyone, including clinicians or serious athletes who have rehabbed from Achilles tendon injury. I'll start tomorrow. I really miss sprinting, running stairs and jumping. I hope this works.

@@idontmisscam6907 Many thanks! Yes, this aggravating achilles tendonitis problem is under control, and very rarely, for maybe a few hours, feels tight again.
Several times a week at the gym, I sit in an "ass-to-grass" position, no shoes, just socks. Because of the lack of mobility in the ankles and Achilles, I take a large size 15lb plate and hold it out in front of me with my elbows resting on my knees.
Sometimes I have my elbows inside my knees pushing out. I'm up to 10 minutes now in that position. You only need to do it once 2-3 times a week. That's the rehab that's worked the best.
By the way, it's a very mentally intensive exercise. My focus the whole time is entirely on my breath.
