It's ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL to see these films of the aftermath of the 1944 tornado. I've heard plenty of stories & seen newspaper articles & photographs, but these films bring it to live. What's astonishing to me is that the scenes from 1:57 - 2:01, showing the old Upston Plan School, were evidently filmed from the back yard of where I currently live!!

My uncle just emailed me about this video. He lived through this and said the group of men that were working on the collasped house was my grandfather who crawed into the basement. I keep watching it to see my grandparents house. It was on the of Trimble Avenue where 2 small homes were. My great uncle Charlie built them.

The house I live in was leveled in this tornado in Lincoln Place. My Mother and Grandmother was trapped inside when it happened. My Grandfather rebuilt the house after.

I love how every woman and female child had a dress on, and how the yards were immaculate. Great video :) thanks for sharing!
