  • This is the introductory lecture to my semester-long, undergraduate level basic biomechanics course. All other lectures will be presented weekly and will cover different human tissues (muscle, bone, etc) and joints (shoulder, knee, spine, etc).

    Coming from the field of engineering, lots of this introduction were familiar in terms of content but all the words are new to me (especially as English isn't my first language, though Latin from high school definitely helps)

    If the movement is in frontal plain, it's axis is combined of other two plains. Sagital and transfersal...and so on with others.
    This is why we called axis like that, Sagito-transfersal for example.
    Might be easier to imagine for some people.

    I thought biomechanics is about of produce protein based artificial muscles that would replace any machine part that generates force. Present biomechanics is in premature stage I am afraid.

      Biomechanists study many different areas including plants and animals. Because I am involved in physical rehabilitation of the human musculoskeletal system, you are seeing a lecture that revolves around this area.
